Principal Legal Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail:- preparing and reviewing legal documents/instruments; preparing legal opinions; drafting legal documents, leases and contracts; preparing legal briefs and opinions; undertaking research on specific legal areas; identifying issues and areas for policy formulation and review; ensuring compliance with the policy, legal requirements and provisions in all the undertakings of the Agency; advising the Agency on all legal matters; representing the Agency in litigations and other legal matters; safeguarding the interest of the Agency in all legal matters; liaising with the Office of the Attorney General on legal matters; coordinating the implementation of the Units work plans and performance management; and ensuring safe custody of Agency’s legal documents and records.

Requirements for Appointments

For appointment to this grade, an Officer must:-

  • Have minimum period eight of (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Officer;
  • Have Bachelors degree in Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution;
  • Have Masters degree in Laws from a recognized institution;
  • Have Postgraduate diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Have Certificate in Management Course from a recognized institution;
  • Be registered with a professional body;
  • Be proficient in computer applications; and
  • Have demonstrated managerial, administrative and professional competence in work performance and results;
  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Senior Driver

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the highest grade for this cadre. Duties and responsibilities at this level entail: driving a vehicle as authorized, carrying our routine checks on the vehicles cooling oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure etc. detecting malfunctioning of vehicles system, maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned; ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road; overseeing safety of the passengers and/or goods therein; and maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.

Requirement for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must: –

Served in the grade of Driver I for;

  • Have a minimum period of three (3) years relevant work experience;
  • Have Valid driving license free from any current endorsements and valid for any of the classes of vehicles which the officer is required to drive;
  • Have Defensive driving certificate from Automobile association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
  • Have Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade I;
  • Have First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
  • Have Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya police; and
  • Have demonstrated integrity and professional competence as reflected in work performance and results;
  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
