IDAS Associate (French Speaking)
Purpose of Position:
KPMG IDAS wish to recruit a French Speaking Associate to provide oversight over the implementation and day‐to‐day management of the with a focus on the West Africa participants.
Key roles and responsibilities
The Associate will interact with participants as assigned. They will play an important role of managing the participants, as well as being the primary relationship holder and the point of contact. They will contribute regional/ local knowledge and technical expertise to managing aspects of the Fund’s development and management process.
In particular, the Associate will have the following responsibilities:
Grants Management
- Support Due Diligence (DD) visits to applicant businesses to inform final selection and provide support/technical assistance.
- Provide service and support to participants, ensuring the success of their projects.
- Monitor funded projects, ensuring they meet targets, report progress, and transparently use the financial support.
- Conduct periodic on‐site visits to monitor project progress, following the fund management schedule.
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on project and contribute to the reports produced.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate relationships with participants, acting as a point of contact specifically for the French-speaking participants.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, utilizing French language skills when required.
- Engage with learning teams and share insights and observations from the projects.
Learning and Documentation:
- Contribute to the production of learning material, including articles and learning papers, etc.
- Document key project insights, beneficiary stories, and lessons learned.
Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the Team as needed.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in any business, development or social science related field including but not limited to Commerce, Finance, Economics, International Development, Business Administration, Development Finance or Agricultural Economics.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project management or related fields.
- Experience in supporting due diligence and capacity assessment exercises.
- Familiarity with project lifecycle components, from application to closure.
- Strong oral communication, writing, and analytical skills. Proficiency in French is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
- Willingness to travel regularly within the region.
Senior Manager, Circular Economy (ESG) – Africa
Position Summary
KPMG Africa is looking for a best-in-class candidate to help grow the circular economy business across our different sectors and service lines in Africa. The ideal applicant would be able to find client opportunities for KPMG, manage and develop the relationships with partners, develop appropriate market strategies and assist in execution. Predominantly a client facing role, a key performance metric is the sales and revenue generated for KPMG- though it does not exclude the need to formalise and structure the operational support required to build this practice internally
Role and Responsibilities
Alliance Partners:
- Proactive seek alliance partners to work with in the area of circular economy.
- Develop a database of potential alliance partners to work with.
- Identify and execute key activities that will further grow the alliance partnership (e.g. planning of joint marketing events).
- Collaborate with our local, regional and global ESG leaders and technical leads.
Sales Pipeline Development and Execution:
- Own, understand and manage the circular economy sales pipeline from awareness to conversion.
- A hands-on approach to sales, marketing, and awareness activities – engagement in direct sales opportunities with clients or assistance in RFPs/other opportunities.
- Harvest current channels for leads and develop sustainable new leads channels to keep the pipeline active. (This includes deal creation with or without involvement of partners.)
- Create and report back on key pipeline metrics, keeping internal stakeholders up to date with opportunities available.
- Initiate and support business development interactions between key staff and responsible partners to shape pursuits and proposals.
- Lead business development that results in winning work for the firm.
Practice Formalisation and Development:
- Optimize the current operations, management process and reporting.
- Connect and learn from KPMG’s global decarbonization hub and EMA ESG hub on how they manage their relationships & pipeline.
- Work with the marketing team to develop targeted campaigns and strategy specific materials.
- Report to Africa ESG lead partner on key performance metrics – Pipeline and assignments.
Skills and attributes required for this role:
- Understanding of ESG and especially the circular economy aspects, including public sector and private sector aspects.
- Ability and experience to generate demand for ESG/circular economy consulting business.
- Ability to create new, profitable lead channels while mining existing sales channels for opportunities.
- Ability to present and communicate clearly with client stakeholders.
- Must be able to work autonomously and in a team, while seeking leadership guidance appropriately.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and track multiple business development activities.
Advantageous:
- Previous experience of working in a global consulting firm and/or familiarity with the services provided.
- Demonstrate ability to articulate and deliver circular economy business solutions that address real issues in Africa.
- Previous experience in leading or delivery of circular economy or related solutions in global firm – ESG driven.
Minimum requirements (including qualifications and experience)
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a consulting role with at least 2-3 years’ experience in circular economy or offering similar services.
- Verifiable history of meeting/ exceeding sales targets and finding new sales channels or pathways to sell circular economy solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of circular economy and ESG solutions.
- Must be technically strong in the waste management and recycling space.
- Experience in working with International Development Agencies is a plus.
- A post graduate qualification or accreditation in the relevant ESG area is an added advantage.
- Proven ability to lead and manage cross-jurisdictional teams.
- Ability to travel across Africa to events and meetings in addition to working from local office or home office.

Senior Manager, Carbon Markets (ESG) – Africa
Position Summary
KPMG Africa is looking for a best-in-class candidate to help grow the decarbonization business across our different sectors and service lines in Africa, including but not limited to, carbon finance, carbon markets and carbon project development/verification. The ideal applicant would be able to find client opportunities for KPMG, manage and develop relationships with partners, develop appropriate market strategies and assist in execution. Predominantly a client facing role, a key performance metric is the sales and revenue generated for KPMG- though it does not exclude the need to formalize and structure the operational support required to build this practice internally.
The role will be located in Nairobi, Kenya and will be on initial twoyear contract terms (renewable subject to performance).
Role and Responsibilities
- Acting as KPMG’s focal point on Carbon Markets in Africa
- Participating to KPMG International’s efforts related to Carbon Markets and acting as a relay for Africa in global calls and working groups discussions
- Leading client discussions, proposals and project execution efforts
- Contributing publicly to the visibility and communication of KPMG’s activities and outcomes in the field of Carbon Markets
- Authoring (or contributing to the production of) Carbon Markets related Thought Leaderships and reports
- Leading the identification and qualification process of opportunities related to Carbon Markets in Africa (e.g., VCM projects, Article 6 projects or policy-based opportunities)
- Actively supporting KPMG Africa’s Member Firms, whenever relevant and possible, throughout client engagements related to Carbon Markets (e.g., proposal, client pitch and delivery of the work)
- Actively contributing to the ongoing effort of internal capacity building of KPMG Member Firms’ colleagues in Africa on topics such as climate finance, carbon markets, Article 6 readiness, other types of carbon pricing instruments etc.
- Supporting the development and management of institutional frameworks and databases for carbon market implementation in Africa in-house and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders (e.g., ACMI)
- Working on the analysis and capacity building support required for the successful implementation of Article 6 cooperative approaches in Africa
Attributes and Skills
- Understanding of ESG, especially the decarbonization drivers and carbon finance aspects.

Expected Experience:
- Masters of Sciences in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Environmental Law.
- 10 years of work experience in the field of Climate Finance and Carbon Markets
- Clear understanding of Carbon Pricing Instruments operating, planned, or considered in Africa and interlinkages (present and future) with Carbon Markets.
- Must have Deep knowledge across the VCM landscape.
- Demonstrated experience in the development cycle of carbon projects
- Knowledge and expertise in Nature-Based Solutions (forest conservation, afforestation, and reforestation activities) would be considered a plus
- Must have familiarity with Partnerships for Carbon Accounting Financial (PCAF), and good understanding of standards in the Carbon Market (such as Verra and Gold standards).
- Data analytics or previous experience with registries would be a plus.
- Candidate ideal location: Nairobi. Although other locations in Africa can also be considered.
- Language requirement: fluent in English (both in speaking and writing).
