Academic Affairs/University Counselor

JOB PURPOSE

To be responsible for offering counseling services to support and guide students.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years professional counseling experience preferably in an educational institution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To offer both one-on-one and group
  • Develop counselling programs to assist in career and academic development
  • Schedule clients consultations
  • Maintaining records and writing reports
  • Assist students process their problems and to plan goals & actions
  • Facilitate drug and alcohol prevention programs
  • Organize peer counselling program
  • Carry out continuing personal and professional development to keep your knowledge and skills up to date
  • Contribute in identifying behavioral and emotional patterns that may affect student’s mental health.
  • Prepare summary of the student counselled during the
  • Liaise with departmental HODs to improve learning
  • Implementation of counselling ethics and Policy, Procedures and guidelines
  • Evaluating students’ abilities and interests through assessments, tools
  • Identifying issues that affect school performance, such as poor classroom attendance
  • Appreciate diverse, cultural and societal differences in dealing with
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the counseling initiatives in accordance with policies set out by the University

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Diploma Certificate degree in counseling psychology.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling or a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the Social Sciences with a Post-Graduate Diploma in counseling from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
  • Certificate in counseling supervision
  • Certificate in training of trainers (Counselors)
  • Certificate in Trauma counseling and debriefing
  • Member of a relevant professional body in Kenya

Driver

QUALIFICATION:

  • Must have a valid smart Public Service Vehicle Drivers’ License
  • Minimum Form Four Certificate.
  • Certificate of good conduct  
  • Certification of driving by a professional body (AA of Kenya etc.)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislations
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and processes
  • First Aid Skills from a recognized body
  • Communication skills and a team player
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work odd hours and days
  • Available to travel anywhere at any time

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide transportation services as needed to move persons and goods within and without the University.
  • Ensure that motor vehicles are well maintained and that they have all the required documentation and papers, and accessories.
  • Drive vehicles to transport materials and other correspondences to and from specified destinations, as designated by the immediate supervisor.
  • Drive university bus/van and other official cars to pick or deliver University staff to or from different destinations as required.
  • Maintain records of compliance with traffic regulations, such as vehicle logs, vehicle inspection, or records of cargo, in accordance with regulations of the University.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.
  • Provide custody to University vehicles and their load while outside of the University.
  • Report any motor vehicles mechanical problems and other faults to the immediate supervisor and forward them for repairs and maintenance by the authorized agents/supplier of the University.
  • Perform minor repairs on University vehicles, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs.
  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to the supervisor for the appropriate action within and without the University.
  • Ensure safety of passengers/goods in the vehicle and other university goods/property in possession
  • Collect and deliver material to required destinations and as per approved procedures.
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Electrician

QUALIFICATION:

  • KCSE mean grade D+ or its equivalent
  • Government Trade Test III
  • At least two years working experience
  • Must be a person of high morals, integrity, initiative, team player, self-motivated
  • Should have good communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertake all electrical related issues
  • Testing and inspection of electrical appliances
  • Electrical faulty diagnosis and repair
  • Coordination of public address system during events
  • Maintain the equipment’s in electrical department
  • Maintain a schedule of routine faulty finding mission
  • Have a regular schedule for general electrical repair
  • Set up and maintain working procedures
  • Report any defect within the area of work to the supervisor
  • Any other duty assigned by the supervisor
