Lecturer – School of Dentistry Scale 12 (XII) – 2 Post 

Duties and Responsibilities

An individual appointed as a Lecturer shall:

  • teach and assess courses in one’s discipline at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • supervise undergraduate students’ projects and other experiential learning programmes;
  • supervise dissertations/theses at postgraduate level; |
  • participate in the development/ review of undergraduate and postgraduate courses;
  • initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
  • provide professional and community services, and initiate strategic training and research
  • partnerships and linkages, and undertake fundraising for the University; and
  • carry out administrative and such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

For appointment to this position, a candidate must:-

  • have a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) from an accredited/ recognized academic institution;

OR

  • MMed or MDS, and Specialist training;
  • have a minimum of twelve (12) research publication output points from refereed scholarly journals and two (2) points {rom publications in conference proceedings,

OR

  • have a minimum of thirty two (32) publication points if the applicant is from a research institution,

OR

  • have a minimum of six (6) publication points if the applicant is from practice/industry,
  • show evidence of evaluated effective teaching and / or research;
  • show evidence of recognition and registration by the relevant regulatory body where applicable; and
  • show evidence of membership or affiliation of the relevant professional body where applicable.

Farm Manager Scale 12 (XII) – 1 Post

  • The Farm Manager will be responsible to the Registrar (Administration, Planning & Strategy).

Duties and Responsibilities
The Farm Manager will be responsible for:-

  • administration of the farm functions;
  • managing and maintaining farm assets and finances;
  • ensuring security and safety of assets and personnel in the farm;
  • preparing monthly and yearly farm work plans, budgets and reports;
  • ensuring procurement of all the farm requirements in liaison with Procurement unit;
  • planning and implementing production targets of each farm enterprise;
  • ensuring that all the quality standards are maintained in the farm;
  • plan for Corporate Social Responsibly (CSR) activities for the Department;
  • marketing and selling farm produce;
  • implementing short- term agricultural training and outreach activities;
  • implementing the decisions of the farm committee and/or University Management:
  • ensuring that the farm units are economically viable; and
  • initiate formulation/review and implementation of farm policies and strategies.

Requirements for Direct Appointment

For appointment to this position, a candidate must:

  • have Master’s degree in Animal Science or Agriculture or Horticulture or Agricultural Engineering or related field from a recognized university;
  • be registered with a relevant professional body;
  • have at least ten (10) years’ experience in managing a busy mixed farm enterprise;
  • have technical and practical competence in crop and livestock management;
  • be innovative and have strong budgeting, leadership, teamwork and supervisory skills;
  • have good understanding of the Public Procurement System and Government regulations related to farm activities; and
  • have demonstrable Information Communication Technology skills (attach evidence).

Requirements for Serving Officers

For appointment to this position, an officer must:

  • have Master’s degree in Animal Science or Agriculture or Horticulture or Agricultural Engineering or related field from a recognized university;
  • be registered with a relevant professional body;
  • have served as Assistant Farm Manager, Grade 9/10 for a period of at least three (3) years; 
  • have shown merit and ability in performance and results;
  • have technical and practical competence in crop and livestock management;
  • be innovative and have strong budgeting, leadership, teamwork and supervisory skills;
  • have good understanding of the Public Procurement System and Government regulations related to farm sottvitiem and
  • have demonstrable Information Communication Technology skills (attach evidence).

Assistant Farm Manager (Crop – Fruit Farming) Scale 7/8 (VII/VIII) – 1 Post

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level shall be responsible for:-

  • assisting the Farm Manager on day to day operations of the University Farm;
  • ensuring production targets of each farm units are achieved;
  • supervising staff and keeping attendance records;
  • supervising students on attachment;
  • field patrols/ scouting on regular basis and making reports;
  • collecting soil samples from the fields as directed by the Farm Manager;
  • record keeping of farm inputs and outputs;
  • safeguarding farm inputs and outputs; and
  • performing any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements for Direct Appointment

To be appointed to this grade, a candidate must:

  • have Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or any other related field;
  • provide evidence of Computer skills in relevant field from a recognized institution; and
  • have four (4) years relevant working experience.

Requirements for Serving Officers

To be appointed to this grade, an officer must:

  • have Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture or any other related field;
  • provide evidence of Computer skills in relevant field from a recognized institution;
  • have served as Farm Assistant, Grade 5/6 for at least three (3) years; and
