Municipal Manager – 3 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
- Answerable to the board and implement the decisions and functions of the board as per Urban Areas and Cities Act,2011 Section 20 and 21
- Manage Administration in accordance to the Urban and Cities Areas Act, 2011 and applicable legislations.
- Formulation and implementation of policies, strategies, plans and programs
- Develop, implement an integrated Development Plan and monitor its progress
- Act on behalf of the Municipal Board by ensuring the execution of the decisions of the Board
- Prepare and present for approval to the Board of the Municipality, an annual estimate of revenue and expenditure.
- Be principally responsible for building and maintaining a strong alliance and effective working relationships between the Board and the civil society, private sector and community based organizations;
- Prepare, and submit to the Board an annual report on the activities and accomplishments of the departments and agencies comprising the executive branch of the Municipality.
- Act as Board Secretary and as an ex-officio member of all committees of the Board; and
- Exercise supervision over all departments and agencies of the Municipality and coordination of its activities
- Enforce the provisions of this Charter, Municipal By-laws, and all applicable laws; and other Municipality decisions;
- Prepare and administer the annual Municipality budget;
- Administer Municipality utilities and property;
- Encourage and support regional and intergovernmental cooperation;
- Promote cooperation among the Board of the Municipality, staff and citizens in developing Municipality policies and building a sense of community;
- Exercise such other powers as may be prescribed by Charter, by-laws and applicable laws.
- Any other duties as directed by the Board
Requirements for Appointment
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a university recognized in Kenya
- Possession of a relevant Master’s Degree would be an added advantage
- Must have at least Six (6) years experience, four (4) years of which must have been in a senior management level in reputable organization;
- Must be computer literate in Microsoft package from a recognized institution;
- Understanding national goals, policies and development objectives of vision 2030;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrate a thorough understanding of socio-economic dynamics in Murang’a County
- Be a strategic thinker and result oriented Wide knowledge in Urban Development Policies and Financial Management
- Good knowledge and interpretation of key and related Urban Areas and Cities Legislations and Policies, Knowledge of Municipal Operations and Delegation of Powers
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution on Leadership and integrity

Clinical Officers – 20 Posts
Duties and responsibilities
- Performing routine medical and surgical procedures
- Interpreting medical tests and prescription of treatment
- Medical assessment and referral where necessary
- Supervising and counselling of staff engaged in routine patient’s care
- Giving support and health education to patient’s
- Perform other clinical work as may be directed by the senior officers
Requirements for Appointment
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery
- Licensed with Clinical Officers’ Council
Economist II/Statistician II
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collecting, collating and analysing data in the relevant sectors;
- Compiling sector specific draft reports;
- Providing support in the preparation of policy briefs and reports on the relevant sectors;
- Capturing data on budgetary requirements;
- Uploading information in the County Integrated Monitoring and Evaluation System (CIMES).
Requirements for appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
- Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines; Economics, Statistics, Economics and Mathematics, Economics and Finance or Economics and Statistics from a recognized institution;
- Have a Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution;

Civil Engineers – 2 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
An Officer at this level will work under a senior officer.
Duties will include:
- Designing,
- Preparation of drawings
- Supervision of construction of civil, marine and structural works
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
- A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent and relevant qualification form a recognized Institution;
- Been registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya (ERB) as a Graduate Engineer; and
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

ICT Officers – 2 Posts
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
- Developing, Analyzing, designing, coding, testing, implementing computer programs providing user support;
- Maintaining support systems and training of users;
- Repairing and maintaining of Information Communication Technology equipment and associated peripherals;
- Receiving, installing and certifying of Information Communication Technology equipment;
- Configuring of new Information Communication Technology equipment.
Requirements for Appointment
- For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Software Engineering, or any other ICT related discipline with a bias in software development from a recognized Institution;

Hospital Administrator
Requirements for appointment
- Served in the grade of Deputy Chief Health Administrative Officer or in a comparable position for a minimum period of (3) years;
- A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following Social Sciences: Government, Anthropology, Sociology, Business Administration, Public Administration, Commerce, Economics, Law or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution; and
- Demonstrated outstanding professional competence and administrative ability in the management of health services in a large health institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
- A Senior Deputy Chief Health Administrative Officer will deputize the Chief Health Administrative Officer and will be deployed at the County Headquarters.
- Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:
- Formulation, implementation, Coordination and evaluation of health administrative policies, services and programmes:
- Co-ordinating major health administration functions and ensuring timely completion of tasks
- Supervision, deployment, training and development of Health Administrative Staff.
