Grants Coordinator
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Grants Coordinator, you’ll be the CMO’s right hand in all things grants. Your role will span the entire lifecycle of grants—from sourcing opportunities to drafting budgets, tracking projects, and ensuring everything stays on track.
Here’s what success looks like:
- Own Grant Processes (and Keep Us Organized!):
- Join all meetings with funders and partners, taking detailed notes and managing follow-ups.
- Respond to funders and partners promptly, always within 24 hours, to build strong, lasting relationships.
- Manage grant project trackers and timelines, chasing down deliverables across departments to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
- Grants Development and Management:
- Collaborate with the CMO to draft compelling proposals (don’t worry, we use LLMs to help with writing!).
- Create budgets that align with both Penda’s operational needs and funder guidelines.
- Reporting and Compliance:
- Ensure timely, accurate reporting to funders, meeting all their requirements without a hitch.
- Work with our finance team to track grant spending and ensure budgets are on point.
- Internal Alignment:
- Translate lofty grant ideas into operationally feasible plans that align with Penda’s mission and goals.
- Act as the bridge between funder expectations and internal realities—ensuring everyone is on the same page.

- You’re a Master Organizer: Nothing slips through the cracks on your watch. You can juggle multiple projects, track deadlines like a pro, and follow up with just the right mix of persistence and charm.
- You Understand Grants: You know how to create a budget, manage reporting, and align projects with funder expectations. Bonus points if you’ve worked on large grants ($500K+)!
- You’re a Great Communicator: Whether it’s emailing a funder, following up with a teammate, or presenting project updates, you do it with clarity, professionalism, and a touch of warmth.
- You’re Proactive and Independent: You anticipate needs, solve problems before they arise, and don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do next.
- You Get Penda: You understand our mission, share our values, and are excited about helping us deliver world-class healthcare to the people who need it most.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- 3–5 years of experience in grants management, fundraising, or program coordination.
- A track record of working with budgets and aligning them with organizational priorities.
- Experience managing relationships with funders or external partners.
- Basic knowledge of healthcare systems, digital health, or global health is a bonus but not required.
