Audit Manager – Department of Professional Practice (DPP)
Position Summary
The Department of Professional Practice (DPP) is required to undertake consultation, pre-issuance review and other activities in accordance with the KPMG DPP manual. The main objectives of DPP include:
- Supporting teams in performing quality engagements.
- Contributing to quality financial reporting by KPMG clients.
- Driving consistent application of standards across the KPMG network.
- Protecting KPMG’s reputation by providing support that mitigates risks related to technical issues facing member firms and KPMG clients.
- Participating in regional and global networks
- Contributing to standard setting and professional development; and
- Adding value by developing and maintaining leading edge technical knowledge and transforming that knowledge into value for our clients and other stakeholders.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Researching and answering assurance, audit and review methodology and reporting queries raised by KPMG staff and clients in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS Standards), International Standards on Auditing (ISAs), International Standards on Assurance Engagements (ISAE), International Standards on Review Engagements (ISRE), among others.
- Researching on and supporting engagement teams on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assurance methodology and assurance reporting matters in accordance with the relevant framework. This includes involvement in development of guidance, commenting on proposed pronouncements and regulations. It also includes supporting engagement teams on ESG matters considered as part of the financial statement audit.
- Reviewing reports submitted to DPP by engagement teams and liaising with engagement teams on these reports.
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of audit and assurance updates and training on IFRS Standards, ISAs, among others to KPMG partners, staff and clients.
- Staying up to date with developments in applicable Standards through internal research and involvement in KPMG’s IFRS Standards and audit topic teams.
- Assisting with updating the various technical “tools”, work papers and guidance.
- Assisting with the monthly compliance reviews to ensure that the trainings achieve the intended results.
- Providing support to the Quality Performance Review process and other regulatory reviews.
- Providing support to the Engagement Quality Control reviewer to ensure that financial statements comply with applicable accounting and reporting standards and relevant regulatory requirements and that the report(s) is appropriate.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in business administration, economics, finance, accounting or any other related field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a professional accounting firm in accounting and/or auditing field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience providing technical advisory services to audit engagement teams or clients.
- CPA or ACCA qualification (finalist).
- Exposure to/ conversant with IFRS 17 will be an added advantage.

Audit Senior Associate – Department of Professional Practice (DPP)
Position Summary

Key roles and responsibilities
- Respond to consultations and informal queries related to accounting and auditing/review matters.
- Perform pre-issuance reviews of financial statements as required by KPMG DPP Manual.
- Prepare IFRS training materials for facilitation of both audit teams and client training.

- Build strong working relationships and interactions with both audit teams and clients to ensure efficient information flow to DPP.

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in business administration, economics, finance, accounting or any other related field.
- 3 years’ experience in a professional accounting firm in accounting and/or auditing field.
- CPA or ACCA qualification (finalist).

KPMG Tax Manager – Regulatory Services
Key roles and responsibilities
- Manage a full range of Tax services in compliance with laws and regulations.
- Identify client tax risks and develop innovative tax strategies.
- Oversee direct and indirect tax advisory and compliance engagements.
- Handle Tax audits and investigations, including objections and appeals.
- Manage and provide guidance to teams on multiple engagements.
- Follow up with the revenue authority on client issues.
- Act as a liaison with clients and regulators.
- Prepare briefs and alerts on current tax developments and changes in tax legislation.
- Present work of high quality with minimum input by Senior managers, Directors or Partners.
- Continuously produce innovative ways to improve processes internally within the Business Unit and firm and for clients.
- Develop and manage client relationships through in-depth understanding of client businesses and expectations, providing valued insights, explanations and proactive guidance.
- Identify and pursue potential business opportunities and build relationships with potential clients and referrals, to further business growth.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the firm’s service offering, participate in business development activities and selling of products for tax team and other Business units.
- Manage work processes to ensure Tax recoverability targets are met, bills are raised, and collections are done on a timely basis.

Academic/Professional qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Taxation, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, Law and Economics or any other Business-related courses.
- Post Graduate Diploma/ Masters in Taxation, Law or any relevant professional qualification in Taxation, Law, Finance and Accounting from college/university/ qualified professional awarding institution.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access along with experience performing internet research.
- A minimum of five years in Tax related work preferably in Consultancy services/ Revenue Authority or industry environment.
- Minimum experience of 4 years in managing project assignments and teams.
- Excellent structuring and tax advisory skills.
- Good knowledge and appreciation of tax legislation and regulatory environment.
- Working knowledge of accounting information systems and Tax tools.
- Strong technical knowledge and research skills in Taxation accounting, Tax compliance, Tax planning and Strategy.
