Electrical Engineer – Steam Field

Job Description
 Duties and responsibilities

  • Planning and carrying out scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Identifying calibration needs of all electrical monitoring and testing equipment.
  • Preparing and submitting technical reports.
  • Ensuring station housekeeping to set standards.
  • Installing, testing and commissioning new or refurbished plant equipment and systems.
  • Planning and carrying out regular safety inspections; raising notifications, creating.
  • Confirming and completing work orders in the plant maintenance management system.
  • Raising purchase requests in the plant maintenance management system.
  • Managing costs to ensure optimal operations; interpreting, modify or come up with technical drawings as per work requirement.
  • Designing and reviewing drawings for new or refurbished systems.
  • Maintaining test equipment inventory for plant and auxiliaries.
  • Preparing technical specifications and estimates for tendering process.
  • Verifying new machine spare parts; witnessing factory acceptance testing for equipment and systems as required; conducting routine checks and observation of plant
  • Adhering to the PPA requirements and ensure the set targets are attained.
  • Ensuring availability of electrical and instrumentation spares, working tools and equipment.
  • Complying with relevant ISO standards; monitoring the systems performance introducing changes and propose improvement and modification as necessary.

  • Carrying out diagnostics and troubleshooting of faults of the plant and auxiliaries.

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • At least 1 year relevant work expereince.
  • CAD Knowledge;
  • Proficiency in computer application skills; and
  • Registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya.

Principal Legal Officer – Compliance 

Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Legal- Compliance.

Job Description
Duties and responsibilities

  • Checking for activities in the legislative and regulatory environment that have a direct and indirect impact on the Company’s operations.
  • Preparing and drafting amendments to legislations affecting the Company.
  • Participate in public fora where legislations affecting the Company are being discussed.
  • Prepare compliance matrix and risk register for the Company.
  • Lobby the relevant stakeholders on legislative issues affecting the Company.
  • Develop the annual compliance work plan that reflects the Company’s unique operations.
  • Regularly review and update the compliance matrix in the context of the regulatory changes.
  • Prepare and present compliance reports to the Board and the management committee.
  • Liaise with the relevant regulators and government agencies on compliance issues affecting the Company.
  • Coordinate internal compliance review and monitor activities, including periodic reviews of departments’ compliance matrices.

For appointment to this position, an Officer must have:

  • Minimum of 8 years post admission experience in a busy law firm or public/commercial entity, 4 of which should have been at a supervisory level.
  • Masters degree in Law from a recognized Institution.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized Institution.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
  • Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing

Duties and responsibilities

  • Prepare and file legal documents at court registries, such as plaints, statements of defenses, response to claims, appeals, list of documents and witnesses, witness statements, bundle of documents, applications, etc.
  • Represent the Company in courts (Superior and Subordinate Courts), tribunals, and before government agencies.
  • Conduct pre-trial briefings and site visits.

  • Carrying out Intellectual Property audits and register identified patents, trademarks industrial designs and copyright. 
  • Overseeing and rollout a corporate innovation system 
  • Facilitating the development of skills, processes, values, and mind-sets to anchor innovation across the business 
  • Developing the Company innovation policy 
  • Overseeing the annual G2G technical seminar to tap on innovative new ideas 
  • Overseeing and driving quick-wins (rapid results initiatives) implementation 
  • Managing an online innovation dashboard where ideas, concepts are posted for onward scoping and implementation 
  • Developing metrices to continually measure the Company’s innovation performance as well as its progress in embedding innovation as a core competence.
