Human Resource Associate, Organizational Development
Job Purpose
This position will be responsible to perform duties associated with the talent management aspect of learning and organizational development. It will specifically work to support the activities of performance management and capacity building initiatives in the region. This will include supporting in the running and closing of the annual performance cycle and related activities as well as the operational cycle management, coordination, and execution of all capacity building initiatives under the Aspire programme including management traineeship, graduate traineeship and internships at the University for campuses in East Africa. These programmes will be carried on with the overall talent development strategy and in line with the programmes followed in campuses in Pakistan. Additionally, this position will contribute to planning, designing, organizing, facilitating, and maintaining records and initiatives of capacity building programmes that are taken up throughout the year.
Key responsibilities:
- Closing the performance cycle for relevant areas in accordance with the defined timelines.
- Supporting in establishing Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) for identified individuals in the region.
- Assist with a successful end-to-end cycle of graduate programmes or recruitment cycles for capacity building initiative for the organization.
- In coordination with relevant functions, execution of complete life cycle of traineeship and internship programmes including onboarding, development, retention, and performance management.
- Contribute in implementation of creative and innovative sourcing strategies and techniques to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for capacity building of the organization.
- Implementing strategies to develop and retain talent on traineeship level in the organization and defining the recruitment goals in East Africa under supervision of Assistant Manager, Aspire Programme.
- Obtaining requisites from various departments and corporate heads regarding their needs for management/graduate trainees.
- Overseeing the execution of the Assessment Centre and facilitating interviews for the short-listed candidates.
- Extending job offer and negotiating terms of employment contract with the selected candidates.
- Overseeing the onboarding and orientation of the trainees.
- Managing and monitoring performance with the relevant departments.
- Assist in review of candidate profiles and assessment performance to make hiring decisions.
- Prepare documentation and other necessary requirements for offer placement and onboarding.
- Assist in overseeing the onboarding process of the trainees and their orientation phase as well as rotations of trainees during the period of traineeship.
- Assist and coordinate assigned activities related to the full life cycle of programmes offered under the ASPIRE banner (pre-hiring, hiring and post hiring activities).
- Maintain records of all trainees to build systematic statistical information
- Monitor and review the feedback of learning and development programmes for the trainees
- Contribute in building a positive and achievement-oriented work environment for trainees onboard.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills required:
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree in business administration
- At least 3 years of professional work experience in Human Resources
- Demonstrated experience of execution and evaluation of hiring activities and techniques
- Exposure to recruitment and managing employee life cycles activities
- Strong planning and management skills and ability to apply these skills effectively
- Strong self-management with a high level of energy and flexibility.
- Experienced in creating and sustaining productive relationships with external and internal clients.
- Prior experience in managing staffing projects and initiatives.
- Ability to work well within teams with a diverse population base.
- Good organizational and time management skills.

Senior Instructor, Undergraduate Medical Education
Job Summary
The incumbent will undertake educational and clinical functions under the supervision of the Department Chair or delegated individuals within the department. In this role, the incumbent will be involved in teaching, educational leadership, clinical service in the clinical laboratory, clinical and educational research, and student mentoring. The faculty will work closely with the UGME Pathology course coordinator, other pathology course leads and all pathology Faculty in delivery of clinical pathology courses to MBChB students.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the course lead with the aim of ensuring coordination and management of all educational activities and delivery of clinical pathology courses to MBChB students.
- Design, implement, and evaluate clinical pathology-related educational materials, including lectures, labs, small group discussions, and interactive learning modules.
- Coordinate and oversee the delivery of learning sessions by other faculty, ensuring content consistency, pedagogical alignment, and adherence to course objectives.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the student learning experience and instructional delivery.
- Develop and conduct formative and summative assessments, including multiple-choice exams, practical exams, written assignments and case-based presentations, providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Pursue extramural funding opportunities for both educational and clinical research projects.
- Conduct research in areas such as curriculum innovation, student assessment, active learning, and competency-based education.
- Design and conduct clinical research studies in diagnostic pathology.
- Support the clinical laboratory’s education mission by mentoring residents, fellows, and medical technologists in the Department of Pathology.
- Provide diagnostic services in the clinical service laboratory, including test interpretation, reporting, and consultation with clinical teams.
Requirements
- Master of Medicine in Clinical Pathology or equivalent.
- Recognized and registered as a Clinical Pathologist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Experience in teaching clinical pathology subjects at the undergraduate or post-graduate level.
- Ongoing expert-level practice in clinical laboratory practice at a busy clinical service laboratory
- Previous experience in curriculum development, course leadership, or educational program management.
- Experience in competency-based medical education, active learning methods, and simulation-based teaching.
- Familiarity with educational technologies, including learning management systems and virtual labs.
- A record of educational and clinical scholarship, including published research and presentations at conferences.
- Experience in grant writing and securing external funding.

Pharmacology Faculty, Biomedical Sciences
Job Summary
The department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a Full-time Faculty to make a significant contribution to the delivery of the undergraduate teaching including the delivery of high-quality teaching in Pharmacology across MBChB, BSc. and nursing undergraduate programmes. The incumbent will have an important academic and research leadership role in embedding research expertise into the life of the discipline and the department. They will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across AKU and with local, national and international, internal and external partners.
Responsibilities
- Teach Pharmacology through lectures, small group work, and online materials.
- Share responsibility for the operational planning and management of Pharmacology teaching and assessment sessions, taking account of health and safety issues, and balancing competing pressures to ensure they are well organised, pedagogically sound and make effective use of resources.
- Contribute to curriculum development and innovation in teaching, learning and assessment in Pharmacology, within the guidance set.
- Work with colleagues to create an effective integrated curriculum within the programme and to engage students in interactive learning methods using innovative technology and imaging. To collaborate with other colleagues, particularly clinical staff, to achieve these ends.
- Contribute to the regular evaluation and development of blocks that include Pharmacology, in terms of content, delivery and assessment. To use evaluation information to continuously improve the quality of the achieved learning and the student experience and help distribute findings and developments to students and staff.

Requirements

- A postgraduate degree in Pharmacology.

- Accomplished teaching of Pharmacology in an undergraduate medical programme (or similar) using evidence-informed interactive approaches for large and small groups and incorporating information technology.
- Teaching postgraduate and undergraduate students in programmes other than MBChB, BSc. Nursing or equivalent.
- Educational management ensures well-organized delivery with continuous quality improvement.

- A track record of publications in international journals.
