Senior Registrar – Anaesthesiology and Critical Care

Main Duties:

  • Providing pre and post-anaesthetic assessment and care of patients in the hospital
  • Working with surgeons to administer anaesthetics in a manner that is safe for the procedure being done
  • Providing support on the management of patients admitted to the ICU in conjunction with Consultants, Registrars, ICU coordinator and other support staff.
  • Addressing promptly any concerns raised by patients or their kin in regard to care or treatment given in consultation with the Director of Medical Services and other professionals.
  • Documenting and maintaining records of all procedures undertaken.
  • Guiding, supervising and providing continuous education to junior medical staff and students.
  • Keep abreast with trends, development and utilization of technology in the field of anaesthesia and intensive care medicine on an ongoing basis.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required.

Required Qualifications for the Position

  • MMED in Anaesthesia and Critical care
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB)
  • Minimum 3 years as a Senior Medical Officer
  • At least 1 year in a busy theatre
  • Ability to train & develop staff
  • Registered with KMPDC with a valid practicing license

Senior Registrar Radiology & Imaging

Main Duties:

  • Interpretation and reporting of imaging studies that include Conventional Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, Mammography, and Cross-sectional imaging (MRI and CT). Additional skill in basic image-guided interventional procedures would be an added advantage
  • Work alongside radiographers, sonographers and other health professionals in administering treatment.
  • Ensuring proper handling of emergency cases when on duty.
  • Ensuring that high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient care are maintained
  • In liaison with the HOD and other radiologists, ensure that legal obligations for radiation protection are observed
  • Participating in clinical audit and reviewing programs for the department.
  • Ensuring consistency with procedure protocols, patient conditions, physical abilities and age requirements.
  • Screening all patients using best practices in radiation protection to protect patients, fellow staff members and self.
  • Attending and on request, facilitating multi-disciplinary meetings.
  • Attending to teleconsultations and other Ad hoc consultations.
  • Provision of expert radiological advice to Hospital clinical teams as may be requested.
  • Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required.
  • Any other duty assigned.

Required Qualifications for the Position

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
  • Masters of Medicine in Radiology
  • Computer Proficiency.
  • Valid practicing license and indemnity
  • Ability to utilize Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.
