Associate Programme Management Officer
Responsibilities
- Assists in the preparation of the World Cities Report, the Regional and National Reports of the State of Cities and Human Settlements.
- Assists in the analysis of urban development issues at the global, regional and national levels; undertakes empirical research and analysis of trends, developments, and related policy issues relevant to the unit /departmental mandate, including urbanization, urban economics, spatial development, local economic development and regional planning.
- Researches, analyzes and presents urban and human settlements information gathered from diverse sources.
- Reviews, revises, summarizes and edits country reports on internationally agreed goals and targets relevant to sustainable urbanization. • Work with key partners, governments, local authorities, including global research networks on topics relating to sustainable urbanization.
- Assists planning, organizing and servicing of expert group and technical meetings, policy dialogues, development seminars.
- Participates in field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.
- Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Urban Planning, Urban Development, Urban Geography, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Urban Governance, Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or any other related field is required.
- A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of studies with two (2) additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in urban development, research and policy analysis at the local, national and international levels is required.
- Experience in conducting policy reviews and preparation of policy recommendations for decision makers is required.
- Experience in analyzing, drafting, reporting, summarizing and presenting large quantities of statistics on urban issues using relevant computer software is desirable.
Administrative Assistant
Responsibilities
Human Resources Management
- Initiates, processes, monitors, reviews and follows-up on actions related to the administration of the unit’s human resource activities, e.g., recruitment, placement, relocation, promotion, performance appraisal, job classification reviews, separation, training etc., ensuring consistency in the application of regulations and procedures.
- Enters, maintains and certifies administrative data and records for time and attendance, performance appraisal, etc. in electronic information systems.
- Reviews entitlements-related claims and reports.
- Provides advice and guidance to staff with respect to administrative procedures, processes and practices, liaising with central administrative services as necessary.
- Maintains and reviews organizational staffing tables; prints and reviews IMIS reports.
- Budget and Finance Monitors status of expenditures and allotments through IMIS, records variations, updates budget tables.
- Consolidates data received and provides support to higher-level staff with respect to budget reviews of relevant intergovernmental and expert bodies.
- Reviews status of relevant expenditures and compares with approved budget.
- Reviews requisitions for goods and services to ensure (a) correct objects of expenditure have been charged and (b) availability of funds.
- Assists in the preparation of budget performance submissions.
- Prepares statistical tables and standard financial reports.
General Administration
- Prepares, processes and follows-up on administrative arrangements and forms related to the official travel of staff. Drafts routine correspondence.
- Maintains files of rules, regulations, administrative instructions and other related documentation.
- Maintains up-to-date work unit files (both paper and electronic).
- Coordinates extensively with service units and liaises frequently with internal team members both at Headquarters and in the field.
- Performs other related administrative duties, as required, e.g., operational travel programme; monitoring accounts and payment to vendors and individual contractors for services; physical space planning; identification of office technology needs and maintenance of equipment, software and systems; organizing and coordinating administrative arrangements for seminars, conferences and translations.
Contract Administration
- Assists with day-to-day administration of contracts between the UN and external contractors for outsourced services.
- Audits the contractors’ invoices against the goods and services provided by the contractor and approved by the UN.
- Processes the payment of contractors’ invoices and monitor payments.

GIS Expert
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Support the geo-analysis work under the Young Gamechangers Initiative Project
- Deliver Trainings of Trainers to implementing partners and country offices
- Engage in workshops and meetings
- Write technical and normative outputs, including the spatial strategy, situational analysis reports, public space design proposals, maps, plans, and guidelines for green areas and associated public spaces.
- Prepare maps, graphics and statistics through collection, compilation, spatialisation, analysis and interpretation of spatial data.
- Attend meetings and events promoted by UN-Habitat and partners to strengthen the Programme’s presence, including the UN-Habitat Assembly, amongst others.

Qualifications/special skills
Education:
- University degree in Geography, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Studies or related subjects is required
- Experience At least four (4) years of experience working in urban planning and design with knowledge in geospatial analysis, mapping and cartography using GIS and CAD tools is required Knowledge of industry leading applications for urban analysis, such as ArcGIS, Auto CAD,QGIS, Earth Engine, Sketch-up and Adobe is desirable Other office software skills like Microsoft Office, PowerBI is an asset
