Deputy Vice Chancellor
JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidates will be responsible for Academic and student Affairs as well as Administrative and Finance functions.
ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE
For Appointment to this office, the applicant must :
- Be of the rank of an Associate Professor/Professor and a holder of an earned Doctorate degree or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
- Have thorough knowledge of the structural, legislative and regulatory framework for administering University education in Kenya;
- Have at least five years’ hands-on experience at a senior level in a University or equivalent institution with demonstrable; Academic and research leadership, financial and administrative management capacity;
- Have demonstrable leadership in an academic and/or research institution, having served substantively with measurable results in senior administrative posts such as of:
- Deputy Principal, Dean/Director, Principal of a Constituent University/College of a University/Campus or leadership of comparable levels in other similar institutions;
- Have demonstrable experience in development and implementation of University academic policies and guidelines.
- Be an accomplished scholar with proven track record in research and publications in peer reviewed journals, monographs and books;
- Have experience in designing and managing academic programs, supervising and mentoring Masters and PhD students;
- Have sufficient experience in networking, fundraising and resource mobilization;
- Have demonstrable experience in transformative and strategic leadership;
- Have demonstrable growth in the entity s/he is now leading;
- Demonstrable evidence of having been a great team player at senior management level, preferably within a university set up.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:
The Deputy Vice Chancellor will be reporting to the Vice Chancellor. He/she will be accountable to and under the general authority of the Vice Chancellor. His/her duties will include:
- Providing innovative and creative leadership in the areas of Academics, planning, financial, human resource and physical resource management to ensure provision of quality teaching, research, Financial management and community engagement in line with the University’s Vision and Mission.
- Overseeing the implementation of all fiscal, human resources, administrative policies and appropriate procedures to ensure efficient performance and delivery of services in the university and in line with the strategic plan;
- Coordinating the preparation and implementation of university budget, financial statements and management reports;
- Be responsible for the development, reviewing, and revision of academic curricula, for purposes of relevance, quality assurance and accreditation.
- Oversee and coordinate the implementation of academic policies and regulations as laid down by the University Council, the Senate and the Management Board.
- Overseeing the work of the Registrar, Academic Affairs; Deans of Schools, Dean of Students, and the Directors (Research, Institutes/ Campus and Quality Assurance) and provide overall supervision with regard to their activities and outputs.
- Coordinating the implementation of the performance management within the university;
- Mobilizing and soliciting financial support for programmes and general development of the university;
- Maintaining efficiency and good order of the university and ensuring enforcement of statutes and regulations; and,
- Overseeing the selection, hiring, retention, performance evaluation and other personnel decisions associated with faculty and staff and ensuring general conduct and discipline of employees amongst other duties that may be assigned
- Serve as the Secretary to Senate and provide able leadership as Chairperson of the relevant Senate Committees.
- Participate in various governance organs of the university such as the management board and Committees of the Council
- Support the Vice-Chancellor in the administration and management of the University on a day-to- day basis.
- Represent PUEA in various forums and maintain partnerships with other necessary organizations as advised by the Vice-Chancellor
- Carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may be delegated by the ViceChancellor in a quest to drive the Vision and Mission of the PUEA.

University Registrar

ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE
For Appointment to this office, the applicant must have:
Academic and professional qualifications:
- Have a relevant Bachelor’s and Masters Degree in Administration, Public Administration, Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Communication, Educational Communication, Project Planning, Education or any other related, relevant disciplines from a university recognized in Kenya;
- A Ph.D. in the relevant disciplines
- Membership in good standing to relevant Professional body (ies) will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a recognized University or college. Preferably currently at the level of a Senior Lecturer.
Experience and skills
- Twelve (12) years administrative experience, of which 3 years should be at Deputy Registrar or equivalent.
- Have outstanding professional competence in administration and Management
- Administrative skills including: People skills, organization, communication, time management, and customer care
- Computer literacy
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities shall include but are not limited to:
- Efficient facilitation of University management and administrative programmes.
- Interpretation and implementation of government policies, circulars, regulations and management decisions;
- Ensuring compliance with legislations, statutes, policies and guidelines;
- Secretary to University Executive Board, Staff Appointment and staff disciplinary committees; Secretariat to University Council committee of Human Resource and Administration, and ad-hoc committees
- Custodian of University official records in accordance with legislative, statutory and policies guidelines;
- Coordination of university-wide events including training, protocol and event management;
- Staff welfare;
- Any other duty given as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor from time to time.

- Competency in a specialized field of teaching

Lecturers in Nursing

JOB SUMMARY:
- The successful candidates will be responsible developing, managing, monitor implementation and revision of Bachelor of Science in Nursing programmes in;
- Medical – Surgical
- Midwifery
- The Lecturers will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accordance with the University’s strategy, policy and procedures, contribute to activities which influence leading-edge practice and may also undertake research activities, community extension, networking and partnerships
ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE
The holder of this post will report to the Head of Department in the execution of his/her duties, and will contribute toward meeting the key performance indicators and targets of the department, and the overall mission and vision of the university.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Teaching and training in the areas indicated .
- Curricula development and Review
- Grant writing and Research and Innovation activities
- Engage in fund-raising activities in the Department
- Student supervision and mentoring
- Mentoring of junior staff
- Publications and other forms of dissemination of knowledge
- Engage in professional development activities
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and accreditation requirements by relevant regulatory bodies
- To support the Head of Department and other programme leaders in the department to manage the ongoing strategic development of programmes and administration in the department.
- To assess students’ overall performance, through setting/ marking programme work, practical sessions, supervisions, fieldwork and examinations, providing appropriate feedback to students.
- Engage in any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, from time to time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE EDUCATION
- An applicant must be a holder of a PhD in Nursing or an equivalent qualification from a recognized University
- Evidence of peer reviewed publications, with minimum 28 points from the time
- appointed as a lecturer or senior lecturer
- Registration with relevant professional bodies Experience
- At least three (3) years of full time teaching at the University level as a Lecturer OR a
- minimum of six (6) years of industry experience in the relevant field
- Supervised a minimum of three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer
- Familiarity with quality assurance and accreditation requirements by relevant
- regulatory organizations so as to contribute to the accreditation of programmes and
- quality control processes.
- Experience in grant writing and demonstrable ability to lead research projects, win
- bids and generate income is an added advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Evidence of participation in research activities
- Evidence of fund-raising capability
- Ability to work in a team
- Demonstrate high level of integrity
- Develop ideas for generating income and promoting the subject
- Demonstrate marketing capability that includes attraction and retention of students into the programmes on offer in the department

Internal Auditor

JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out independent assessments of the University’s systems of internal control and advise the management and Council on their appropriateness and effectiveness.
ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- A holder of a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business AdministrationFinance option.
- Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration-Finance option.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)K.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
- A member of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
- A member of Institute of Internal Auditors.
- Must have at least eight (8) years audit experience.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
- Technical auditing and accounting skills.

- Keen interest on financial systems.

THE DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE INTERNAL AUDITOR SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING
- Develop and implement annual risk based internal audit plan that outlines the activities to be undertaken by the Internal Audit department.
- Lead the Internal Audit Department as per the Approved Internal Audit Charter and
- Internal Audit Plan, regulatory guidelines and the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Guidelines and Standards.
- Carry out independent assessments of the University’s systems of internal control and advise the management and Board on their appropriateness and effectiveness.
- Determine the level of compliance with internal policies, procedures, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present timely audit reports to the Audit, Governance and Risk
- Committee of the Council.
- Conduct post audit reviews to assess the implementation of recommendations outlined in both external and internal audit reports; liaise with the external auditors on the both interim and final audits and agree with the respective departments the action plans required, guide and support the departments in the necessary preparation.
- Prepare, implement and review of the department’s strategic plan and annual work plan.
- Prepare the department’s annual budget and procurement plan; and conduct annual appraisal of members of staff in the department.
- Perform such other official duties assigned by the Vice Chancellor.
