Computer Lab Technician
Job Description:
We are looking for a proactive and technically proficient Computer Lab Technician to contribute to the optimal functioning of our computer labs. As a key member of our technical support team, the successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the lab environment, providing technical assistance, and ensuring a seamless computing experience for students, faculty, and staff.
Responsibilities:
Lab Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect and maintain computer hardware, ensuring all systems are in optimal working condition.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and replacements as needed.
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies to suggest and implement upgrades for enhanced lab performance.
Technical Support:
- Respond promptly to technical issues reported by lab users, troubleshoot problems, and offer effective solutions.
- Collaborate with other IT professionals to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Provide after-hours support during peak usage times or special events.
Equipment Setup:
- Install, configure, and deploy computer systems, servers, and peripherals according to established protocols.
- Conduct routine checks to ensure all lab equipment is up-to-date with software patches and updates.
Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, escalating problems when necessary.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking and resolving technical support tickets.
Security Measures:
- Implement and monitor security measures, including antivirus software and firewalls, to safeguard lab systems and data.
- Conduct regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and propose solutions.
User Training:
- Conduct training sessions for lab users on the proper use of hardware, software applications, and adherence to lab policies.
- Develop instructional materials and guides to assist users in maximizing the lab resources.
Inventory Management:
- Keep an accurate inventory of lab equipment, software licenses, and peripherals.
- Generate regular reports on inventory status and make recommendations for procurement or retirement.
Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for lab procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
- Ensure documentation is accessible to lab users and IT staff.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with IT staff, academic faculty, and administrators to understand and address the evolving technology needs of the institution.
- Participate in planning and implementing technology-related projects.
Lab Upgrades:
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in technology.
- Recommend and implement upgrades to the lab infrastructure to enhance efficiency and user experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Computer Lab Technician or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and measures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Prior experience in an educational setting is a plus.
Admissions Officer
Job Description:
We are looking for a proactive Admissions Officer. He will assist with the end-to-end admissions process for applications, from first contact to enrolment. He will be the initial point of contact for applicants, which will include supporting prospective students in making their application through participation in events, presentations and personal telephone, email and web chat support. You will work closely with other members of the admissions team and with academic colleagues to ensure an efficient and fair application process for all applicants.
Responsibilities:
- To administer the processing of all student applications ensuring that data is effectively inputted, checked and maintained securely and that service standards are met in line with the University’s Admissions Policy.
- Deliver excellent customer service at all times being the first point of contact for applicant enquiries, providing essential information and supporting students in making appropriate choices.
- Provide flexible support to the Schools and Marketing Teams with attendance at key events, by providing essential information and promoting the University brand
- Support the Marketing team in coordinating targeted activity to promote the University and support applicant conversion.
- Play a key role in the dissemination of admission information to ensure effective communication of the process, encourage attendance and deal with enquiries.
- Support at enrolment with the processing of student enrolments, checking information, issuing student ID, providing information and dealing with enquiries, ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Review, monitor and evaluate on a regular basis the effectiveness of the Admissions delivery.
- Maintain a database of student information, telephone logs and student feedbacks in order to generate student reports for management whenever required
- Analyze the applications of prospective students based on standard admission policies.
- Interview students to understand their objectives and background.
- Provide clarifications to student’s queries in a professional manner.
- Follow-up with students for any enquiries through phone calls and emails.
- Advice students about the programs offered, admission procedure, eligibility and costs involved.
- Provide assistance to the students to complete the application forms.
- Review all the students’ applications and refer the students to financial services personnel if required.
- Participate in all events, open houses, school fairs, information sessions, exhibitions, school visits and off-campus events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience.
- University experience an added advantage.
