Sector Head, Business Banking – 5 Posts
JOB SUMMARY:
The overall purpose of this role is to achieve business growth for the Bank by selling products and services to SMEs within assigned market segments to enhance value-added relationships with new and existing customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy & Business Development – 60%
- To support the department in business growth in the sectors and segments allocated.
- Ensure implementation of the Business Banking strategy in line with the allotted Sector / Segment and aligned to the overall strategy of the Bank.
- Grow the sector portfolio profitability by identifying new and existing customer potential including sales opportunities and new product initiatives. The sector head shall contribute and be measured as an individual towards the achievement of 30% of the sector’s targets.
- Formulate business development strategies and objectives for the sector to meet the changing needs.
- To service existing and onboard new customers so as to grow the Bank’s Liabilities, Assets and NFI.
- To increase product usage and widen the share of wallet amongst existing customers in the portfolio assigned.
- To increase the account activity and utilization amongst existing customers in the portfolio assigned.
- To ensure continuous engagement with the branch business banking teams aimed at assisting the team achieve the sector’s set target.
- To play a key pivotal role in product development relevant to the sector assigned.
- To evaluate credit proposals and ensure the credit applications process on a timely basis with the bank’s set turnaround times.
- To effectively manage and expand the relationships with existing SME banking clients and bring in new partnerships so as to ensure business growth and continuity in the assigned sector.
- Manage the PAR and Non-Performing Loans to the acceptable bank standards.
- To work closely with risk and compliance units to ensure effective controls to mitigate against business risks associated with Business Banking.
Customer Retention – 30%
- Provide advice on potential financial solutions based on identified needs
- Understand and resolve and where necessary, escalate client queries in a timely and appropriate manner
- Analyze financial requirements of customers and match with the Bank’s product offerings
- To grow the Bank’s wallet, share in the SME banking sector within the designated portfolio / segment.
- To evaluate credit proposals and ensure the credit applications process on a timely basis with the bank’s set turnaround times.
- Develop and maintain strong working relations with all existing clients at key levels to optimize the utilization of approved facilities.
- Ensure renewal of facilities such as overdrafts are undertaken in a timely manner and no limits expire / mature.
- Ensure proper communication to clientele in respect to any changes in the Banks services or products.
- Manage account dormancy for clients is maintained at minimal levels by frequently reviewing the client accounts to ensure regular transactions depending on the nature of the client’s business.
- To ensure continuous improvement in customer service and implement effective retention of customers within Business Banking.
People Development and Leadership – 10%
- To support the branches, achieve the sector targets through providing guidance on the market dynamics, products and activities that will aide in achieving the sector’s targets.
- Motivate and build capabilities within the Business Banking team.
- Ensure development of the business banking team in understanding and acquiring the necessary skills to develop the sector’s business.

Knowledge, Competencies, Skills and Experience required for this Role
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University preferably in Business Management or any related field.
- 8 years’ experience in the banking sector with 5 years preferably in a managerial role within SME/Business Banking.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
- Strong problem analysis and decision-making skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills.
- Excellent business acumen and commercial awareness.
- Self-driven individual with passion for performance and achievement of goals in a competitive & dynamic environment.

Senior Officer, Litigation
JOB SUMMARY:
The job holder is responsible for the effective and efficient management of potential and ongoing litigations by and against the bank, the provision of sound legal advisory and the management of related legal risks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dispute Resolution & Management – 50%
- Dispute resolution, managing potential claims, managing litigation against the Bank, initiating litigation on behalf of the Bank, pursuing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, managing all dispute resolution files and coordinating with external counsel on resolutions of claims.
General Legal Advisory and Legal Risk Management – 40%
- Analyzing, identifying and advising on legal risks and implications on business.
- Ensuring that customer KYC processes and account transactional legal issues (searches on institutions, advisory on account opening KYC processes and documents, etc) have been well undertaken.
- Advising and liaising with other departments on general legal matters.
- Updating departments on major legal reforms affecting the usual banking business.
Lease Management – 10%
- Preparation, review and management of the Bank’s leases in collaboration with the Administration and Facilities Department, drafting of Leases and licenses, review of Leases and licenses, ensuring proper execution of the leases and licenses and conducting legal due diligence on lessors and licensors.

Knowledge: Skills and Experience required for this Role
Job Knowledge:
- Should have an in-depth understanding of the court process
- Should have knowledge and be able to conduct alternative dispute resolution mechanisms
- In depth knowledge of the regulatory legislations affecting financial institutions
Job Experience:
- At least one year experience in a busy commercial and litigation-oriented law firm or a financial institution.
- Proven track record of providing accurate and effective legal counsel.
- Demonstrate success in managing and conducting a variety of litigation matters
Education Qualification:
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
- 3-5 Years Post graduate Diploma from the Kenya school of Law.
- Bachelor of laws from an accredited university recognized in Kenya Should possess great IT skills.

Budgetary Responsibilities
- Ensuring there are no or minimal successful claims against the bank Management of costs emanating from stationary use, telephone expenses etc. Ensuring that legal fees raised by our Advocates are within those prescribed under the Advocates Renumeration Order.
Senior Officer, System Administration
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide professional ICT support and administration that would ensure stable operations of the bank’s IT Systems through best practices and the appropriate collaboration with technical, business and third party organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To ensure all bank systems availability to all users and ensure maximum usage and output of software to facilitate all and any of the Banks Operations
- Put security measures in place to protect bank systems
- Ensure effective enterprise data backup management
- Install and configure Software and Hardware.
- Responsible for managing, troubleshooting and proactively updating hardware and software assets to prevent downtime or zero-day exploits from occurring.
- Install, configure and upgrade Banking application and System environments whenever required
- Work with the information security office to ensure system compliance
- Constantly check on the global threats to the computer Systems and put preventive measures against any threat
- Participate in the design, setup, implementation and testing business continuity and disaster recovery installations within the bank.
- Adhere to the bank’s IT security policies, standards and procedures
- Test backup and fallback procedures for all Business Systems
- Keep an inventory of accurate and up to date Server Assets and Systems
- Install,support and administer servers, printers and the PC Networks.
- Attend to all ICT Helpdesk requests
- Report and log all Risk events and service exceptions
- Regular review of GAB users and server user profiles for all systems
- Ensure all changes are done in an approved manner
- Explore new technologies and trend related to computer systems
- Manage Service Level Agreements for both internal and external customers and suppliers
- Manage and Maintain all data centre standards, procedures, health and safety, and day to day infrastructure performance issues

- Upgrade systems with new releases and models.

- Investigates, plans, implements, tests, and debugging, patching and upgrading base operating systems software & firmware.
- Monitor & report performance of replication services between DC and DR sites. DR maintenance. Manage the configuration and operation of DC and DR servers.
- Analysis and assessment of business needs and requirements versus system support
- Support system upgrades and apply fixes/patches related to infra unit.
- Assist in delivering system solutions and implement projects to meet business, operation and compliance objectives.
- Follow-up audit findings, propose remediation and ensure rectification or mitigation be carried out successfully.
- Prepares written materials (e.g. procedures, system level documentation, SOPs, reports, memos, letters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Perform change management risk reviews and post implementation reviews for all change requests.

Education, Knowledge, skills and Experience required for this Role
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT related field, however, a Master’s degree in IT would be an added advantage
- Preferred Certifications required for this role:
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer (MCSE)
- Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
- VMware Certified Professional 6 & above – Data Center Virtualization
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role
- Experience with databases (MSSQL and Oracle), networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
- Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery
- Experience with various operating systems and platforms
- Experience with various storage (SAN) platforms
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role
- Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
