Credit Portfolio Lead

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Credit Tribe Lead, the Credit Portfolio Lead will be responsible for driving sustainable credit products by developing platform features, processes, tools and credit score strategies that ensures effective management of credit risk across different stages of product maturity cycles and provides relevant insights through continuous portfolio monitoring that optimizes product performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Insights, Research and Analysis

  • Inform evolution of credit risk management capabilities (scorecards, features and platforms) aligned with the Tribes’ vision and evolution path. 
  • Leverage on technology to create credit risk modules that furthers evolution of credit as a service (CaaS). 
  • Thought leader in credit risk and risk management solution, features and planforms aligned to global trends and expected operating environments. 
  • Mastery of customer behavior and appropriate solutions and tools for organizational/industry transformation. 

Product Planning and Management

  • Formulate analytical techniques to be adopted for effective risk management within the Tribe in collaboration with the big data teams. 
  • Advise on credit risk assumption and portfolio strategy review within the company informed by product, solutions and platform performances.
  • Expert in advanced analytics that leverages on advanced analytical techniques & big data to transform credit risk & PMP. 
  • Recognized industry leader in influencing credit risk management evolution.

Customer and End-User Support

  • Proficiency use of analytical tools (SQL, Qlik, Power BI) to provide detailed insights in risk management. 
  • Support and execute decision based on product risk trends.
  • Conduct complex analytical tasks and initiatives that inform credit and product decisions within the tribes.
  • Advise on credit risk assumption and portfolio strategy review within the tribe informed by product, solutions and platform performances.
  • Ability to identify and map various risk and PMP strategies to product life cycle to address expected product challenges. 
  • Identifies opportunities in product optimization across product maturity path, with practical suggestions on how to realize value.
  • Ability to influence adoption of the credit tools and solutions by credit partner for the accomplishment of common objectives.

Post Launch governance 

  • Track and analyze metrics compared to industry benchmarks, publish reports on product performance, trends, and risks/opportunities for both short and long term.
  • Support teams that track and manage business case metrics and financial planning models ensuring that product delivery stays on track and on budget.

Key performance indicators

  • Adherence to set Credit Tribe business OKRs and commitments.
  • Ability to influence adoption of the credit tools and solutions by credit partner for the accomplishment of common objectives.
  • Driving achievement of Mission budget for products in Credit Tribe
  • Growth and retention of customers via use of tools and data.
  • Provide guidelines and process for the implementation of reward and recognition activities. 
  • Delivery of relevant target projects/Initiatives. 
  • Compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies and procedures. KPIs could include regulatory compliance metrics, audit results, and risk management metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least six (6) years’ knowledge and experience in a relevant field with at least three (3) in credit risk and portfolio strategy for digital credit across different spectrums of product and product strategy life cycles with at least seven years’ experience.
  • Ability to scope new risk management techniques, improvement of processes and workflow by applying in-depth disciplinary knowledge, integrating subject matter and industry expertise aligned with the credit best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Relevant Business or IT Undergraduate Degree or relevant field along with professional qualifications, or equivalent qualification(s) from a recognized institution of higher learning. 
  • MBA or relevant Master’s degree is an added advantage. 
  • Member in good standing of a recognized professional body. 
  • Superior business understanding to drive changes that optimize product performance across different stages of product maturity.
  • Strong understanding of credit risk, portfolio and product management. 
  • Possess high professional and ethical standards.

SENIOR MANAGER GOVERNANCE, RISK AND COMPLIANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be part of the definition, development and implementation of Information Security, risk analysis, business continuity and data protection projects
  • Assess the effectiveness of security controls for a system and its operating environment
  • Attend meetings and workshops as required to provide security advice and guidance to stakeholders and customers
  • Support both internal and external audits
  • Assists with the evaluation of the effectiveness of the information security program by developing, monitoring, gathering, and analyzing
  • information security and compliance metrics for management.
  • Demonstrate compliance through regular user access reviews and attestation.
  • Supports workforce security activities including culture, awareness, and training to help stakeholders understand the importance of cybersecurity and teach them how to identify potential threats and respond appropriately
  • Spearhead delivery of Cyber Security Baseline across the organisation
  • Promote widespread implementation of ISO 27001 standards
  • Maintain and monitor a central repository for audit evidence
  • Performs third-party supplier risk assessments to ensure supply chain risk is managed throughout the supplier’s lifecycle. Assesses and reports on the risks and benefits for the business as well as mandates for supplier compliance.

  • Researches, recommends, and contributes to information security polices, standards, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Information Technology
  • Hands-on Ethical hacking Competencies. Possession of at least one ethical hacking certification will be an added advantage [CEH/CISSP/CISM/CISA/OSCP]
  • 5+ years of direct experience in information security, with a main emphasis on risk, audit, and compliance
  • 3+ years of expertise conducting ISO 27001 and SOC 2 audits, as well as handling audit responses
  • Thorough understanding of market structures, including relevant regulatory compliance requirements (ISO27001, SOC 2 , NIST, CMMC, PCI, GDPR, etc.)

Safaricom Internship Program

About The Internship Program

The program will be categorized into two,

  1. 3 months Industrial attachment for ongoing students. 
  2. 6 months Internship for students who have completed school & awaiting graduation or having graduated within the last 12 months. The 6 months program will have 2 intakes – April & October 2024. 

Call for applications will only happen once in the financial year allowing you to plan which intake you are available for. 

The Program gives you the opportunity to gain first-hand experience working on real-world problems, hone your skills, create lasting relationships, gain insights, and discover your strengths. Throughout the program, you’ll acquire the skills for immediate success, as well as understand what’s required for the future as our industry and your career evolve. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Eligibility Criteria

We are looking for University students or recent graduates who meet the criteria indicated below:

  • You must be in your final or second last year of your degree program or having graduated with the last 12 months in an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • You must be on break from school during the internship period for any of the intakes within the year. For ongoing students, priority will be given to students with industrial attachment as a requirement to completion of the degree program. 
  • Must be available for the full period of the internship program (Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm)
  • You can only select 1 intake in the year for which you will be available for the internship.
  • The internship is for a fixed period of 3 or 6 months without extension.
