Senior Project Officer-Malaria Project
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Project Officer (SPO) – Health will support the implementation of SMC activities in Turkana Central Sub-County through the Sub-County Health Team, with an overall responsibility for maintaining high quality programming. The SPO will provide oversight to a team of County, Sub-County, Health facility staff and supervisors based in their respective county of operation and liaise closely with the SMC focal point person in the County Health Team, and if applicable with the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP), Ministry of Health. This work will also be done in close collaboration with Duke University and Moi University.
The SPO – Health will provide leadership and oversight for SMC implementation activities including ensuring that all activities in the workplan are strictly followed within the specified timeframe, -the budget is adequately managed, and data is collected on a timely basis for reporting.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all program implementation activities as per the workplan and budget.
- Lead and mentor technical staff in the achievement of project objectives.
- Support the county health team with the development of an implementation project plan (or SMC implementation guide), developing data collection tools, engaging in microplanning, and developing supervision and reporting tools.
- Monitor both indicators and overall impact, and work with county health team to adjust activities and targets when indicated.
- Serve as primary contact point in the resolution of technical challenges encountered and offer high quality appropriate solutions.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of programmatic & financial reporting and monitor budgets in liaison with the finance team.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation related to project monitoring and implementation.
- Ensure grant management compliance with CRS regulations, and timely acquisition of project inputs through close collaboration with the country program procurement staff
- Provide regular updates to government and non-government coordination bodies as requested and in collaboration with CRS’ head of programs.
- Establish and maintain good working relations with County government, Duke University, Moi University and Ministry of Health.
- Represent the project in appropriate technical fora, providing high quality messaging with respect to the aims, approaches, and achievements of the project.
- Produce quality technical briefs and best practices on behalf of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nursing, Clinical medicine or a related field. A relevant master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 4 years for Bachelors’ degree holders or at least 3 years progressive experience for master’s holders in Malaria management and other health-related projects in Kenya and for an NGO.
- In-depth understanding of donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting.
- Experience in participatory action planning and engagement of stakeholders at various levels.
- Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
- Excellent understanding of GOK structures and systems and demonstrated experience managing relationships with government structures.
- Experience working with Local Implementing Partners and government key departments.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Project Officer-ECCAT Project
Job Summary:
The Project Officer will provide technical, operational and coordination oversight for the implementation of the project in the respective project location. S/he will be responsible for coordination and support the implementing partner to ensure effective and timely activity development planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting for the project. A key aspect of the position will be to facilitate integration and implementation of project components at the field level and assist with management and coordination oversight of activity implementation. The position also has a strong focus on capacity building and mentoring of partners to deliver on project objectives including monitoring and evaluation of outputs against actual outcomes.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and administration of annual work-plans, budgets, internal agreements, contracts and production of progress reports, provide technical oversight and guidance on project activities, ensuring coherence with the project’s results framework.
- In coordination with the MEAL team, develop and apply the project’s monitoring instruments and systems, document, package and disseminate case studies, best practices and lessons from the project to a wider audience for awareness, advocacy and policy influencing, as well as ensuring collection, collation, reporting, organization and keeping of all project data and documents.
- lead day to day communication with the implementing partner to ensure a high level of coordination within the project, support the building and maintenance of positive and productive relationships between the implementing partner and other relevant stakeholders, manage the production of project outputs and getting them laid out/designed appropriately for specific audiences.
- Ensure sound environmental practices/guidelines are in place, monitored and reported on
- Support business development efforts by contributing to the development of funding proposals for the project.
- Represent CRS on issues at strategic, political and technical meetings, seminars and other events and processes as may be required from time to time.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, environmental studies, natural resources management, or related disciplines.
- At least three (3) years of experience in planning and implementing project activities in sustainable natural resources management, climate change adaptation and resilience building and participatory natural resource management.
- Demonstrable project management skills including design, budgeting, procurement, implementation, monitoring, learning and reporting skills.
- Strong knowledge and experience in governance, advocacy and policy influencing of natural resources management.
- Experience working with pastoral and agro-pastoral communities on climate change related and resilience building interventions.
- Experience in partnership development and management with the private sector, community groups and government agencies

Senior Project Officer-Climate Adaptation Project
Job Summary:
The Senior Project Officer – Landscapes & Livelihoods will be responsible for technical and operational coordination of the Urejesho Rutba wa Ardhi Yetu (URAY) Project based in Isiolo County, ensuring delivery of high-quality outputs and outcomes. The project focusses on scaling the restoration of pastoral rangelands through community-managed pilots of a variety of rainwater harvesting approaches, re-seeding of rangelands and strengthening and formalizing market access and growth of the gum-arabic value chain. The Senior Project Officer will work closely with the CRS team and consortium partners implementing the NAWIRI program, as well as key private sector and government agencies in Isiolo County.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
- Manage day to day operations of the project, which include effective administration and tracking of project finances, project work plan, project monitoring and evaluation, timely preparation of reports for onward submission to the donor and effective coordination and cooperation between project partners.
- Assist in processes related to inception and start-up of activities including the project’s baseline assessment and liaising with relevant stakeholders to map and validate sites for rainwater harvesting infrastructure.
- Facilitate linkages between community groups, including those benefitting from other CRS interventions within the project area, the private sector and government agencies.
- Guide on strengthening community-based natural resources management practices within the project area and build the capacity of grazing committees and rangeland user groups on pasture seed management and fodder preservation techniques.
- Ensure sound environmental practices/guidelines are in place, monitored and reported on
- In coordination with the M&E officer, develop and apply the project’s monitoring instruments and systems.
- Document case studies, best practices, lessons learned and develop communication materials for dissemination to target audiences.

- Lead CRS’ field level workshops and similar events.
- Represent CRS on issues at strategic, political and technical meetings, seminars and other events and processes as may be required from time to time.
