Director, Product Design
Position summary:
Design and deliver scalable, and repeatable offerings available to our customers. These build upon the expertise developed in our programs work but are standardized into specific bundles that ensure economies of scale, and an ongoing sustainable market for positive impact to be realized.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design (including enhancement) of each scalable and repeatable Product.
- Provide vision & strategic director to the team that designs products that meet Customer needs, at a price point that is acceptable for them, and financially viable for RA, and deliver positive impact in alignment with our mission at scale.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of tailored (majority non-M&E) projects / platforms (such as the income accelerator platform) funded by earned revenue as we look to bring them to scale and embed as standardized approaches going forward.
- Own the Portfolio Stage Gate process.
- Change Management: Drive change initiatives across the organization, ensuring smooth transitions and buy-in from stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (minimum 10 years).
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing multicultural teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Expert in leading through influence with stakeholders including executives.
- Strategic use of testing and data to move quickly.

Product Owner, LandScale
Position summary:
The Product Owner is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day development and execution of the LandScale platform within the Rainforest Alliance. They focus on managing the detailed execution of the product backlog and ensuring that the platform meets user needs, as directed by the strategic product vision set by the Product Manager. You will also contribute to the design of new features, when appropriate, and to LandScale’s strategy. You will support the operations team with customer management, developing of training materials, ensuring user satisfaction and successful use of the tool.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the development of the LandScale platform within the Rainforest Alliance. Including but not limited to:
- Work with the portfolio / planning managers and the Product Manager on defining and maintaining the product roadmap, backlog, and product goal / vision; sharing the results in a timely manner.
- Define and gain agreement on relevant product epics and stories, ensuring cross dependencies, issues and risks are identified and tracked.
- Manage the product budget for relevant development activities to ensure on cost and schedule delivery.
- Manage all stages of product development, including planning, development, execution, testing, and deployment. Ensure cross-functional alignment and that all features meet performance, scalability, and quality standards.
- Manage expectations of and maintain good relationships with all the stakeholders involved in creating and delivering the product (technology, UX / UI, external service providers etc), as well as organisational subject matter experts.
- Update and communicate dashboard progress with senior stakeholders.
- Ensure product and data quality is maintained.
- Promote design thinking, lean and agile ways of working.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in technology, computer science, design, business administration, or a related field, post graduate degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 4 years of experience, including 2+ years as a Product Owner, delivering software and data products in multinational environments.
- Demonstrated experience developing or managing the development of GIS tools and map-based products, including experience in designing systems that enable multi-layered data visualization, spatial analysis, and interactive mapping functionalities.
- Ideally an understanding of latest AI tools and diverse offerings and experience integrating them into existing products.
- Good understanding of lean, agile methodologies (SCRUM / SAFE etc) design thinking, system integration principles.
- Familiarity with modern development practices, including continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and an understanding of DevOps principles.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills, capable of working in a culturally diverse, globally distributed, and remote-first team.
- Preferably strong Spanish verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally as needed.
