Principal Accountabilities (Responsibilities)
- Ensure aircraft spares and tools are warehoused and handled in accordance with airworthiness and company quality standards and are issued to support schedule requirements of Kenya Airways and other operators.
- Regulate access into stockroom in accordance with Maintenance Organization Exposition procedures to ensure integrity and security of warehoused spares.
- Inventory Management – The Supplies Coordinator oversees the inventory within the warehouse, tracking stock levels, conducting regular audits, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. They use inventory management software (OASES) to ensure visibility both for traceability and costing purposes. OR any future systems to monitor quantities, identify discrepancies, with a goal of maintaining 98% ≥ stock accuracy.
- Ordering and Replenishment – They are responsible for placing orders for supplies, equipment, and materials needed for warehouse operations. This involves monitoring inventory levels, anticipating future needs, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
- Receiving and Inspection – Upon receipt of incoming shipments, the Supplies Coordinator oversees the receiving process, verifying quantities, inspecting for damage or defects, and documenting received items. They ensure that received goods match purchase orders and meet quality and regulatory standards.
- Storage and Organization -They oversee the storage and organization of aircraft materials within the warehouse, ensuring efficient use of space and easy accessibility. This includes implementing appropriate shelving, labelling systems, and storage protocols to streamline operations.
- Distribution and Allocation – The Supplies Coordinator coordinates the distribution of aircraft materials to various users or warehouses within the business, based on demand and production schedules. Material Costs Controller – Components Repair
Brief Description
The candidate will be tracking ALL components on repair, to ensure timely return of ALL units on repair and to eliminate component loss, in liaison with Supply Chain team. This role will include regular monitoring of ALL orders raised by procurement team, tracking same and ensure there are no lost components, average repair TAT of 45 days thus avoid unnecessary expenditure and financial loss thereof by the business. - The Material Costs Controller actively seeks opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance cost-effectiveness in the component repair process. They participate in cross-functional teams, process improvement initiatives, and training programs to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Liaise with material planning to continuously implement the aircraft materials provisioning policy to ensure timely delivery of aircraft parts for Kenya Airways.
- Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives for Inventory Management.
Safety and Training
- Ensure a health and safety culture is embraced within the working environment.
- Ensure Compliance with Material Management Procedures.
- They ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and contractual agreements governing component repair operations. This includes adherence to safety regulations, environmental requirements, and legal obligations related to sourcing and disposal of materials.
Job Requirements
Qualification (Minimum)
- University degree in Engineering or Procurement/Supply Chain Management with 5 years’ experience with 3 years’ experience in material management.
- Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills.
- Experience of working in a material cost control role and supervising the smooth supply of materials in line with maintenance requirements and budget, ideally within aviation or manufacturing.
- Experience in contract management and knowledge of inventory management.
- Aircrafts systems or Familiarization course.
- Advanced understanding of materials management data and systems.
- Knowledge of aircraft components/parts.
- Ability to read, understand & interpret approved maintenance documentation e.g. IPC, RSPL, AMM, SBs etc.
- Knowledge of lean techniques.
- Knowledge of aircraft parts airworthiness certification (EASA, FAA) KCAA and customs regulations relevant to aircraft parts desirable good understanding of IAT resolutions and industry rules.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body.
- 5 years’ experience in Material Management.
