Research Officer –Infectious Disease Modelling
JOB PURPOSE:
The research officer will be responsible for 1) Supporting a body of work focused on examining healthcare priority setting in Kenya the broader African region, 2) support the a project focused on the use of economic evidence in vaccine decision-making, 3) Conduct health technology assessments in collaboration with government.
Description:
REPORTS TO: Study PIand Study Supervisor.
JOB DIMENSIONS:
The primary responsibility will be to develop vaccine impact models that integrate cost-effectiveness analysis to inform vaccine decision-making decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
For the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) to:
- Develop research proposals for ethics and scientific review.
- Lead the implementation of studies once ethics review has been obtained.
- Lead the analysis and write-up of study findings.
- Support HERU policy engagement initiatives.
- Develop grant applications for funding.
- And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will have:
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or a health-related area.
- A master’s in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- At least three years related working experience in Research covering health economics.
- Strong background and practical experience in infectious disease modelling, vaccine impact modelling, with a proven track record of model development and application
- Strong quantitative data analysis skills using R and Stata as a minimum

Research Officer – Health Economics

The primary responsibility will be to conduct economic evaluations to inform healthcare priority-setting decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
For the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) to:
- Develop research proposals for ethics and scientific review
- Lead the implementation of studies once ethics review has been obtained
- Lead the analysis and write-up of study findings
- Support HERU policy engagement initiatives
- Develop grant applications for funding
- And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will have:
- A Bachelor’s a health-related subject
- A masters in health Economics, pharmaco-economics, or pharmaco-epidemiology
- At least three years related working experience in Research covering health economics.
- Experience and skills in health technology assessments (including skills in costing, and cost-effectiveness analysis of healthcare interventions including using modelling approaches such as decision tree and markov models, budget impact analysis, and evidence synthesis).
- Strong quantitative data analysis skills using R and Stata as a minimum.

Research Medical Officer – Primary Healthcare
JOB DIMENSIONS:
The primary responsibility will be to support a body of work focused on evaluating primary healthcare interventions aimed at achieving universal health coverage in Kenya.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
For the Health Economics Research Unit (HERU) to:
- Develop research proposals for ethics and scientific review.
- Lead the implementation of studies once ethics review has been obtained.
- Lead the analysis and write-up of study findings.
- Support HERU policy engagement initiatives
- And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBChB, MBBS or equivalent).
- At least two years post-qualification experience in medical practice or health research environment.
- Experience and skills in conducting evaluations in primary healthcare, and broader policy and systems research
- Qualitative data analysis skills using NVIVO as a minimum.
- A licensed Kenyan Medical practitioner
