TECHNICIAN 1 (ELECTRICAL) JOB IN QATAR
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:
Diagnoses and rectifies faults. Participates in the installation and planned maintenance of a variety of
electrical equipment such as Emergency generators, HT & LT switchgears, Motor control centres, Ex
LT & HT motors, protective relays, transformers, portable electrical equipment Actuators for MOV
electrical heaters, electrical heat tracing system, UPS system , Battery chargers/Rectifiers and all
associated electrical equipment
The job exists to provide efficient and quality maintenance of electrical equipment of NGL
Plants,Off -Plots facilities. Non-adherence to safe working procedures will lead to unsafe plant
conditions & failure of plant/equipment giving rise to substantial revenue losses.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Receives work assignments from Senior Technician/General Technician specifying fault- finding,
installation, preventative maintenance, breakdown -repair, overhaul and other work requirements for
the day. Carries out Planned Maintenance, Corrective jobs, Overhaul of a variety of Electrical
equipment including Emergency generator units up to 2 MW, HT & LT switchgears, Motor starters,
Transformers, EOT crane, Explosion proof HT & LT Motors, UPS system, Batteries, Rectifiers /
Battery chargers and Motor operated valves (MOVs)
2. Carries out isolation & de-isolation for Electrical equipment as per isolation /de-isolation procedure/
voltage level authorization.
3. Fully conversant with Permit to work system & shall have Level 1/2 authorization.
4. Installs new equipment such as Explosion proof motors, Portable electrical equipment, starters and
motors drives for pumps, fin fans and compressors and all hazardous area classified lighting units.
Tests and re-commissions a variety of electrical equipment with the aid of test equipment
/instruments, manufacturer s repairs manuals and drawings.
5. Under supervision, repairs Emergency generators, alternators, high and low tension distribution
networks, HT and LT switchgear, Explosion proof HT and LT motors, UPS system, Battery chargers/
rectifiers, portable electrical equipment, actuators for MOVs, lighting system (Ex & normal type).
Makes use of valid calibrated test instruments such as meggers, AVO meters and repair manuals.
6. Complete records of work performed and reports details of installation, overhaul and repair,
preventative maintenance, and fault-finding/repair work carried out to Senior Technician/General
Technician.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical maintenance and repair work within a hydrocarbon/oil
refinery or gas processing plant. Qualification shall be Industrial training institute (ITI) in Electrical
trade or Diploma in Electrical trade. Short courses in safety & hazardous area. 2 years full time
training in electrical trades to OND level or equivalent. Familiar with safety standards and
regulations
