Job Description/Requirements
Role Overview:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) holds overall responsibility for the growth and success of the business. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in managing and developing retail operations, with at least 10 years of work experience. A minimum of 5 years should be in managerial or supervisory roles, particularly in sales, marketing, or business development.
The BDM will be responsible for executing the company’s growth strategy, as defined by the CEO, and ensuring the successful delivery of business goals. This role will involve oversight of key business functions, with the Senior Accountant and Operations Manager directly reporting to the BDM.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strategy Execution: Work closely with the CEO to implement business growth strategies and ensure targets are met.
• Leadership: Manage and guide teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Oversee the performance of the Senior Accountant and Operations Manager.
• Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and avenues for growth within the retail sector.
• Sales & Marketing: Oversee and optimize sales and marketing efforts to drive revenue growth and brand recognition.
• Operational Management: Collaborate with the Shop Managers and Operations Manager to streamline processes and improve efficiency across the organization.
• Financial Oversight: Ensure financial goals and budgets are met in collaboration with the Senior Accountant, maintaining profitability while managing costs.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of work experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role (Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, or Business Development Manager) in the retail industry.
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage teams and deliver results.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong background in developing and executing business growth strategies.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the CEO, senior management, and teams.
• Business Acumen: A deep understanding of retail operations, business development, and financial management.
Internal: Shop Managers, Senior Accountant, Operations Manager,
External: Regulatory bodies e.g. Industry Stakeholders.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The jobholder is required to work normal working hours in an office environment with occasional long working hours and sometimes working over the weekends. At times may be called upon to address emergency situations.
EXPECTED MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
Academic and Professional qualifications
• At least a Business Diploma with but with some Accounting and Financial Skills, preferably a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Sales and Marketing, Business development orientation with significant experience in driving business.
• Good understanding of Financial Accounting and regulatory requirements.

• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suites
• Proficient in Sales and Marketing
• Good knowledge of Customer behaviors
• Good knowledge of Human Resource Management
• Negotiation and Interpersonal Skills
Expected remuneration: Circa Kshs 1.8M to Kshs 2.4M Gross per annum gross, with added commission based remuneration based on targets set plus benefits.
