Engagement Manager
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- You will typically lead a team of 3 – 5 consultants to help clients achieve new performance highs.
- You will lead the day to day execution of a client project while guiding and developing individual team members. You’ll work directly with clients – usually on site – and you’ll take ownership of the overall project and its end products. You will make an important contribution to the analysis, design, and implementation of business performance approaches, developing tailor-made solutions and working closely with clients to ensure positive impact and sustainable results.

In a collaborative team setting, you’ll work closely with others but also autonomously with little direction. - Client project work typically includes gathering and analyzing information, formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing recommendations for presentation to client management. From there, you will implement those recommendations with client team members.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Post graduate degree with excellent academic record; MBA, MPH, MPP, PhD or relevant advanced professional degree is preferred
- 8+ years of consulting working experience in international environments, with the stature necessary to interact as thought partner with senior colleagues and clients
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
- Prior experience as a consultant in a professional services firm preferred
- Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis

Client Service Risk Specialist, Digital and Analytics
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- As part of the Client Service Risk (CSR) team, you will deliver expert risk advice and guidance that enables McKinsey’s most cutting-edge work while building and shaping a world-class risk management program. You will review cases and provide guidance on how to manage potential risks stemming from digital client engagements and the creation and launch of various client capabilities (e.g., new service offerings; new products, including client-facing digital analytics or assets; etc.), supporting senior CSR colleagues on the most complex cases.
- You will assess the risk profile of tech-related products, tools and services that come up for review. You will assist CSR colleagues with preparing briefing materials for risk committee consideration of higher risk engagements, particularly where firm policies are not yet clear about the preferred risk stance.
- You will partner closely with and integrate advice from across firm functions (including Privacy, InfoSec, and Legal) and ‘cells’ (practices, offices, new delivery models) to provide counsel on multi-faceted issues. You will develop and implement best practices for operational risk requirements related to software delivery (including OSS and SaaS), AI/ML, privacy, and new tech-related products. You will support program development and delivery of priority initiatives and matters.
- You will educate colleagues in EEMA on digital and analytics/client capabilities risk matters, and support knowledge sharing initiatives across the firm as they relate to these risk areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Top academic credentials and graduate degree preferred, demonstrated intellectual curiosity through professional training, advanced degree, or professional impact
- 6+ years of professional experience in consulting/professional services, law, risk or other advisory role
- Strong analytical, issue-spotting and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to handle complex, sensitive issues
- Working knowledge and interest in building expertise in technology-related risks (information security/cybersecurity, privacy, AI, etc.)
- Strong project management skills with experience working on projects involving data processing, cloud computing, advanced analytics/AI or software development and delivery
- Familiarity with some of the key risk issues faced by a global consulting firm (e.g., staffing and organizational conflicts, reputational risk)
- Entrepreneurial, collaborative attitude, with interest and aptitude for working as part of a diverse global team
- Excellent judgment and exceptional integrity, as well as distinctive interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Ability to work across all levels of seniority, cultivating trust-based, peer-counsellor relationships
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, changing environment; comfort and credibility in challenging discussions with senior colleagues, balancing robustness, persistence, flexibility, humility, tact, and calmness under pressure
- Outstanding English in written and oral communication skills, including clear and concise writing and editorial skills, with strong personal presence and credibility
Client Service Risk Administrator
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- You will work as part of the Client Service Risk team, which advises McKinsey’s Partners, the Primary Risk Accountable Cell Leader for Africa (PRACL – is a Partner who exercises primary risk accountability for the region that they lead) and the Client Service Risk Committee (CSRC – is a global committee of respected Senior Partners supported by firm functions professionals that advises on the most complex risks) on how the firm can best serve its clients throughout EEMA and or one or more of its regions eg. Africa, Middle East, Central Asia, while managing the risks involved.
- In this role, you will work on case intake and triage for the team, as well as help ensure our records and data is of excellent quality and be responsible for producing monthly reports. You will provide CSR and other firm functions colleagues with advice and support on how to best leverage key tools (including the case management system). You will also provide support with the convening and administration for key decision-making processes including record management.
- In addition, you will have the opportunity to support the implementation of improvements to our operating model, to support knowledge-management, reporting and risk awareness efforts. Over time, you will have the opportunity to contribute to special projects and other risk initiatives and may play a role in ensuring that students that are onboarded through the Learnship programme in the South-Africa office are upskilled on Risk Administration processes. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm.

You’ll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. In some cases, you will be asked to travel to your client site.
