Senior Grants Manager

About the role:

The Senior Grants Manager is the focal point for proposal development, reporting, grants information management, compliance, and grants management capacity-building efforts. The Senior Grants Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders in various departments and will report to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Grants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Pre-award responsibilities: 

  • Researching and developing a grants portfolio, including solicited and unsolicited opportunities. 
  • Managing the full grant cycle, including solicitation, proposal writing, implementation, monitoring, compliance, reporting, and close-out. 
  • Managing all aspects of the proposal development process – incl. the development of the technical narrative, M&E, development of budgets and budget narratives, required annexes, etc.  
  • Directly manages timelines and the overall progression of work undertaken by internal teams to ensure the on-time completion and submission of high-quality application packages.  
  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders. 

 Leads the post-award grants management of a diverse portfolio of projects: 

  • Ensures timely completion of milestones and maintains complete project documentation for a wide range of grants simultaneously. 
  • Spearhead external stakeholder grant meetings to identify and help resolve needs, and constraints, and ensure successful delivery. 
  • Keep the supervisor informed of any projected inability to meet contractual obligations. Be able to actively mitigate risks through proactively proposing remedial solutions. 
  • Manages the close-out process for projects, ensures required documents are developed, and manages the overall close-out timeline. 
  • Provides overall capacity building, training, and supervision of grant writers.  

Skills and Experience

  • At least eight (8) years of grant writing and grant management experience. 
  • Demonstrated project management experience related to implementing and managing complex projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated capacity to think strategically, to lead and work within diverse teams, to work in multi-cultural settings and with a high degree of independence.
  • Demonstrated track record of winning solicited and unsolicited grants, from a diverse range of organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.

Key Account & Business Development Director

About the Role

BURN is hiring for a Key Account & Business Development Director. The individual will act as the face of BURN and the key point of contact to a wide range of strategic partners, including development agencies, carbon project developers, and BURN’s distribution partners.

You will work in close cooperation with BURN’s Commercial team in Nairobi, Kenya to maximize BURN’s success in winning long-lead-time deals with strategic global partners, resulting in hundreds of thousands of stove sales.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • P&L Responsibility: Maintain a yearly business plan that includes budgeting, P&L, and sales operations programs for improving the profitability of the company.
  • New Business Development: Identify and develop new partnerships that align with BURN’s company strategy. Present and pitch to external parties. When required, represent BURN at conferences and events in Kenya and abroad.
  • Strategic Projects/Initiatives: Assist the Commercial team in the planning, implementation, and tracking of strategic projects and initiatives across several geographical markets.
  • Collaboration: Act as a go-between with BURN’s senior management, commercial, carbon, and special project/grants teams.

Skills and Experience

  • 5 years of Senior-level sales experience
  • University Degree in Business Management, Development Studies, or related fields. An MBA is a plus.
  • Proven B2B sales, route-to-market, supply chain, and new business development experience
  • Ability to produce and present professional strategy, reports, accurate forecasts, and channel sales plans.

Senior Electric Quality Engineer

About the role

The Senior Electric Quality Engineer role focuses on collaborating with the electric design, engineering, and procurement teams to assess and select vendors, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, defining quality plans for OEM suppliers, and managing supplier quality issues.

The position requires strong skills in document control, Quality Assurance principles, interpersonal communication, organization, analytics, and leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality:

  • Work with the electric design & engineering team and procurement team on vendor evaluation and selection.
  • Review and advise on relevant regulatory and compliance requirements for electric products to the relevant local and international standards.
  • Define the quality plan, alignment and execution for OEM suppliers which includes the Control Plan, CTQ processes, reliability qualification and monitoring plan, quality reporting, traceability etc.
  • Manage and coordinate resolution of supplier quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on supplier quality-related key performance indicators including scrap monitoring, rework levels, and parts per million (PPM) figures.
  • Work with engineering and design to develop technical product specification sheets and ensure they’re well maintained.
  • Develop an Incoming Quality Control (IQC) plan and the relevant documentation.
  • Review Product Change Notices (PCN) from suppliers and coordinate approval by the relevant parties.
