EPROK Coordinator

Job Purpose:

While working closely with the Head of Policy, Research, and Advocacy and HAPROK board this role shall support the Electronic and Electrical Waste Producer Responsibility Organization (EPROK) in developing and implementing programmes and activities within the following themes:

  • Strategy development and implementation in line with EPROK’s objectives
  • Membership recruitment and retention
  • Resource mobilization and management
  • Support EPROK governance
  • Relationship and stakeholder management
  • Formal Representation of EPROK
  • Communication and Information dissemination

Duties and Responsibilities:

Your specific duties will include and not limited to the following:

  • Implement EPROK strategies on extended producer responsibility and take-back schemes.
  • Perform functions such as membership recruitment, and retention to build and sustain a vibrant Organization.
  • Perform administrative functions for EPROK such as accounting management.
  • Organize member activities and offer secretariat services to the members of EPROK.
  • Organize engagements with relevant government agencies, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of strategies to support resource mobilization to facilitate EPROK’s work.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effective execution of EPROK activities.
  • Implement effective internal and external communication strategies.
  • Support effective account management of EPROK members.
  • Develop relevant members database and update and maintenance for key contacts for EPROK members to enhance EPROK’s services and network.
  • Support implementation of the EPROK Board activities.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the EPROK Board from time to time.

Person Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Environmental science, Business, Economics, or any other relevant Social Science. A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant work experience, three (3) of which should have been spent in management and/or leadership roles with an overall multifunctional organization engaging in business and environmental sustainability matters.
  • Experience in handling engagements with the private sector, NGO, and government stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of environmental and waste value chain management in Kenya and willingness to learn about global trends.
  • Have the ability to build strong networks with advocacy partners, the manufacturing community, and policymakers to achieve EPROK’s strategic objectives.
  • Excellent project management, Fundraising, and resource mobilization skills.
  • Possess a strong track record of leading, managing, and motivating staff towards high performance and productivity. 

Corporate Communications Assistant Officer

Job Purpose:

  • To support the Corporate Communications and Marketing function at EPROK by ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Your specific duties will include and not limited to the following:

Corporate Communications – 50%

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement an effective communications strategy and PR plans and campaigns based on our target audience.
  • Oversee strategic and targeted communication to members and ensure regularly updated social media touchpoints, including news highlights, emails, etc.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand and coordinate publicity events as required.
  • Implementing corporate sustainability initiatives and strategies.
  • Support crisis management as it arises and escalates to the CEO, Communications Committee Chair and/or Board Chair.
  • Write, edit, design, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicate the organization’s activities, products and/or services.
  • Promote communications and marketing materials through appropriate social media channels.
  • Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications plans and campaigns.

 Events Management – 10%

  • Develop and manage internal/external corporate and local community events in support of a Corporate Giving Strategy.
  • Develop and implement event plans and concepts.
  • Manage an effective event marketing campaign.
  • Ensure that on-the-day logistics are running smoothly (catering, venue, equipment).
  • Mobilize participants, manage registrants and send communication to attendees when needed (last-minute venue changes, parking notices, etc.).

  • Profile EPROK events in the public sphere through media platforms, including developing and circulating press invites and press releases to relevant media.

Website Management – 5%

  • Plan, create, implement, manage, monitor and update the EPROK website.

  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that website content aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization’s standards.
  • Improve the website’s user experience regularly and ensure website quality and efficiency by conducting regular test plans.

Person Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience in a communications role
  • Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
  • Strong communicator who works well independently and with a team
  • Must possess exceptional writing skills and be able to compose engaging and accurate content
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously
