Internal Auditor
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Chief Internal Auditor the Internal Auditor is responsible for performing individual internal audit projects, as part of the total internal audit plan. This responsibility includes developing internal audit scope, performing internal audit procedures, and preparing internal audit reports reflecting the results of the work performed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Chief Internal Auditor in risk assessment and annual audit planning.
- Assist in expeditiously executing the approved audit plan activities, as assigned by the Chief Internal Auditor and preparing reports to highlight areas for improvement on internal controls.
- Assist in assessing the university’s information security practices and recommend as appropriate, enhancements to, or implementation of, new controls and safeguards.
- Conduct periodic audits of computer systems and make post-installation evaluations of data processing systems.
- Assist in implementing appropriate follow up mechanisms to ensure that agreed audit recommendations are implemented by management.
- Assist the Chief Internal Auditor in managing the day to day administration of the audit function in the university, preparation of departmental budgets and in the improvement of departmental processes.
Educational, professional qualifications and industrial Experience
- Upper Second Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration or Information Technology.
- CPA (K) or CISA or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
- Proficiency in computer applications;
- At least 5 years of audit work experience with at least 3 years in a similar position (internal or external audit role).
- Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Security Officer
Job Purpose:
Responsible for Closed circuit television and recording devices operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence during investigations through exhibits and video footage during disciplinary cases /hearing at the university.
- Advising management where necessary (through the Head of Security and on a wide range of security-related events, specific to the organization and its various operations which impact on the safety of university personnel/property.
- Performs security awareness briefs, training and orientation to all new staff/personnel and or students to conform to the university internal security needs as assigned by the supervisor.
- Performs supervisory and shift duties under the Head of Department.
- Carry out investigation of security-related incidents involving USIU personnel, project personnel or visitors.
- Together with manager security, ensure that the security-monitoring centre is operational at all times.
- Perform any other duties as directed from time to time.
Educational, professional qualifications and industrial Experience
- Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or any social science (OR a diploma in lieu of the above in a security-related discipline or social science) from an accredited university.
- K.C.S.E grade C+ (plus) or equivalent.
- Have served for a period of five (5) years in the disciplined forces or held a supervisory role in (a) recognized security firm(s).
- Those with training on CCTV have an added advantage.
