Job Summary
Performs and analyses laboratory samples in order to provide results for medical practitioners to diagnose treat and prevent diseases. Assists Laboratory manager with supervision of staff under him or her and functions as per delegated responsibilities
Qualifications
For appointment to this post, a candidate must have;
- Bachelor’s Degree / Higher National Diploma / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board;
- Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
- 4-5 years working experience and in a supervisory position.
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
Key Responsibilities
- Perform the role of medical technologist as required in accordance to operational needs in diagnostic testing procedures.
- Assists the Laboratory manager to supervise and train staff in line with delegated responsibilities to ensure that operational objectives are achieved.
- Ensures the implementation of quality standards in accordance with standard operating procedures set for the department.
- Interacts with pathologists on technical matters to provide all relevant data that may pertain to the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of diseases.
- Assists the Lab manager to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with relevant legislation and all safety protocols. This includes maintenance of on-going maintenance of quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste and project management (as per delegated responsibilities) of the preparation process for internal and external quality control audits.
- Assists the Lab manager to ensure that incidents and other issues causing TAT delays are reported on time, thereby ensuring compliance with relevant organisational policy and laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Ensures that departmental coverage is well outlined by preparing duty rosters and assist in monitoring staff attendance.
- Manages stock in his/her department by ensuring orders, departmental issues and stock take is done on time to avoid stock outs.
- Ensures that equipment’s and machine’s in his/her department are well calibrated maintained and serviced as per service level agreement.
- Implements sound housekeeping procedures and work effectively with others as a member of a team to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with safety protocols.
- Assists the Lab manager in preparation of internal and external (SANAS) audits by ensuring that all tests/equipment are validated and both IQC and EQA are in place for effective operation and accurate results.
- Attends in-service training and seminars and participates in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up-to-date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
- Adheres to professional conduct requirements in line with organizational policy and relevant professional body ethical standards.
Laboratory Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Laboratory Manager will oversee all the laboratory operations including analysis of laboratory samples in order to provide results for medical practitioners to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases. He/ She will also assist the Regional Manager with supervision of staff and functions as per delegated responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Laboratory Diagnostic Services
- Generates daily management reports as required to monitor work and performance status of the lab.
- Interacts with pathologists on technical matters to provide all relevant data that may pertain to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of diseases.
- Ensures that incidents and results delays are reported by laboratory staff, thereby ensuring compliance with relevant organizational policy and laboratory standard operating procedures.
- Resulting of send away tests.
- Verifies the turnaround times for all tests done at site.
- Verifies the interface verification of some tests.
- Verifies manual result entry of some tests.
- Participates in validation of some tests on various analyzers.
- Attends and resolves the incompletes for the site.
- Hands-on specimen preparation and analysis
- Comprehensive knowledge of Medi-tech
- Ensuring pre-analytical processes are adhered to.
- Functional knowledge of test procedures.
- Functional knowledge of instrumentation and equipment.
- Consulting on cases.
- Data capturing, accurately and timeously.
- Maintenance of equipment.

- Proper stock management in the lab.
Customer Service
- Follow up patient report at the site and communicate of any relevant information to the client affected.
- Ensure proper patient identification procedure is followed.
- Customer liaison: attending and resolving walk-in-client queries.
- Attending to phone calls and attending to the queries.
- Ensure customer satisfaction.
Quality Control/Assessment
- Participates in inter lab QCs.
- Monitor internal QCs.
- Monitor trends of each analyte and action accordingly.
- Preparing and ensuring laboratory meets KENAS accreditation standards.
Training
- Assists the Regional Manager to supervise and train staff in line with delegated responsibilities and /or deputizing requirements to ensure that operational objective are achieved, colleagues are able to achieve their performance objective and interns and students are trained and guided appropriately.
- Attends in-service training and seminars and participates in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements. This includes ensuring the availability of up-to-date records that can be presented immediately on request thereof.
- Participates in EQA programs.
Health and Safety
- Assists the Regional Manager to ensure a safe working environment in accordance with relevant legislation and all safety protocols. This includes maintenance of on-going maintenance of quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste and project management (as per delegated responsibilities) of the preparation process for internal and external quality control audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

Nurse (3 Positions)
Job Summary
The position holder will provide comprehensive clinical services in line with Cerba Lancet Kenya’s guidelines to their clients and at the outreaches. He/she is expected to be a team player with support from the rest of the team members and other project staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, register, record and document patients’ information on the eHMIS and present the same to the Medical Officers/Medical Specialist/Health care provider at the consulting office.
- Transfer patients from office for further diagnosis or specialized treatment from other units of the OPC within the OPC.
- Provide general nursing services and care to patients in the OPC.
- Support Healthcare providers, Medical Officers and Medical Specialists in attending to patients.
- Administer medication to patients as prescribed by Medical Officers and Medical Specialists.
- Administer patient care and nursing to outpatients in the OPC.
- Monitor and document patients’ progress and report the same to the Medical Officers and Medical Specialists in the OPC.
- Liaise with other healthcare staff in handling patients with multiple or complex medical conditions.
- Ensure that the nursing areas of the hospital are clean and tidy complying with sanitation standards of the OPC.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned in the area of health care.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya and Valid Practice License
- Must have a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of relevant legislations
- Knowledge of professional standards
- At least one (1) year working experience as a Nursing Officer in a reputable health facility
