Head of Kenya Operations
As Head of Kenya operations, you will:
- Lead the deployment and operations of our DAC technology in Kenya.
- Oversee the permitting of the site, installation, commissioning, and testing of DAC machines.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate terms with contractors and suppliers.
- Organize and lead community engagement efforts to foster positive relationships and support for the project.
- Hire, train, and mentor local staff to build a strong, capable team.
- Work with your team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Ensure the facility operates efficiently and meets performance targets.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility performance.
- Monitor and report on project progress and operational metrics.
- Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including government entities, local communities, suppliers, and contractors.
- Manage the local engineering team and coordinate closely with the Belgium headquarters to ensure alignment and support.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations and standards at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field).
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial operations or project management.
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and strong doer mentality
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
- Smart but humble, with a bias for action.
- Willingness to travel Europe from time to time.
Nice to haves
- Experience starting a large industrial project such as a power plant and seeing it to completion.
- Experience operating a large industrial project.
- Experience in project finance.
- Familiarity with DAC technology or other environmental technologies.
- Knowledge of local regulations and practices in Kenya.
DAC Engineer
As an DAC Engineer at our Kenya site, you will:
- Assist with the deployment, installation, and commissioning of our DAC machines on site.
- Operate and monitor the machines to ensure they run efficiently and meet performance targets.
- Troubleshoot and find creative solutions to technical issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team in Belgium to communicate operational feedback and provide insights for design improvements.
- Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment as needed.
- Document operational learnings, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Support the development and implementation of operational procedures and safety protocols.
- Proactively identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to training and knowledge sharing with team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical or operational role within an industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with remote teams.
- Eager to learn, adapt, and grow in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to Belgium to work with the team
Process Simulation Engineer
As a process engineer, you will:
- Use process modeling software to simulate, develop and refine our process model including the different components of the machine; using advanced thermodynamic and chemical expertise.
- Perform tests on the machine to calibrate and validate the model with real data.
- Investigate the set of operating conditions and identify a stable operating mode
- Collaborate with the R&D team to facilitate decisions on the operating point trade offs
- Collaborate with the R&D team to provide clear component specifications, ensuring compatibility with process model.
- Contribute to the scale-up process of prototypes, ensuring that designs are feasible for industrial production.
- Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders, aiding in decision-making processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on process engineering
- At least 3 years of experience in relevant field
- Proficient in process software (e.g., gProms, Aspen Adsorption, Simulink, ChemCAD, GSPro)
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for model development and analysis
- Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamic, chemistry kinetics & fundamentals of adsorption/desorption
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills

Project Finance lead
As Project Finance lead, you will spearhead the setup and funding of our first capture facility, its scale-up, and future projects:
- Structure and manage the financial and legal setup of the assetco.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and across different technical teams.
- Structure the financing of the assetco and support its fundraising.
- Work with local partners and project developers to ensure smooth and timely execution
- Contribute to other business activities, such as developing and implementing the supply chain strategy, commercial strategy, non-dilutive funding strategy and topco equity fundraising efforts.
- Optimize financial management for R&D activities, including securing non-dilutive funds.

What we expect from you
