Project Officer – Machakos

Job Overview

The Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing implementation of community- and facility-based TB interventions in Machakos and Makueni Counties. The role provides technical and operational leadership at county level, ensures quality delivery of activities against approved workplans and targets, supervises community implementers, and supports timely reporting and stakeholder coordination in line with Global Fund and CMMB requirements.

The Project Officer works closely with the Project Coordinator, M&E, Finance, County Health Teams, and community structures to ensure effective, accountable, and results-driven implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation and Quality Assurance

  • Coordinate implementation of TB prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care interventions at community and facility levels in line with approved workplans, budgets, and targets.
  • Oversee delivery of community based TB activities, including screening, contact tracing, treatment interruption tracing, TB preventive treatment (TPT), and differentiated service delivery models.
  • Coordinate implementation of TB integrated interventions, including nutrition support for TB clients and linkage to care.
  • Ensure adherence to national TB guidelines, Global Fund requirements, and CMMB quality standards.
  • Track implementation progress, identify bottlenecks, and recommend corrective actions to improve performance.

Community Systems Strengthening and Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and support Community Health Promoters (CHPs), peer monitors, peer educators, linkage assistants, and other community actors to ensure effective and accountable service delivery.
  • Coordinate mentorship visits, supportive supervision, and review meetings for community and facility-based implementers.
  • Lead implementation of Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) activities, including issue identification, documentation, escalation, and participation in advocacy forums.

Monitoring, documentation, and reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely collection, validation, and submission of routine program data in collaboration with the M&E team.
  • Review monthly and quarterly performance reports and contribute to donor narrative reports.
  • Ensure proper documentation of activities, beneficiary records, and implementation evidence for audits and reviews.
  • Lead documentation of best practices, lessons learned, success stories, and human interest stories to support learning and visibility.

Financial and administrative oversight

  • Support activity planning and budgeting, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and workplans.
  • Oversee implementation of activities in compliance with CMMB financial policies and Global Fund requirements.
  • Review activity liquidations, monitor expenditure against plans, and flag variances for corrective action in collaboration with finance teams.

Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key liaison with County Health Departments, sub-county teams, health facilities, and community leadership structures in Makueni County.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings, technical working groups, and advocacy forums relevant to TB programming.
  • Support county-level ownership, alignment with county priorities, and sustainability of TB interventions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Health, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least four (4) years’ experience supporting community health programs within a public health focused NGO.
  • Experience working on TB prevention, care, and treatment interventions, including community based service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of Kenya’s Community Health Strategy and experience working with CHPs and community structures.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multi-stakeholder activities and manage implementation across multiple sites.
  • Strong reporting, documentation, and data use skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Project Officer – Migori

Job Overview

The Project Officer will support high quality implementation of Global Fund HIV interventions at community and facility levels in Migori County. The role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day project activities, supervising community level implementers, supporting stakeholder engagement, and ensuring timely documentation and reporting of results in line with approved workplans, targets, and donor requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

Specifically, the Project Officer will work closely with the Project Coordinator, M&E Officer, Program Manager and support services to perform the following tasks:

Project Implementation and Quality Assurance:

  • Coordinate and support implementation of community and facility based HIV prevention, care, and treatment activities targeting fisherfolk, PMTCT clients, and other priority populations.
  • Support delivery of combination prevention interventions, including peer-led outreach, HTS linkage, PrEP demand creation, eMTCT support groups, and community dialogues on HIV, GBV, stigma, and human rights.
  • Ensure activities are implemented in line with approved workplans, technical guidelines, Global Fund standards, and county health priorities.
  • Track implementation progress, identify bottlenecks, and propose practical solutions to improve coverage, quality, and uptake of services.

Community Systems Strengthening and Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and support peer educators, paralegals and other community health actors to ensure effective service delivery and accountability.
  • Support identification, recruitment, engagement, and retention of project beneficiaries, including fisherfolk and pregnant and lactating women living with HIV.
  • Promote an enabling, rights-based environment for people living with HIV, AGYW, and SGBV survivors through respectful engagement and referral pathways.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date project documentation, including activity reports, beneficiary registers, and indicator tracking tools.
  • Work closely with the M&E Officer to collect, validate, and submit monthly and quarterly performance data.
  • Support documentation of best practices, success stories, lessons learned, and innovations to inform adaptive programming and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in review meetings, supportive supervision visits, and learning forums to strengthen program performance.

Financial and Administrative Support

  • Support implementation of activities in compliance with CMMB’s financial policies and Global Fund requirements.
  • In collaboration with finance teams, support timely processing and liquidation of activity-related payments, including stipends and reimbursements.
  • Contribute to development of annual, quarterly, and monthly activity budgets and track utilization at activity level.

Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support coordination with County Health Departments, health facilities, community leaders, BMUs, and implementing partners to enhance ownership and sustainability.
  • Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings, community review forums, and advocacy engagements to address implementation challenges and promote alignment with county priorities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Community Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience implementing community-based health or HIV programs within a public health focused NGO.
  • Demonstrated experience in HIV prevention, care, and treatment interventions, including eMTCT and community-based service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of the 95–95–95 HIV cascade and differentiated service delivery models.
  • Proven experience in community mobilization and working with Community Health Strategy structures.
  • Experience implementing Global Fund supported HIV programs is a strong added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Project Assistant

Job Overview

The Project Assistant will support day to day implementation of community and facility based TB interventions in Machakos and Makueni County. The role will assist in coordinating project activities, supporting community health actors, tracking implementation progress, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting in line with approved workplans, targets, and Global Fund requirements.

The position works under the guidance of the Project Coordinator and Program Manager and collaborates closely with M&E, finance, county health teams, and community structures.

Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant

Job Overview

CMMB is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant. The role will support the M&E Officer in implementing and maintaining effective monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems for the project. The position will contribute to routine data collection, quality assurance, analysis, reporting, and learning to support evidence-based decision-making and timely donor reporting.

The M&E Assistant will work closely with project teams to track progress against approved workplans and targets, support data use for program improvement, and ensure compliance with Global Fund and government reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring, evaluation, and data quality

  • Support the M&E Officer in implementation and day to day functioning of the project M&E system, tools, and reporting structures.

  • Provide routine feedback to project teams on performance against targets to support timely corrective action.

Coordination and teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with program, finance, and operations teams to support effective project implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning within a public health focused NGO.
  • Practical experience using data analysis tools such as SPSS, STATA, advanced Microsoft Excel and Power Bi.
  • Experience in development and use of M&E tools, data collection instruments, and reporting templates.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management, analysis, and quality assurance.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capacity to support training and on-the-job mentorship of staff.
  • Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience working on TB programs and Global Fund supported projects is an added advantage.
