Duties And Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Management

  • Provide leadership in the management and implementation of the Child Learning and HH resilience Technical Program in the National office
  • In collaboration with the finance unit, ensure planning and budgeting, project funding, expenditures and process are aligned and operating smoothly.
  • Lead the designing and adaptation of Technical Program
  • Lead in the setting-up of the technical standards to be adhered to by all implementing staff and partners
  • Approve the technical detailed implementation plans
  • Prepare and produce technical program reports for dissemination to various stakeholders

Monitoring, Accountability and Innovation

  • Ensure the development of the TP capacity to focus strategically on initiatives which generate high quality programing leading to measurable and sustainable development
  • Ensure proper management and stewardship of donor and organizational resources
  • Ensure that findings and recommendations from various accountability mechanisms such as Peer Review, Operational and Finance Audits, Program evaluations, Program Capability Review, are acted upon in a timely and effective manner
  • Develop departmental risk register, ensure its implementation to mitigate risks and ensure accountability

Donor Engagement and Fund raising

  • In collaboration with RAM, develop and market quality concepts, proposals, partner profiles and capacity statements to increasing funding portfolio for the technical program and related grants
  • In coordination with RAM Department develop annual growth plans for the technical program area in line with the NO strategy
  • Actively engage in funding negotiations with support offices and coordination with RAM Department and in alignment with Regional Grants Acquisition & Management Strategy & the Regional Working Group Decisions
  • Provide advice on donor management (government/private donors and support offices) ensuring proper resolutions
  • Provide support to RAM in responding to appropriate request for applications for bilateral and multilateral sources in coordination with relevant SOs and management of grant funded program
  • Actively participate in the “Go / No-go” decision making process and ensure that all risks are addressed consistently.

Collaboration and Advocacy

  • In coordination with Program Effective and Impact Director and Support Offices, develop and maintain pro-active relationships with bilateral and multilateral representatives in the country.
  • Maintain effective communications and pro-active relationships with Support Office partners, including visits by donors.
  • In coordination with the Program Effective and Impact Director, develop and maintain good relationships with national government ministries, other NGOs and the development sector in general.
  • In coordination with the Senior Management Team ensure implementation of Partnership initiatives, capacity building of national office staff and knowledge sharing within the NO.

Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide Tangible Strategic Leadership & Performance Management to the World Vision Kenya Technical Programs, Faith & Development, Policy, Advocacy & Government Relations, DMEAL teams while fostering partnerships with Donors, Support Offices, Global Center and Government of Kenya in line with National Office Strategic priorities.  This is a senior leadership position in World Vision Kenya and manages/supervises senior technical staff in key sectors of the organization.

To provide Strategic Leadership & Operational Program Quality Management services to enhance program implementation, impact and learning across all WV Kenya programs and projects – (Sponsorship, Grants, Emergency response) intervention. The position will provide performance Management to the Technical Program managers, Design, Monitoring, Evidence & Learning team, Faith and development, Policy Advocacy and Governance Relations. The position will foster partnerships with Donors, Support Offices, Global Centre, East Africa Regional office and Government of Kenya in line with National Office Strategic priorities.

The position will ensure high quality program quality (including MEAL community engagement and empowerment processes, sector-focused) technical guidance and assistance to program/projects, capacity development; oversee, applied research processes; ensure appropriate donor and organizational compliance; and facilitate organizational learning from program results.

The incumbent will drive National Office Strategy formulation/refresh and cascading to programs interventions, departmental unit’s operational plans, strategy implementation, tracking and reporting.  This will include developing systems and approaches to enhance National office senior leadership use of program data for adaptive management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategic Management 

  •  Provide leadership to the technical programs, Faith & Development, Policy & Advocacy, Strategy & Program Effectiveness sectors

Senior Instructional Designer, Global Finance

JOB PURPOSE

The Sr Instructional Designer for Global Finance will create and articulate Learning & Development (L&D) content cascade through various Programme designs, paying attention to the audience and pitch.  Research, design from scratch and deliver e-Learning and/or workshop-based content for global finance, Shared Service Center (SSC) and procurement staff, including Global Center (GC), Regional Office (RO), National Office (NO), Support Offices (SO’s) and may also include VisionFund International [VFI]). 

Will research and evaluate best practices for content creation.  Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to define learning objectives, content needs assessments, analysis and design, create storyboards and develop course materials and participant/facilitator guides using appropriate software.  Create evaluation tools that will be utilized to measure the quality of materials and needed improvements or enhancements to the curriculum.  Work on special projects that address learning needs for global systems implementation (e.g., ProVision, Horizon)

MAJOR RESPONSABILITES

35% – Independently research leadership management best practices and create appropriate content from scratch for global finance, supply chain and shared services staff. Design, create, pilot and revise content, activities and materials for an online and/or blended learning format with a focus on instructional design and delivery methods that are best suited for the learning environment and learner experience. 

  • Create a learning “cascade” that takes learners from orientation to first-time manager to mid-level manager to a leadership role.  Identify relevant content for each stage in a learning journey and ensure content has the right pitch.
  • Utilize Global Core Competency Framework as well as either Finance Competency or SCM Competency Profile to identify soft and/or technical skills we need to develop.

25% – Analyze competency and skill gaps in existing curriculum and sequence/scaffolding competencies and related skills to specifically support talent development. 

  • Work with SME’s to assist with the development and sequencing of content that supports what learners need to learn.  Work with SME’s to define eLearning objectives for intended courses, including curriculum needs assessment and design for courses and/or learning programmes. 
  • Work with sector champions to ensure the content matches objectives. 

20% –   Learning objectives defined and agreed for each course offering to enhance the learner experience. 

5% – Revise and rewrite the content as needed to ensure materials reflect current trends and the desired learning outcomes are achievable. 

5% – Provide advice and guidance on best practices for attaining learning objectives on subjects/topics and advise on appropriate systems (captivate, articulate, Camtasia, etc.) and/or host sites (e-Campus, Learning Zone, WVCentral, WVUniversity, etc.)

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required minimum professional experience, education, training, license, registration, and certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) to seven (7) years of work experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of Instructional Design (ID) experience with demonstrated knowledge of Instructional Design processes as well as technology and web skills. 
  • Need experience in Leadership Development, both theory and practical application
  • Ability to carry out analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation (ADDIE) processes that are fundamental to ID. 
  • Experience working with Adobe Captivate, Rise, Articulate, Raptivity, Camtasia or other course authoring software required.

Chief of Party – USAID/Kenya Feed the Future project – Scaling Inclusive Food Systems

Key Responsibilities:

World Vision Kenya seeks a Chief of Party for an anticipated USAID/Kenya Feed the Future project. The goal of Feed the Future in Kenya is to sustainably reduce hunger, malnutrition and poverty in the Zone of Influence. This activity is a 5-year program worth $25 – 49.99 million. The purpose is to increase agriculture-led growth, resilience of people and systems and the population’s nutritional status, especially among women and children. The project is expected to foster private sector-led agricultural production sustainably; increase productivity, farmers’ income, and the resilience of Kenyan’s agriculture and food systems. This will take a market systems approach to promote the development of inclusive business models; improve farmer access to inputs, investment, technical expertise; and foster sustainable private sector partnerships.

The Chief of Party’s (CoP) primary responsibilities include providing overall leadership, management, and general technical direction of the entire project and consortium partners, ensuring an integrated vision among different components and actors, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the award. The CoP will be the principal point of contact in Kenya and is ultimately responsible for all contract management and implementation. S/he will be the primary liaison with USAID/Kenya on technical matters and expected to steer operations in response to USAID/Kenya technical direction. The CoP expected to identify issues and risks related to project implementation and suggest appropriate timely adjustments. The CoP must be able to communicate World Vision’s Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Management

  • Provide overall strategic vision and leadership for project implementation including drafting project work plans and leading the successful implementation of annual work plans and budgets
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to consortium partners on effective strategies to realize Inclusive sustainable agriculture-led economic growth; strengthened resilience among people and systems as well as well-nourished women and children

Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Master’s degree in business management, agriculture, economics, project management or other closely related field relevant to the position
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant, Chief of Party experience managing and implementing partnerships with the private sector to foster economic development.
  • At least 10 years of experience working with the private sector, agribusiness development, and market systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as chief of party for USAID or other donor market systems, agriculture, or related development programs of similar or greater scope and complexity;
