Theatre Nurse

Job Responsibilities

  • Patient care – Provide holistic patient care, including physical, mental and social well-being.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and immediately alerting the senior nurse and doctor on duty.
  • Prepare patients for simple and complex procedures and assist doctors during the procedures as prescribed.
  • Monitor and document vital signs, hydration status and conduct diagnostic tests. In the case of abnormal finding and seek
  • help from the senior nurses or the doctor on duty.
  • Work with other medical professionals such as surgeons, physicians and physiotherapists that are treating the patient,
  • updating them on the patient status, and receive orders or patient care recommendations.
  • Conduct routine procedures such as safety checks, IV insertion, urinary catheterization and changing of wound dressing.
  • Administer prescribed medicine to patients, monitoring patients for side effects.
  • Educate patients and family members on treatments and care plans. Answer all patients and family members’ questions.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Diploma in Nursing.
  • Must be a qualified and Registered Nurse (RN/RM/KRCHN/BSN)
  • Must have a valid licensure from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same position.
  • Proficiency in Basic computer skills

HTS Counsellor

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide appropriate pre, post and appropriate risk reduction counselling to all clients receiving HTS services as per Kenya
  • HTS national guidelines.
  • Mobilize clients for testing at the respective facility service delivery point i.e OPD, IPD, Special clinics and or community
  • outreach sites.
  • Provide appropriate referral to all clients with a high focus on 100% linkage of HIV positive clients to care and treatment.
  • Support and escort HIV positive clients to the CCC for enrollment into care, make follow ups and report on referral and
  • linkage outcomes.
  • Compose proposals, plan and implement monitor counselling activities and organizing trainings as per need basis.
  • Develop a strong network system with relevant stakeholder for linkage and continuity of care.
  • Prepare work plans for the counselling department and regularly advise the management on the findings necessary.
  • Pay attention and handle patients with care during counselling sessions.
  • Adhere to strict moral and professional ethics as per the counselling protocols, ethics and standards required by the
  • Hospital.
  • Ensure safe custody and storage of clinic related items and equipment including the test kits.
  • Receive patients at the HTS department.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the management from time to time

Requirement

  • Certificate in HTS Counselling (NASCOP Certified)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, report writing and presentation skills. Dedicated team player with excellent
  • interpersonal, communication, report writing and analytical
  • At least 2 years’ experience in HIV counselling and testing.
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and high ethical standards
  • High level of integrity and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrable knowledge of HIV/ART management, diagnosis and treatment procedures of conditions associated with HIV,
  • adherence support and HTC service delivery.
  • Have a unique identifier code for quality assurance by the NLPR for proficient testing
