CWC Nurse
Job Purpose/Objective
- Reporting to the facility inhcharge, the MCH nurse will be tasked to provide high-quality maternal, newborn, and child health services, ensuring optimal health outcomes for women, infants, and children Including Overseeing the Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) and Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI) programs in the Facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Maternal Health:
- Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including health assessments, counseling, and education.
- Assist with normal deliveries and conduct emergency deliveries for clients presenting in second stage at the clinic.
- Provide postnatal care, including counseling on breastfeeding, family planning, and newborn care.
- Identify and manage and/or refer high risk conditions during pregnancy and postpartum periods.
- Perform essential procedures such as blood pressure monitoring, fetal heart rate monitoring, and vaginal examinations.
- Provide Maternal EPI services (Tetanus injections) as per schedule.
- Offer family planning counseling and services, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs).
- Provide post-abortion care and cervical cancer screening and treatment services.
Neonatal Health:
- Monitor newborn health and identify any potential complications.
- Monitor breastfeeding and offer guidance on other nutrition options.
- Provide linkage with Nutrition for vulnerable Neonates as per assessment.
- Administer essential neonatal interventions, such as treatment of common ailments and vaccinations.
Child Health:
- Provide immunization services according to the Expanded Program of immunization (EPI) schedule.
- Manage common childhood illnesses, such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and malaria.
- Conduct growth monitoring and promote optimal child development through child welfare clinic (CWC).
- Provide nutritional counseling and support.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients.
- Submit timely reports on maternal, newborn, and child health indicators.
Training and Supervision:
- Participate in training and capacity-building activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

MEAL Officer
JOB OVERVIEW:
- Reporting directly to the County Area Coordinator, the MEAL Officer will lead day-to-day Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) for IRC’s Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preparedness program among refugees and host communities in high-risk areas of Kenya. You will strengthen data collection, quality assurance, accountability and reporting across the program’s target counties and refugee settlements, working closely with County Departments of Health, sub-county coordination structures, health facilities, points of entry, and community health teams to help the program meet its results framework targets and demonstrate that EVD preparedness capacities are functional and improving.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and Partnership
- Support the roll-out of MEAL systems and approaches for the EVD preparedness program at county and settlement level, in line with the overall program strategy;
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with County Departments of Health, sub-county coordination forums, health facility staff, point-of-entry teams and community health promoters to support data quality, use and joint problem-solving;
- Represent IRC at county-level technical and coordination meetings, including relevant Health and WASH cluster or information-management forums, as delegated;
- Support county leaders and program staff in accessing and using data for evidence-based decision-making and real-time program adaptation.
Technical Implementation
- Operationalise the program MEAL plan, results framework, indicator tracking table (ITT) and means-of-verification systems, keeping targets aligned with the approved logframe;
- Develop and maintain data collection tools and support routine data collection across target counties and refugee settlements, including WASH/IPC readiness checklists at points of entry, facility and screening-point functionality assessments, IPC/PPE distribution and receipt records, training pre and post assessments, and community engagement (RCCE) reach data;
- Set up and manage digital data collection tools (such as Kobo, CommCare or ODK) and data flow processes at county, facility and community level;
- Track progress against all outcome and output indicators, ensuring correct sex- and age-disaggregation (women, men, girls, boys) and consistent counting rules to avoid double counting;
- Conduct or support routine data quality checks, audits and verification visits at health facilities, screening points and community units, and document and follow up on data quality action points;
- Maintain a clear audit trail linking reported results to their stated means of verification, including delivery notes, goods received notes, stock cards, registers, attendance sheets and supervision reports;
- Compile and share county-level data summaries, dashboards and progress reports for inclusion in project cycle management meetings and program reporting;
- Establish, operationalise and manage accessible community-based complaints, feedback and response mechanisms for EVD preparedness, including maintaining a rumour and community-concern log and ensuring concerns and misinformation are recorded, verified, referred and addressed in a timely way;
- Support the design, roll-out and data collection for county-level assessments, surveys and evaluations (such as baseline, midline and endline) and functionality assessments of points of entry, facilities and screening points;
- Identify and document lessons learned and good practices from county-level implementation and share these to inform program adaptation.
Capacity Building
- Provide on-the-job coaching and mentorship to community health promoters, data clerks, enumerators and other county-level staff on MEAL tools, data collection and data quality standards;
- Support the onboarding and training of county-level data collectors and facility focal points, where applicable.
Client Responsiveness
- Sensitize community members, health facility staff and county stakeholders on IRC’s complaints and feedback channels to strengthen client responsiveness and accountability;
- Conduct regular focus group discussions and meetings with different stakeholders, including women, youth, persons with disabilities, older persons and refugees, to solicit feedback on IRC’s work and ensure sensitive concerns are referred confidentially through established pathways.

REQUIREMENTS
- MEAL Officers have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, health informatics, monitoring and evaluation, or a related subject area);
- A minimum of 3 to 4 years of working experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning-related functions, preferably within public health, humanitarian health or emergency preparedness and response programs;
- Demonstrated experience operationalising results frameworks, indicator tracking tables and means-of-verification systems;
- Proficiency in mobile data collection tools such as Kobo, CommCare or ODK Collect, and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with EPI Info, STATA, Power BI or similar software is an asset;
- Demonstrated data quality assurance and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail;
- Experience setting up and managing community feedback and complaints mechanisms and applying accountability to affected populations (AAP) standards;
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to work with diverse county-level stakeholders and to train and support non-specialist data collectors;
- Working knowledge of data protection principles, including safeguarding of personally identifiable information (PII) and de-identification of public health data;
- Willingness to travel extensively within the allocated counties and refugee settlements to support field-level and health facility data collection;
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili.

Emergency Manager
Main Responsibilities
- The Emergency Manager will provide oversight in the delivery of DRR and EMERGENCY RESPONSE projects, identify strategic partners and develop an appropriate implementation strategy that ensures access to both safe water and hygiene/sanitation services. She/he will ensure that an engagement approach to working with communities and the local authorities, other partners is employed, and all activities are carried out in a way that upholds IRC core values, is sensitive to community needs and promotes the full and equal participation of women, men, children, youth, people with disabilities and special interest groups. Project planning and design
- Spearhead rapid/field needs assessment including Baseline surveys in emergency response activities and determining most technically appropriate water supply and sanitation options.
- Lead in the design and development of relevant specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Emergency response initiatives.
- Develop and implement an appropriate and effective strategy in consultation with other emergency response staff and field managers.
- Support in the identification of and planning for disaster and project risks.
- Ensure that all projects are aligned to the country strategy and priority areas.
Project implementation
- Manage the emergency response projects to meet the project objectives within the approved budgets and time limit.
- Continuously monitor and supervise emergency response activities, overseeing the technical design, execution, and evaluation of progress.
- Review and approval of tender documents including technical specifications, bill of quantities, drawings, and terms of reference.
- Ensure integration of DRR, beneficiary participation and accountability mechanisms in all aspects of the project.
- Ensure effective and efficient management of project contracts for third party entities including consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Build and maintain a good working relationship with contractors, partners, stakeholders and clients.
Project monitoring and evaluation
- In consultation with MEAL develop a robust monitoring and evaluation framework within the required standards.
- Supervise emergency response activities in strict adherence to agreed SOPs, IRC Kenya policies, Kenya government regulations and standards, the donor’s guideline, and the humanitarian standards.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects activities including payments to suppliers, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure that up to date project documents are in place including approved work plans, log frame, risk matrix, detailed project implementation plan and financial forecasts.
- Ensure water safety and disaster risk management plans for the water supply projects are in place.
Fundraising and networking
- Develop new proposals, linked to the country SAP, in consultation with the relevant managers.
- Participate in relevant networks to ensure IRC is appropriately represented regarding humanitarian interventions, including relevant UN cluster meetings and line ministries.
Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of emergency response interventions including progress reports,
- monthly, quarterly, semi- annual and end of projects reports in accordance with donors’ and
- IRC Kenya requirements.
- Provide regular updates on emergency response activities and program progress against work plan as may be required.
- Maintain an up-to-date activity and indicator tracking tool (soft copies and hard copies) of all emergency response activities.
- Ensure proper documentation of lessons learnt and best management practices.
- Actively participate in inter-sectoral activities.
- Support department in other tasks, roles and, responsibilities as may be assigned to by the supervisor.
Staff Management
- Ensure that emergency response staff adhere to the IRC core values, code of conduct, policies, and established ways of working.
- Provide mentorship and technical supervision for emergency response staff including day-to-day management, development and training, appraisals, etc.
- Facilitate regular meetings to assist in sharing information between project staff, to ensure all staff members are aware of project objectives, progress, current work plans and to provide the opportunity for feedback.

Required Qualifications:
- Degree in environmental health science, community development, social development, nursing, public health, or related field. A minimum of Three years’ experience working/programming in emergency response, humanitarian work or development.

- Airbel Ventures is the IRC’s impact investing arm, launched in July 2025 to bridge humanitarian need and private-sector innovation. - Deal Sourcing: Identify and cultivate relationships with relevant startups, accelerators/incubators, and investors across Africa.
- Due Diligence: Lead due diligence processes, including market analysis, financial modeling, impact assessment, and risk evaluation. Develop Investment Memos (IMs) to present to the Investment Committee.
- Portfolio Management: Support portfolio companies post-investment through strategic guidance, fundraising support, and impact assessments, and build traction and use cases in humanitarian markets in coordination with IRC’s Country Programs and technical teams.
