Senior Instructional Designer, Global Finance
JOB PURPOSE
- The Sr Instructional Designer for Global Finance will create and articulate Learning & Development (L&D) content cascade through various Programme designs, paying attention to the audience and pitch. Research, design from scratch and deliver e-Learning and/or workshop-based content for global finance, Shared Service Center (SSC) and procurement staff, including Global Center (GC), Regional Office (RO), National Office (NO), Support Offices (SO’s) and may also include VisionFund International [VFI]).
- Will research and evaluate best practices for content creation. Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to define learning objectives, content needs assessments, analysis and design, create storyboards and develop course materials and participant/facilitator guides using appropriate software. Create evaluation tools that will be utilized to measure the quality of materials and needed improvements or enhancements to the curriculum. Work on special projects that address learning needs for global systems implementation (e.g., ProVision, Horizon)
MAJOR RESPONSABILITES
35% – Independently research leadership management best practices and create appropriate content from scratch for global finance, supply chain and shared services staff. Design, create, pilot and revise content, activities and materials for an online and/or blended learning format with a focus on instructional design and delivery methods that are best suited for the learning environment and learner experience.
- Create a learning “cascade” that takes learners from orientation to first-time manager to mid-level manager to a leadership role. Identify relevant content for each stage in a learning journey and ensure content has the right pitch.
- Utilize Global Core Competency Framework as well as either Finance Competency or SCM Competency Profile to identify soft and/or technical skills we need to develop.
25% – Analyze competency and skill gaps in existing curriculum and sequence/scaffolding competencies and related skills to specifically support talent development.
- Work with SME’s to assist with the development and sequencing of content that supports what learners need to learn. Work with SME’s to define eLearning objectives for intended courses, including curriculum needs assessment and design for courses and/or learning programmes.
- Work with sector champions to ensure the content matches objectives.
- 20% – Learning objectives defined and agreed for each course offering to enhance the learner experience.
- 5% – Revise and rewrite the content as needed to ensure materials reflect current trends and the desired learning outcomes are achievable.
- 5% – Provide advice and guidance on best practices for attaining learning objectives on subjects/topics and advise on appropriate systems (captivate, articulate, Camtasia, etc.) and/or host sites (e-Campus, Learning Zone, WVCentral, WVUniversity, etc.)
- 2% – Assist in preparing faculty to deliver the curriculum through the preparation of facilitator resources and coaching trainers to most effectively deliver content.
- 2% – Establish management and administration processes and protocols, including student registration, course uploading, learning Programme evaluation and management reporting.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required minimum professional experience, education, training, license, registration, and certification:
- Bachelor’s degree and five (5) to seven (7) years of work experience.
- A minimum of four (4) years of Instructional Design (ID) experience with demonstrated knowledge of Instructional Design processes as well as technology and web skills.
- Need experience in Leadership Development, both theory and practical application
- Ability to carry out analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation (ADDIE) processes that are fundamental to ID.
- Experience working with Adobe Captivate, Rise, Articulate, Raptivity, Camtasia or other course authoring software required.
- Experience with Moodle (for courses uploaded into eCampus)
- High-level capability to manage learning development projects to meet customer needs on time, on-budget within a complex, cross-culture and multi-stakeholder environment.
Preferred skills, knowledge and experience:
- Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work cross-culturally and demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to cross-cultural issues.
- Ability to supervise and coach junior instructional designer staff or interns.
Language Requirements:
- High fluent level of professional and technical English, spoken and written. Proficiency in Spanish, French or other languages is an added advantage.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:
- The position requires the ability and willingness to travel nationally and/or internationally up to 15% of the time.
Regional Faith & Development Specialist (East Africa), VisionFund International
Major Responsibilities
Program Design
- Support MFI leadership teams to develop plans for deepening transformational development by implementing WV enabling Core Project Models, with an initial focus on Empowered Worldview (EWV). Oversee adaptation of EWV for sustainability in microfinance operations and rollout to staff and clients in Africa.
- Provide regional leadership, oversight, and high quality technical assistance to MFIs for EWV and all core model contextual adaptation, programme design, monitoring and evaluation.
- Develop faith and development research agendas to enhance evidence of impact.
- Lead, facilitate or participate in assessments.
Program Implementation
- Support pilots and scale-up of core project model implementation in MFIs, in alignment with strategy. Ensure Core Project Model implementations meet organizational standards.
- Influence decision makers and technical specialists across the partnership, (especially in MFIs and Support Offices (SO)) for continuous Programme Quality and quality improvement using programme data.
- Lead and/or participate in programme assessments and evaluations and provide inputs and advice.
Staff Capacity
- Provide spiritual mentoring and programmatic coaching for Transformation Impact Managers.
- Contribute to the development of learning pathways for MFI staff in F&D Competencies, including building commitment to World Vision’s Mission, Vision, and Values, supporting faith integration into strategy and programming, and applying faith literacy to more effectively engage Christian and other faith groups in our programming.
- Work alongside MFI staff to build understanding of WV’s global faith and development sectoral approaches and core project models and global best practices and lessons learned, with a focus on Empowered Worldview.
- Provides training (virtual or in country) to MFIs based on strategy plans, including using data to inform decision making.
Innovation and Learning
- Set strategic knowledge management priorities in faith & development to ensure that faith & development knowledge is leveraged as a strategic asset to enhance impact in the region.
- Facilitate and/or participate in learning events, including for Africa Transformation Impact Managers, Global Transformation Impact Manager, other VF Regional F&D specialists, and
- Document lessons learned and generate stories of impact.
- Share learnings within team (sector and/or project model).
- Participate in COPs (Communities of Practice) or learning networks relevant to the sector.
Research
Lead or support the development of articles, presentations and other products that contribute to VisionFund/World Vision’s technical brand in alignment with relevant external engagement strategies and donor needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Education at a minimum of Bachelor degree level (ideally in Theology or Development Studies). Masters Degree in a relevant subject would be an added advantage.
- More than 10 years’ work experience including experience in a technical support provision/advisory role. At least five years of programme management experience.
- Broad experience in relationship building and working with churches, faith-based organizations and other faith groups.
- Exposure to fragile context work.
- A proven strategic thinker.
- Computer literacy; strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-cultural sensitivity. Commitment and ability to develop others.
- Experience working in the development sector.

Technical Specialist –Natural Resource Management
Duties and Responsibilities
Effective Technical Program design, Planning and Implementation
• Work closely with the Senior Program Manager to provide effective and innovative technical advice in the IMARA Program towards reaching the program goal.
• Responsible for the implementation of the all activities in the IMARA program with focus on Rangeland/dry land forest management, Water access and protection, Disaster Risk Management and Renewable energy options in partnership with partners within the consortium.
• Provision of technical skills in integrated natural resource management practices across communities and partners in targeted areas
• Train the partners, selected farmer groups and partners on the various recommended focal areas (Community Based Natural Resource management, Dry land forestry, Climate smart agriculture, Sustainable energy options, soil and water conservation, Disaster Risk management, Advocacy and policy influence etc).
• Support implementation of water access and protection for enhanced water supply in collaboration with relevant line ministries
• Mobilization of smallholder farmers into Farmers Marketing groups geared to strengthen tree-based value chains market systems enhancing increased production
• Develop a program capacity building plan of action for partners, CBOs and Community Owned Resource Persons as per context with specific focus on the key objectives.
• Ensure timely and efficient expenditure at acceptable levels as per donor requirements
• Actively participate in the collection and collation of views from stakeholders for the development of program plans and budgets
• Providing technical leadership and supporting collaborative partnership engagements within the IMARA NRM focus areas across county.

• Monitor and support the timely and appropriate utilization of budgeted resources for all L&R program interventions as well as ensure effective and timely response plans.
• Together with key partners conduct on site trainings and strengthening community groups in issues on integrated NRM in respect to climate change
Partnership, networking and resource acquisition
• Ensures collaborative roles and partnerships with key partners in the leverage county partners including GOK line Ministries at the county and national, Community Based organization, NGO, Learning Research institutions and any relevant authorities
• Gender and Youth integration in program activities through the implementation strategies.
• Develop working agreements / MOUs with partners as per need.
• Coordinate stakeholder / partner forums on IMARA counties strengthening strategic NRM alliances.
• Coordinate reflection and learning forums for community and partners for purposes of providing forums for experiential learning & reflection.
• In liaison with Partners, lead/support development of data collection and monitoring tools as required
• Strengthen advocacy on prioritization and increased resource allocation for NRM related activities by county government and other CSOs.

Quality Assurance, Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation
• Participate/Support program assessments, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation, documentation and dissemination of promising practices
• Develop a monitoring and evaluation framework that ensures that the targets from leveraging sites are tracked.
• Coordinate joint monitoring visits with key partners to track and document program progress in the targeted leverage counties.
• Ensure the feedback from monitoring exercises feed into the working of environment technical working group within the program counties.
• Support the development and submission of program reports and core documents as per WVK guidelines and donor standards.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Rangeland Management, Forestry, or Climate Change from a recognized University.
- Minimum of four years’ experience in implementing sustainable natural resource management (SNRM) programs in ASAL/degraded parts of Kenya integrating livelihoods strengthening
- Technical knowledge in NRM, Agriculture/Food security, Livestock and other Livelihoods, Social Protection, Gender issues and Youth inclusion.
- Experience working with private sector, local communities, institutions, governmental and traditional authorities in ASAL regions;
- Demonstrable competencies in designing, planning, implementation, documenting, record-keeping and reporting
- Must have skills and ability to provide training and mentorships
- The holder of this position must be a result orientated person who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands
