Simulation Education Analyst, CIME-EA

Job Purpose/Summary

The Simulation Education Analyst, will work closely with faculty in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Medical College to design and assist in the delivery of simulation- based courses, sessions, and activities for their undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. The incumbent will also work closely with colleagues in AKU Hospital to design and oversee simulation-based CPD progammes for their staff and assist in the planning and delivery of events and workshops for external clients while ensuring that all simulation-based programmes adhere to standards and policies of CIME. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Works with faculty School of Nursing and Midwifery and Medical College and colleagues in designing and developing courses, workshops and programmes for their undergraduate and post- graduate programmes.
  • Supports and runs life support courses as necessary.
  • Assists in the day-to-day administration and operation of the Centre’s activities in teaching and learning, research and community engagement.
  • Works effectively within project teams implementing pedagogies appropriate to the context. Disseminates information locally and participates in events to have a national impact.
  • Utilises technological developments and innovations in support of faculty educational needs.
  • Identifies redundant or obsolete methods of teaching and integrates research in simulation- based programmes and advises faculty accordingly.
  • Contributes to audit of CIME facilities; market research in simulation education and evaluation of simulation-based courses.
  • Assists in the organisation and delivery of events and workshops for external clients.
  • Keeps up to date documentation of all simulation-based sessions at CIME (curriculum, evaluations and reports)
  • Writes simulation specific scholarly articles and research proposals.
  • Analyses data generated from the simulation-based sessions and make inferences to inform future courses.
  • Undertakes programmes of CPD as required to maintain currency of skills and knowledge.
  • Undertakes assignments in relation to Clinical Simulation in campuses across AKU.
  • Contributes to Research Activities in CIME to improve educational, technical or administrative functions.

Relevant Experience and Qualifications 

  • Degree in health sciences in the field of medicine or nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience is preferable, though fresh graduates may also apply.
  • Previous experience of simulation-based learning is highly desirable
  • Ability to work independently in planning, designing, and evaluating simulation-based programmes
  • Internal drive to initiate new programmes
  • Competence at Analyst level in 16 identified clinical simulation competencies at CIME.
  • Sound academic record with interest in teaching and learning through technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational, information management and computer skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail, focused on providing a high quality experience to visitors and learners.
  • A team player who supports other team members.

Receptionist, Radiology

Responsibilities:

  • Warmly receive and attend to all patients in the Radiology Department.
  • Attend to client enquiries regarding institutional and departmental services.
  • Book patients for Radiological procedures and give correct information on preparation for specific procedures.
  • Attend to incoming and outgoing calls and forward messages promptly to enhance overall communication.
  • Ensure proper identification records are clearly indicated on documents for correct patient identification and easy retrieval when needed.
  • Bill procedures accurately as per the prices set by the institution for financial sustenance of the Department.
  • Participate in preparation of Quality Assurance audits to enable the department achieve its quality objectives.
  • Liaising with Radiologists, Radiology Technicians/ Radiographers and Radiology Nurses to ensure that the daily worklists are optimized with minimal wastage of appointment slots.
  • Confirming appointments and following up with Insurance approvals and NHIF pre-authorization.
  • Show initiative in managing the daily imaging lists. 

 Requirements:

  • Certificate in Front Office /Customer Care Management with a minimum of one years’ experience in a similar position. Training in Financial Management will be considered as an added advantage.
  • Should be proficient in computers and have excellent organisational and communication skills. 
  • Must possess adequate understanding of the operations within the Radiology Department.
  • Should be proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate maturity. 
  •  Must be capable of working under minimal supervision.
