Regional Partnership Advisor (Strategy and Implementation) – Re-advertisement
The Role
- As the Regional Partnership Advisor (Strategy and Implementation), you will work within the Kenya Country Office. 25% of your time will be allocated to working with and supporting other Country Offices (COs) in the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Africa region (MEESA). You will focus on creating a consistent approach to how we work with partners but also working on strategy level and reporting on the goals set out in the new global strategy that refer to partnership engagement.
- This role primarily focuses on developing partnership strategy at the Country Office level and supporting the region in enhancing the quality of partnership management processes and practices. You will work closely with colleagues at Regional Hub levels to embed good practices on partnering within Plan’s operational processes, responding to organisational learning and demand, and connecting closely with the global partnerships team and projects and funds team to ensure strong technical alignment and feedback processes are integrated into daily work.
- You will also be providing technical support to Kenya Office primarily while extending support to countries within the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Africa region aiming to support them to develop good partnership operational management practices which enable Plan International and our partners to work on more equal terms, and with strong mutual oversight in our work together. It involves a mixture of providing technical advice and guidance, developing and facilitating training and materials for colleagues and partners, supporting organisational learning through formal and informal processes, and providing direct, demand driven coaching and mentoring to country offices in order to strengthen organisational partnering practices, systems and processes.

What you will bring
- Master’s degree in Development Studies, Business development, International relations, social sciences or another related field;
- At least 10 years (of which at least 3 in Africa region) of progressively responsible of supporting country programmes and partnerships in different operating contexts within the humanitarian sector.
- At least 3 Years in a leadership/managerial role
- Excellent spoken and written English and excellent interpersonal communication skills. In depth knowledge on the concept of and trends in civil society strengthening and effective partnership building in development and humanitarian context
- Understanding the nature and approaches of key movements, actors and institutions relevant to Plan’s ambitions and activities
- Understanding and deploying participatory approaches which strengthen civil society, including with children and young people
- Experience of developing partnership strategies (including approaches to localisation), and designing partnership systems and tool
- Experience of networking with humanitarian and development actors and robust knowledge of humanitarian architecture, coordination mechanisms and sector trends
- Demonstrated success in building consensus among diverse stakeholders and working with virtual teams.
- Ability to critically analyse data and evidence to innovate, deliver, learn and share what works and what doesn’t work for children and youth, partnerships and civil society strengthening
- Training, facilitation and capacity building experience for staff capacity strengthening and partner organisational development
- A sound understanding of power and privilege, gender equality and inclusion, and working with a rights-based perspective

National Organisation Financial Controller
The Opportunity
- We are currently seeking a National Organisation Financial Controller to join our global finance team. As the Financial Controller you will play a key role in ensuring the financial reporting data from our National Organisations (NOs) is accurate and timely, and will play a role in strengthening the current data collection and analysis process, document monthly data flows from all NO’s (20 in total), build permanent files for each NO and create desk-top procedures for continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be the key contact for all National Organisations regarding their financial submissions, ensuring that all data is accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Main responsibilities include:
- Ensures NO submissions are timely, based on the GH-issued reporting timetable, and meet required quality standards
- Understands each NO’s local GAAP and the principal adjustments required to convert local GAAP reporting to IFRS
- Builds a strong relationship with NO Finance teams, such that unusual or significant transactions are identified on a timely basis, with sufficient time to resolve any accounting issues under IFRS
- Reviews IFRS adjustments proposed by NOs and supports NOs to prepare their reconciliations between local GAAP and IFRS as needed,
- Ensures the accuracy, completeness and consistent input of NOs fund monthly usage by donor source regarding income and expenses
About you:
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA)
- Strong and proven accounting ability with knowledge of corporate accounting under US GAAP and IFRS.
- Ability to create appropriate financial reports to investigate trends and variances
- Experience in group reporting, including consolidations, in a group finance function within medium to large-sized, complex multi-currency organization
- Strong knowledge of and experience in applying financial accounting controls.
- Knowledge and awareness of best practice financial policies and procedures.
- ERP systems experience, preferably SAP BPC
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to work calmly under pressure, prioritize and work to tight deadlines.
