Senior Registrar Paediatrics
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis and treatment: The senior registrar is responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses among the pediatrics= and adolescent population. They perform physical exams, order diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and provide medical treatments as needed.
- Preventive care: The senior registrar also focuses on preventing illnesses and promoting wellness by providing preventive care services such as vaccinations, health screenings, and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
- Family-centered care: The senior registrar provides care to the infants, children, and adolescents. They develop long-term relationships with patients and families to provide ongoing care and support.
- Coordination of care: The senior registrar works closely with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and optimal health outcomes for patients. They may refer patients to specialists when necessary and collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop treatment plans.
- Patient education: The senior registrar provides education to patients and their families on various health topics, including disease prevention, medication management, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Record-keeping: The senior registrar maintains accurate medical records of all patient encounters, including diagnoses, treatments, and medications prescribed.
- Participation in organisation wide quality improvement programs to strengthen the clinical governance such as JCI.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Masters of Medicine in pediatrics and child health from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery.
- Practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council.

Medical Officer A&E

Consultant Paediatrician
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilisation in order to provide curative services in line with established protocols and promote patient centricity including providing clinical support during emergencies including resuscitation or referral to the appropriate consultants in the Paediatrics and child health aspect.
- Strategy, policy and processes implementation -Oversee the Paediatric AE department by providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective clinical strategies, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the regulatory bodies and ensure sustainable growth of the department.
- Fostering the growth of patient volumes, in line with the annual budgets, through a focused delivery of high quality care and patient-sensitive service that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients.
- To foster multidisciplinary working and take an active role in developing clinical governance initiatives, by participation in multidisciplinary audit, clinical effectiveness initiatives and risk management including adherence to JCIA standards
- Developing a staffing, recruitment, training, performance management plan consistent with the service goals of the department.
- Working with colleagues across the MP shah hospital to ensure that opportunities for collaboration are maximized and that clinical services are delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBChB or equivalent recognized by KMPDC,
- MMed or equivalent degree in Pediatrics and Child Health
- Fellowship in Emergency Medicine recognized by KMPDC is an added advantage
- Experience or Further training in Healthcare administration
- KMPDC registration and Specialist License
- Past experience as Consultant in Pediatrics Department
- Two years post masters or 1 year in emergency medicine consultant position.
