The United Nations Secretariat, Agencies, Funds and Programmes based in Kenya is recruiting the following position to fill and populate the UN Kenya Common Roster for Kenya-based UN Offices for General Service and National Officer positions. Under the overall guidance of the Head of the specific Agency/Organization, this post may report to M&E Associate, Operations Analyst or the designated supervisor of the respective entity.
This job may be found in Field based Offices and include verification of planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, collect and summarise programme/project data. Within delegated authority, the Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant works in close collaboration with staff in the respective office and other UN offices to ensure consistent service delivery.
Responsibilities
The Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant will perform the following: Main Duties (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
- Support programme and project managers in designing and implementation of the Monitoring and Evaluation frameworks and plans, in line with Programme and Operations Policies and Procedures with appropriate tracking tools.
- Provide input to the preparation of annual work plans and budgets and participate in defining targets and indicators to ensure consistency with approved country programme and project documents.
- Support the mapping of business processes and elaboration of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in programme and project oversight.
- Assist in the development of a consolidated reporting system with designated sections for each project and preparation of regular progress reports on activities undertaken, results achieved against targets and plan for follow up actions.
- Support Project Quality Assurance documentation, risk assessment, and any other required templates and documentation.
- Assist project teams in conducting project steering committee, working group and other meetings through organization of meeting, and recording of minutes.
- Identify and document success stories, achievements and lessons learned and ensure continuous knowledge sharing across project offices.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- Assist with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
- Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Monitoring & Evaluation, Business Administration, Project Management or any other related field is desirable
Job – Specific Qualification
- Relevant training in Project/Programme Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Business Administration or other related areas is desirable.
Work Experience
- A minimum of Five (5) years of progressive experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Programme, assisting project planning and reporting is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) years for candidates who possess a first level University degree.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Experience in using integrated information management systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is desirable.
- One (1) year of work experience within the United Nations or similar international organization is desirable.
- One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
- For the post advertised, fluency in English required and knowledge of a local language is desirable.
- NOTE: ‘Fluency’ equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and ‘Knowledge of’ equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.
Assessment
- Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include a substantive assessment, such as a written test, which will be followed by a competency-based interview by phone or teleconference.
