Lecturer – Nursing

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching and evaluation of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Setting, moderating, administering, processing and marking examinations.
- Academic advising and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Development of teaching and learning materials.
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students in research activities.
- Developing research proposals for funding.
- Participate in meetings and conferences related to research and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
- Participating in preparation of Department and Faculty strategic plans.

- Undertaking administrative duties and other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements;
- An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university; and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
OR
- A Master’s degree in the relevant field from accredited and recognized university (in special cases) with at least three (3) years teaching experience at university level or in research or industry; and
- A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least ten (10) should be from refereed journal papers; and
- Registered with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Assistant Lecturer – Medical Laboratory Science

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Skills Laboratory Technologist (Nursing)

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist nursing students with skills lab to meet clinical objectives in Fundamental of Nursing and Health assessment practical sessions. And Nursing Skills practical sessions.
- Serve as skills coordinator for Fundamental of Nursing and Health assessment practical sessions
- Assist in developing clinical activity days such as medication/Maternity boot camps with lead faculty.
- Assist nursing students who are practicing procedures, evaluate their work, and advise nursing faculty of laboratory performance.
- Monitor and maintain confidential lab student records. Track student hours, number ofsessions and notes on lab activities and performance.
- Maintain a current schedule for all nursing labs and simulation
- Identify and maintain reference materials, assisting students in finding reference materials in the nursing labs.
- Maintain inventory of lab/simulation equipment. Ensure that laboratory equipment is up to date and reflective of current practice.
- Ensure Laboratory equipment is marked not for human use according to accreditation standards.
- Maintain relationship with vendors on updates for equipment and renewing warranties.
- Remain current in the areas of standard precautions. Ensure that safety requirements are in place and faculty and students follow safe procedures.

Requirements:
- Have Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from accredited and recognized University in the relevant field.
- Diploma in Nursing will be an added advantage)
- Three (3) years of practice as a registered nurse in a position involving direct patient care particularly Midwifery, General Nursing care and Pre-operative, Intraoperative care.
- Registered with Nursing Council of Kenya
- Have a valid Practicing Licence
Medical Laboratory Technologist

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collecting, analyzing and preserving test samples;
- Carrying out blood grouping;
- Storing blood products according to their requirements;
- Screening for blood transfusion infections;
- Issuing blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities as per requests;
- Preparing blood products for safe custody or use;
- Decontaminating working benches;
- Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens;
- Preparing clients for the collection of specimens;
- Receiving, collecting, labeling and registering specimens;
- Disaggregating specimens for processing and analyses;
- Preparing stains;
- Dispatching results for use in clinical management;
- Preparing reagents;
- Examining specimens;
- Writing and recording of results;
- Maintaining analytical database, laboratory stores, records and equipment; and
- Writing laboratory reports.
Requirements:
- Have Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science
- Registered with relevant professional body
- Valid practicing license from the relevant professional body;
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Cumulative service period of six (6) years’ relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Medical Laboratory Technologist II or in a comparable position
