REGISTERED CLINICAL OFFICER SPECIALIST

AIC Kapsowar Mission Hospital is a 130-bed teaching and referral facility located in Elgeyo Marakwet County that delivers Christ-centered, compassionate health care to patients from all parts of Kenya. The Hospital performs over 2000 surgical procedures per year and sees over 45,000 outpatients. It has a medical training college (MTC)on site. Its owned and operated under the Africa Inland Church (AIC) – Kenya.

We are seeking to recruit value-based mission driven individual with a high degree of professionalism to fill the position of Registered Clinical Officer Specialist. The individual must have the right values, behaviors and attitudes that match those of AIC Kapsowar Mission Hospital.

S/he will be reporting to the Medical Director. The officer should be willing to see patients in the area of specialization as well as general population. Should be willing to participate in teaching and mentorship of junior officers and students.

Key Responsibilities are:

  1. Ward rounding with the doctors
  2. Undertaking clinical assessment through Interviewing and medical examination of
    patients to obtain and record medical history and making diagnosis
  3. Plan and execute treatment as per the standard practice
  4. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians’ instructions to patients.
  5. Explains hospital admission procedures to the visitors.
  6. Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by stabling and following standards
    and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  7. Ordering laboratory investigations/imaging as per patients’ complaint.
  8. Referring complex/unclear cases for further OBGYN review/investigation.
  9. Recommending Admission of patients and continuing inpatient care
  10. Participate in providing emergency care along with other team members
  11. Participate in training and mentorship of junior officers, interns and students
    AND
  12. Perform any other relevant duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/skills

  1. Diploma/Bachelors degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery;
  2. Higher National Diploma in any of the following areas: Trauma and Emergency
    medicine, Child Health and Paediatrics, Family Health, Emergency Critical Care
    Medicine (ECCO), Chronic Disease Management
  3. Be a registered with of Clinical Officer’s Council of Kenya;
  4. Valid Annual retention certificate
  5. At least one (3) year working experience;
  6. Basic computer skills/ Ability to use EMR;
  7. Experience in coordinating an educational/internship program will be an added advantage
