Qualification

Must have:
An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant area of specialization from a recognized/accredited university;
- Demonstrated hands on skills in software development and databases
OR
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline (for special cases outlined on MKU teaching staff appointments and promotions guidelines, 2020) with 3 years teaching/industry/research experience;
- Expected to have registered for a PhD degree in the relevant discipline.
- At least three (3) years teaching experience at university level and demonstrated hands on skills in software development and databases;
- At least 24 publication points of which 16 should be from refereed scholarly journals
- Be registered by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable)

SENIOR ICT OFFICER DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have:
- At least a Master’s degree or its equivalent in ICT Related field,
- ICT Certification with 3 years’ experience in a similar position.
- 3 years’ experience as System/Network Administrators at Grade 10 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution.
OR
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in ICT Related field with specialization ICT Certification in Security/Networking (Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle), Or
- 5 years’ experience at Grade 10 within MKU or at a similar position in a recognized academic institution
Key responsibilities also include
Reporting to: Principal Technology Officer
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assess the systems, network and/or web requirements in liaison with senior ICT staff to meet the needs of the University;
- Design and implementation of the corporate ICT requirements of the University; the Internet backbone and the Local Area Network;
- Bandwidth management; planning and advising the University on acquisition and distribution, and adherence to service level agreements;
- Design and implement measures to ensure network security including all the network hardware and software protection; and
- Train and develop the requisite leadership, managerial and technical skills towards meeting the needs of the Network Administration & Security.
- Coordinate the functions of database administration, network administration, applications development, ICT support and training, security and disaster management to provide coherent operations in towards effectively meeting the ICT service needs of the University;
- Assess training in professional and technical skills for the continued effective delivery ICT services in the University;
- Explore, inform and train the ICT team on new technologies and their possible impact towards attaining the University vision and mission;
- Train and develop the requisite leadership, managerial and technical skills towards meeting the needs of the ICT Department Team.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER 1 POSITION
Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in HR or Social Sciences with Three (3) years of experience as a HR Assistant.
- Be registered with IHRM
OR
- A Higher National Diploma in HR
- Five (5) years of experience as a HR Assistant
- Be registered with IHRM

- Implementing human resource policies, strategies and plans at the Campus level
- Coordinate manpower planning and placement.
- Implement effective staff communication channels internally and reporting
- Support customer service, and drive University culture by integrating HR service delivery.
- Working closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting them to understand and implement University HR policies and procedures
- Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the University
- Liaising with a wide range of people involved in policy formulation.
- Providing support services towards recruiting staff, selection and placements.
- Advise staff on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits.
- Participating in regular review of HR policies, strategies and processes.
