Compliance Officer – VEG
Job objective
As the Compliance Officer, you will ensure that all the farm technical documents such as harvesting records, spray records, fertigation/irrigation records, pests and diseases records, scouting records, weather records, post-harvest records, chemical handlers medical and cholinesterase tests records are up to date, well-kept and are always accessible.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- To ensure that the management is well informed of all technical aspects of the farm.
- To ensure that plant Protection Products are used at the recommended rates to ensure proper pests and diseases control and to avoid development of resistance by pests and diseases.
- To ensure that chemicals with different modes of action are used and alternated accordingly against pests and diseases as a crop protection management strategy.
- To ensure that all employees are trained in all technical aspects such as the use of cleaning detergents and cleaning of harvesting equipment.
- To ensure that the farm meets and passes all audit standards such as ETI, Global Gap, M&S F2F, WFA, KEPHIS/HCD farm audits and any other audit which may be requested by the customers.
- To ensure that all monitoring systems for notifiable pests such as Leaf miner, False codling Moth (FCM), Helicoverpa armigera, Fall Army worm (FAW), etc. are always in place and properly located,
- To ensure collection of data on the traps of the notifiable pests, analysis and advising the management of the situation. This requires raising of alarms to forestall a situation where product may be rejected/destroyed by the relevant Government agencies, such as KEPHIS and by equivalent bodies of the importing countries.
- To ensure that the farm uses only approved Plant Protection Products (PPPs) by PCBP and products which meet the customer requirements.
- To ensure that the farm is kept clean in terms of hygiene requirements and standards by strictly following the guidelines of the hygiene manual.
- To ensure that you participate and walk through the farm during the weekly hygiene audits and achieve the required scores.
- To ensure regular measurements of the PH of the spray solution to ensure that it is within PH 5.5 – 6.0
- To attend HACCP meetings and ensure all areas of improvement highlighted in the report concerning veg field are addressed in a timely manner.
Your profile
- Certificate/ Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/ Horticlture.
- 3 and above years of work experience in a similar role.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Team player who creates top-down working relationship with general workers and management
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- High moral standing with impeccable integrity.
- Proficient Computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly with Excel.

Plant Operator
Job objective
AAA Growers – Pure Harvest is a division within our AAA Group that deals with avocadoes for exports. We produce a variety of avocados known as Hass avocado. The growing started in 2018 in Simba Farm as a small scale and continued to grow. Demand by our clients led to addition of the production volume that AAA exports and this has created a need for us to expand our orchard to be able to cater for the large volume of orders coming in.
As the Plant Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring that the system at the packhouse is running and maintained properly ensuring the basic safety checks are in place. You will also oversee the machine operation and perform general machine housekeeping and maintenance.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the machine operation and to ensure the machine is kept up to the best standard possible in terms of GMP and general maintenance.
- Ensure plant adheres to safety and environmental rules.
- Ensuring provided PPE is maintained and used as prescribed.
- Control further processing of products until conditions likely to cause non-conformities are addressed.
- Calibrating the machine to ensure required productivity levels and adherence to quality measures and standards are met.
- Manage weekly and monthly production schedules, maintenance reports and daily production reports.
- Coordinate with the maintenance manager on repair and servicing of production equipment to ensure prudent operations and maintain an updated Planned Preventative maintenance schedule for the unit. Ensure the businesses maintenance SOP is adhered to at all times.
- Reporting defective machines and/or parts to the production in charge/manager and ensure full hygiene handover is completed after any maintenance activity.
- Ensuring ripening SOP is followed to the latter.
- Communicate to immediate manager in-case of any deviations on ripening process.
- Ensuring a timely communication on each ripening process. Follow agreed format on communication.
- Ensure raw material with correct quality attributes for ripening is used i.e., correct dry matter content, correct size profile etc. in liaison with the QA manager.
- Ensure stocks for ripening consumables e.g., ethylene is adequate. Observe a re-order level for the consumables.
- Liaise with maintenance manager to ensure scheduled maintenance plan for the ripening chambers is followed.
- Maintain and updated ripening unit Planned Preventative maintenance data.
Your profile
- Degree in Mechatronic engineering/ electrical/ electronic engineering.
- Over 2 years of direct hands-on experience in a fruit/veg sorting machine.
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- High moral standing with impeccable integrity.
- Proficient Computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly with Excel.
- Report writing skills.
- Excellent Leadership skills and management skills
- Analytical mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and team player facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

Intake Manager

Demand by our clients led to addition of the production volume that AAA exports and this has created a need for us to expand our orchard to be able to cater for the large volume of orders coming in. Our avocadoes are grown in the open field sitting on 100 with further expansion coming in..
As the Intake Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the avocadoes are of good quality, QC assessed in the right sizes and of the right quantity. Also, you will ensure raw material utilization is always done correctly, keeping vigilance on the traceability of all the products from preparation to dispatch and the mass balance and traceability.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Contact person for all correspondence from the intake area to the head office and other factory sites.
- Get involved in daily production planning, factoring in daily raw material predictions, opening stocks and projections.
- Maintaining a high level of hygiene within and around the intake area due to potential contamination at the intake areas.
- Planning of staff working in the intake area and making sure the intake team have access to necessary procedures, records and documents including raw material specifications.
- Attending and contributing to meetings with all staff as scheduled at appropriate intervals to communicate new specifications, changes to specifications and use of equipment to ensure high levels understanding in this critical area.
- Liasing with the farm production managers and the pack house manager to ensure correct volumes of quality product entering the pack house for processing, packing and inter-farm transfer.
- Maintain raw material traceability all through by ensuring proper tagging for every batch.
- Maintain FIFO system for all materials release from the cold room to production or dispatch as guided by stock rotation procedures.
- Managing all equipment and tools within the intake area to ensure optimal performance through scheduled maintenance, training of operators, verification checks and safe storage when not in use.
- Assisting in measuring the performance of the staff within this area based on appraisals and giving this information through departmental heads for review.
- Any other duty as administered to by the immediate supervisor or senior manager.
Your profile
- Diploma/degree in Horticulture or any Agricultural related field.
- 5 to 8 years of direct hands-on experience in a farm of the same capacity.
- Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- High moral standing with impeccable integrity.
- Proficient Computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly with Excel.
