Supervisor–Risk and Compliance
Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, the Supervisor–Risk and Compliance must be a self-driven person who will be responsible for initiating and in liaison with the respective departmental heads, manage the operational, insurance risk and compliance initiatives for the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Creating awareness on risk management to facilitate embedding of a risk-conscious culture across the Company.
- Monitoring of risks and preparation of reports to management and other risk committees on various aspects of risk management e.g. reports of monitoring key risk indicators.
- Following up proactively on action plans put in place by management or the various risk committees to address risk exposures and report on the same.
- Conducting risk modeling in line with the various established risk analysis models.
- Conducting risk analysis and quantification of financial and insurance risks through sensitivity analyses and stress testing for financial and insurance risks as well as major projects in the company.
- Implement the risks and compliance policies and procedures in place.
- Provide relevant information required by external bodies and regulators on compliance matters such as reporting suspicious transactions related to money laundering and the fight against terrorism financing.
- Keep abreast with the applicable laws, regulations, rules and standards in the risk & compliance fraternity and advice on the emerging developments of the same.
- Undertake any other tasks as assigned.
Key Competencies Required
- Strong analytical skills with ability to pay attention to details;
- Knowledge of risk management concepts and principles;
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems
- Self-driven individual with ability to work with minimum supervision;
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills;
Academic /Professional Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science or a related field
- Professional qualification in either CPA,ACCA,CISA or IRM;
- At least 3 years relevant experience in Audit or Risk Management.

Claims Supervisor – Group Business Operations
Key Responsibility
The role holder will be responsible for efficiently processing and where applicable approving automated Group schemes claims in line with the departmental service benchmarks and to ensure that our clients are paid on time.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervising claims assistants/officers and ensure that their performance meets the required laid down standards.
- Timely automated processing of the group business claims while ensuring that death certificates are verified as per the claim amount.
- Timely approving of the automated group business claims in instances where you are not the process initiator as per the ratified authority limits.
- To maintain records of claims processed/paid and doing a follow up with the finance department to ensure timely payments to the claimants/clients.
- Provide technical support to branches and other departments.
- Ensure full (100%) automation of the group business claims procedures and reports in LMS.
- Ensure 100% integration of LMS, SAP and any other system in MLAK
- Liaising with ICT to make sure that all IT issues are 100% sorted out.
- Ensure that all relevant claim documents, emails and other correspondences are properly captured in ECM and where applicable filed in the respective files.
- Preparation and timely submission of all Group Business claims (Group Life and Group Creditor) and Annuities Payouts reports.
- Ensure timely response to clients, branch offices and agents’ inquiries on technical and process-related inquiries that include; premium positions, claims status/documentation, as well as policy statements in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
Qualifications & Skills
- Business related Degree.
- Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII or IIK).
- At least 3 years’ experience in group life claims.
- Attention to detail.
- Ensure excellent communication
- Self-starter who is well organized.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office especially MS Excel and MS Word.
