Associate Professor – Medical Laboratory
Job Objective
To design and deliver a program of teaching to students, in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully and the University to generate income; to develop and carry out research projects to extend knowledge of the relevant subject area; to provide service to the community and the professions; to translate knowledge into practice; to write or publish books or other creative works.
Duties and responsibilities
- To teach in areas allocated by the Head of Department.
- Design, develop, plan and deliver a range of programmes of study, sometimes for entirely new courses at various levels.
- Deliver high-quality lectures and practicals.
- Review course content and materials on a regular basis, updating when required.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues on course development, curriculum changes and the development of research activities.
- Carry out research and write research grant proposals.
- Seek and participate in consultancies.
- Present research papers at national or international conferences and other similar events.
- Dissemination of research outputs.
- Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and staff.
- Ensure all academic activities align with the standards of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors or as captured in your detailed job description;

Qualification and experience
- PhD/Doctorate in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent degree qualification or a related field from a recognised/accredited university.
- Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science degree or a related field from a recognised/accredited university.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science degree or a related field from a recognised/accredited university.
- At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the University level as a Senior Lecturer.
- A minimum of forty-eight (48) equivalent publication points as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow of which thirty-two (32) should be from refereed journal articles.
- Supervised at least four (4) postgraduate students including (1) doctoral student to the completion.
- Attracted research funds as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow
- Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops.
- Evidence of leadership (administrative experience, active participation in departmental /school/university/national/international activities).
Senior Lecturer – Medical Laboratory

- Evidence of leadership (administrative experience, active participation in departmental /school/university/national/international activities).
- Supervised at least two (2) postgraduate students to completion.
- Attracted research funds as a Lecturer/ Research Fellow.
- Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops.
- A valid practising licence from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
Lecturer – Medical Laboratory

- Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science degree or a related area from a recognised/accredited university.
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science degree or a relevant field from a recognised/accredited University.
- At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the University level.
- A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal articles.
- Attended and contributed at academic conferences, seminars and workshops.
- A valid practising licence from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
