Senior Internal Auditor Information Systems
Purpose for the Job
To provide independent assurance, consulting and advisory function to the Board and management of KenTrade meant to add value through the systematic evaluation of the organizations processes and operations to assure the effectiveness and efficiency of compliance, internal control, risk management and governance processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess all areas of the Agency to develop a risk-based annual work plan, for review by the manager internal audit. The plan includes audit activities, risk assessment, risk management coordination, quality management and compliance reviews.
- Conduct assigned audits (regulatory, compliance or operational review/audits) as per the approved internal audit work plan to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations, compliance with relevant laws, policies, procedures and best practice.
- Perform audits of information systems controls including system development life cycle & standards, programming controls, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery system, information security, data integrity, database administration, business continuity and end user control and system maintenance.
- Review compliance with regulations, instructions and procedures in implementation of ICT systems.
- Conduct regular internal control assessments of the Agency’s Information Systems and ICT Infrastructure.
- Identify the level of conformance with established rules, regulations policies and procedures and recommend suitability of internal control design and areas for improvement.
- Conduct audits of revenue and expenditure from time to time to ensure that controls to safeguard them are maintained at all times.
- Prepare audit working papers to ensure that adequate documentation exists to support the completed audits and conclusions as per the Global Internal Audit Standards.
- Effectively test and document the results of audit carried out ensuring that conclusions, findings and recommendations are properly supported.
- Prepare and present written and oral reports and other technical information in a pertinent, concise, and accurate manner for distribution to management.
- Conduct operational, compliance, financial and special audits, as assigned.
- Follow up, monitor & validate implementation of audit recommendations to ensure that management has taken corrective action(s).
- Prepare draft audit committee board papers, reports and minutes.
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience
- At least three (3) years’ experience in information systems auditing.
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Systems or any other relevant degree or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
- Certification in Information Systems Audit.
- Membership with the Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA) and in good standing.
- Certified Public Accountant of Kenya CPA(K) will be an added advantage.
- Membership to the Institute of Internal Auditors in Good Standing (IIA) or Membership with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in Good Standing will be an added advantage.
- Management/Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Meets provision of chapter six of the Constitution.
System Administrator
Purpose for the Job
The Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of IT services and performance of the organization’s Systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain enterprise servers, networks, and storage solutions.
- Implement and enforce system policies and best practices.
- Perform system updates, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting IT-related issues.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance IT infrastructure and system efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies and regulatory requirements.
- Manage user accounts, access controls, and system permissions.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for IT-related procurements and support.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Any other duties assigned by the supervisor related to the role.
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in system administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Windows and Linux server Operating Systems
- Experience with cloud platforms, virtualization, and network administration.
- Strong knowledge of Systems security best practices.
- Professional certifications -Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Equivalent

Infrastructure Engineer
Purpose of the job
The main purpose is to support the implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and securing of the organization’s ICT infrastructure, ensuring the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of Power systems, Data centers, networks, servers, cloud services, and related systems while supporting business operations and digital transformation initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, set up and configure complex switching environments, wireless networks (that support secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications) and Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and security appliances for access to vital mission critical applications
- Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls
- Maintain the LAN and its associated components (switches, structured cabling, power provisioning, etc.) and both the wired and the wireless network inclusive of performance, security, throughput and upgrades
- Implement multi-user environments, including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, Ether- Channel
- Provide technical assistance and support to internal staff, vendors, and partner agencies
- Develop and implement upgrades by developing, testing, evaluating and installing enhancements
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for implemented networks
- Ensure that all work and changes to infrastructure components are performed in such a way as to minimize disruptions to existing ICT services
- Keep track of KenTrade’s infrastructure assets and ensure that the infrastructure and data is kept secure at all times
- Ensure that technology is used, managed and supported in accordance with KenTrade’s standards, policies and procedures
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in ICT, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related from a recognized institution
- Professional Certification – CCNA

Network Engineer
Purpose for the Job
The primary role is to analyze, design, install, configure, maintain and repair the network infrastructure and application components and to provide direction, information and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, set up and configure complex switching environments and complex wireless networks that supports secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.
- Configure and set up Cisco Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital mission critical applications
- Maintain network security through proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls.
- Set up and maintain the LAN and its associated components (switches, structured cabling, power provisioning etc).
- Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS.
- Provide technical assistance and support internal staff, vendors, and partner agencies.
- Maintain both the wired & wireless network inclusive of performance, security, throughput and upgrades.
- Implement network upgrades by developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
- Implement effective maintenance of all hardware inclusive of enterprise hardware such as servers, storage, switches, routers, and UPS’s.
- Troubleshoot network hardware and software applications, IP Phones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
- Support KenTrade’s internal networks and links to other sites (Primary site, DR site and Integration points) and the internet and other data lines, to ensure they are configured and working correctly.

Customer Service Officer
Purpose for the Job
The primary role of the Customer Service Officer will be to respond to a variety of customer requests concerning the Single Window System at the various Border points. The Customer Service officer will be the first point of contact and will attend to queries and inquiries via the telephone/ email or site visits.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement a customer service policy for the organization.
- Ensure efficient and prompt handling of all Customers’ inquiries/complaints whether relayed by phone, letter, e-mail or in person.
- Provide system support to KNESWS users through telephone, email or premise visits.
- Provide training to KNESWS users on the business process and operations of the system.
- Implement customer-service standards; respond promptly to customer inquiries; and resolve problems and complaints;
- Identify customer service trends; determine system improvements and implement desired change within agreed timelines
- Keep detailed records of customer interactions and transactions, record details of inquiries, comments, complaints, and of actions taken
- Determine customer service requirements by undertaking research and analyzing customer needs.
- Improve customer service quality results and aid the supervisor in ensuring that all relevant standards within the customer care section are met.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly statistical reports as appropriate.
- Create and maintain a positive, supportive, customer oriented environment for all the organization and non- organization clients
- Supervise and manage all customer service assistants.

Contact Centre Assistant (2 Posts)
Purpose for the Job
Responding to customer requests, queries and complaints through phone calls, emails, social media, web chat and walk-ins. It involves professional handling of customers by providing exceptional customer service in order to fulfil the agency’s mandate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effective management of inbound and outbound enquiries received through telephone calls, e-mail, SMS;
- Ensure that all customers’ queries are addressed according to the KenTrade customer service charter;
- Ensure complaints or compliments are captured in system and escalated to Subject Matter Experts within agreed timelines;
- Prepare operational/daily reports and forward to supervisor;
- Provide advice and communication using “scripts” when handling customers in the most appropriate format, demonstrating due attention to details and professionalism;
- Adhere to day to day running and operations of the Call Centre including set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
- Ensure adherence to systems and processes for timely and accurate reporting;
- Work in coordination with IT and Trade Facilitation and Value Add Services team for quicker response and resolution to customer issues;
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this job role.

Customer Service Assistant
Purpose for the job
The primary role of the Customer Service Officer will be to respond to a variety of customer requests concerning the Single Window System at the various Border Points.
The Customer Service officer will be the first point of contact and will attend to Queries and inquiries via the telephone/ email or site visits.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Answer incoming enquiries and requests for information received by e-mail, fax, SMS or voice mail. Ensuring that all customers’ queries are answered according to KenTrade’s customer service charter.
- Ensure complaints or compliments are keyed in system or escalated to the Supervisor.
- Prepare operational/daily reports as appropriate and forward to the Supervisor.
- Provide advice and assistance to customers in the most appropriate format to meet their needs, demonstrating due attention to customer care and professional approach at all times.
- Receive and process follow up information about previous requests and reports and updating systems as appropriate.
- Use the provided software applications and other electronic information systems appropriately and in accordance with procedure.
- Quickly identify situations requiring specialist information and direct customers appropriately.
- Maintain awareness of all relevant service developments and participate in all aspects of training so as to improve effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.
- Help out in any other area of the Customer Care Department.
Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in a Business, Trade or ICT related field.
