Intern – Public Information – Digital Strategy

Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the intern may be responsible for the following duties:

  • Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of social media and web content, often under tight deadlines.
  • Monitor analyze statistics related to digital content.
  • Gather social media and web content at special events (film screenings, concerts, exhibits, etc.).
  • Assist in the creation of original content for digital platforms.
  • Attend meetings as an observer.
  • Manage meeting agendas and draft meeting notes.
  • Create presentations and training curricula.
  • Carry out research tasks and provide inputs into digital strategy planning and activities.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.

Education
Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with Bachelor’s degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Preferred areas of studies: Communications, Information Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Media Studies, Journalism, or related field.

Information Officer – Internal Communication Specialist (TJO), P3

Responsibilities

  • Content and activity implementation:
    •  Plan and implement content and activities against the internal communication strategy and defined objectives and targets, tracking progress on the status of strategy implementation and resource mobilization;
    •  Work in close coordination with all UNEP offices, divisions, regions, and associates.
  • Strategy implementation:
    •  Implement, monitor, and revise an internal communication strategy for UNEP, undertaking broad consultation with stakeholders as required, and advising and ensuring appropriate tools and channels are used throughout the organization in accordance with appropriate governance/guidance.
  • Event production and communication support:
    •  Support the planning and execution of UNEP events, within and beyond the division;
    •  Perform the function of a communication officer and undertake other duties as assigned and when required;
    •  Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
    •  Serve as the division’s sustainability focal point;
  • UNEP and UN system communication coordination:
    •  Serve as secretariat for UNEP on the relationship with the United Nations Communications Group including weekly briefings and engagement with the global group.
    •  Support the coordination of communication mandates and activities between UNEP and the rest of the UN system of organisations.
  • Conference reporting management:
    •  Support the management of long term arrangement for conference reporting services and facilitate conference reporting transactions between clients and service providers, ensuring appropriate dissemination and amplification through UNEP channels.

Work Experience

Responsibilities
Human Resources Management

  •  Initiates, processes, monitors, reviews and follows-up on actions related to the administration of the unit’s human resource activities, e.g., recruitment, placement, relocation, promotion, performance appraisal, job classification reviews, separation, training etc., ensuring consistency in the application of regulations and procedures.
  •  Enters, maintains, and certifies administrative data and records for time and attendance, performance appraisal, etc. in electronic information systems.
  •  Reviews entitlements-related claims and reports.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in administrative services, finance, accounting, audit, human resources or related area is required.
