Chief Agricultural Officer – 7 Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • An officer at this level will be deployed at the Sub-County, as a subject matter specialist. 

Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • Coordinate Agricultural activities in the sub county;

Senior Assistant Agricultural Officer – 18 Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

  • An Officer at this level will be deployed in the Sub-County, to be in charge of an Agricultural Project implementation area or as a Training Coordinator/Farm Manager in an Agricultural Training Centre (ATC). 

Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  • Oversee the implementation of project work plans;
  • Prepare and execute training programmes; and
  • As a farm manager the officer will be required to prepare and execute farm plans to ensure efficient running of the Farm.

  • An Officer at this level will be deployed in specific sections i.e. Crop Production, Land Development or Project Management, within a Sub-County.

  • Prepare and implement farm business plans through analysis of various enterprises; and
  • Monitor and advise on adoption of agricultural technologies.

  • Enforce slaughterhouse hygiene and meat transport regulations;
  • Train fanners on livestock records keeping;

  • An Officer at this level will be responsible for planning, organizing, administration and control of activities in Human Resource Units.

Senior Economist II/Senior Statistician II – 9 Positions

Duties and Responsibilities
The officer shall report to the Director Economic Planning and Investments, the officer shall;

  • Be in charge of collecting, and analyzing data to inform desired change in the county;
  • Supervise Economist I/Statistician I;
  • Initiate, implement and appraise national, rural or urban development strategies and projects;
  • Carry out specialized and complex economic planning and statistical analyses,
  • Analyze and interpret statistical data in order to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information;
  • Apply sampling techniques or utilize complete enumeration bases in order to determine and define groups to be surveyed;
  • Develop and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods;
  • Adapt statistical methods in order to solve specific problems in all county sectors;

  • Perform any other duties as may be lawfully assigned.

Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • Served in the grade of Economist I/Statistician I, Job Group CPSB 08 (‘L’), for at least three (3) years;
  • Minimum of an Upper Second Class Honour’s Degree in Economics, or Economics and Mathematics, or Economics and Statistics from a recognized University; and
  • Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.

Senior Assistant Polytechnic Instructor – 6 Positions

Duties and Responsibilities

An instructor at this level may be deployed as Principal of the County Polytechnic in addition to teaching duties. Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entaila) Train in areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;

  • Coordinate courses, projects and practical work;
  • Prepare and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, teaching and learning materials andtrainee records;
  • Induct and supervise newly appointed instructors;
  • Carry out research in the relevant field of specialization;
  • Participate in budget preparation;
  • Conduct co-curricular activities for trainees;
  • Maintain trainee discipline through guiding and counseling;

For promotion to this grade an instructor must have: –

  • Served in the grade of Assistant County Polytechnic instructor I, Job Group CPSB 09/’K’ for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Diploma in any of the following technical disciplines:- Technical Education, Computer Studies/Science; Information and Communication Technology; Electronics Engineering; Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Automotive Engineering; Instrumentation and Control Engineering; Building and Construction Technology; Civil Engineering; Agriculture; Home Economics and Textile Technology; Food Technology; Institutional Management; Food and Beverage Management; Catering and Housekeeping; General Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Linguistics) and Entrepreneurship or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Registered by Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA);
  • Training in pedagogical skills;
  • Have shown merit and ability in work performance and results; and
  • Attended industrial attachment for a minimum of eight (8) weeks in the relevant field.
