Database / Web Administrator

- Reporting to the Head of ICT
Main Purpose:
- Support all the database and website functions of the university.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Database Administration and activities of all databases on different platforms like MSSQL and MySQL.
- Database Performance Management.
- Developing, managing, testing back-up and recovery plans including archiving and recovery.
- Database security implementation and version upgrade.
- Databases change & patch management.
- Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
- Develop, update website content and maintain website database and accounts.
- Maintaining and monitoring production (primary and secondary), test and development databases.
- Providing support (assisting / guide, troubleshoot, resolve, coordinating) for database service availability issues and escalates externally / internally in case resolution is not possible at their level.
- Enforcement of SSL certificates and message encryption.
- Providing Level 2 (L2) support (assistance, troubleshooting, installation, configurations, guidance, escalations, and coordination) for all databases and data warehouse as well as escalating and following up unresolved issues.
- Assist in supporting database for the institution’s publications including library services.
- Create and optimize complex query definitions that allow data to be extracted
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, or Computer Science from a recognized institution.
- Proven experience as Database Administrator or relevant position
- At least 3 years relevant experience in handling Databases (SQL is a must) and Management Information Systems.
- Ability to write reports and/or perform routine calculations.
- Strong planning and organization skills;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Should demonstrate an understanding of the following platforms, databases, applications and utilities:
- UNIX / Linux / MS Windows Server, Programming Languages (any one of Java, C++, JavaScript, PL-SQL, XML) SQL, Oracle Web Technologies (J2EE, IIS, Apache) and securities.
- Database certification is must.

Catering Manager

- Reporting to the Director KeMU Holdings Limited.
Main purpose:
- The Catering Manager job exists to plan, organize and develop the food and beverage services, while meeting client expectations, food and hygiene standards, financial targets and to support the functions of the University.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:
- Supervision of the Catering Department
- Plan University food and beverage menus in consultation with the Nutritionist, chefs and cooks, according to customers’ dietary needs in the University.
- Ensure maintenance of food stock levels and order new supplies as required in the kitchen and other catering areas of the University
- Implementation of Catering procedures and policies
- Quality Assurance and control aspects of the department
- Coordination on outside catering activities
- Inspection and coordination of repairs and maintenance in the department
- Analyzing, monitoring and evaluating enterprise profit margins
- Ensure the quality and sufficiency of food and beverage preparation and provision services in the University.
- Ensure proper storage of foodstuff in the kitchen store in order to retain their quality and nutritional values and thus meet customers’ nutrition and dietary needs in the University.
- Prepare and plan procurement list for all kitchen supplies such as foodstuffs, utensils and other materials for use in the catering services of the University.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality and timely kitchen supplies delivery in the University.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management or Food and Beverages Science from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
- Higher Diploma in Hotel Management or other Hospitality Services from a recognized institution
- Ability to manage a team and good communication skills.
- Medical Fitness Certificate from Public Health Office
- At least five years working experience as a Catering Manager in a reputable institution

Senior Lecturer – Health System Management
Main Purpose of the Job:
- To develop, manage and monitor implementation of Health Systems management programmes and related activities in the university.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Teaching and training in the area of Health Systems Management.
- Curricula development and Review
- Conduct Research and Innovation activities
- Engage in fund-raising activities in the Department
- Student supervision and mentoring
- Mentoring of junior staff
- Publications and other forms of dissemination of knowledge
- Engage in professional development activities
- Ensure adherence to quality assurance and accreditation requirements by relevant regulatory bodies
- To support the Head of Department and other programme leaders in the department to manage the ongoing strategic development of programmes and administration in the department.

- Engage in any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department, on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, from time to time.
Required Qualifications and experience
- Holder of PhD in Health Systems Management or related field.
- Holder of a Masters Degree in Health System Management or related field and has worked in a hospital or a healthrelated organization will be an added advantage.
- Holder of a first degree in Health System Management or in related field
- Evidence of peer review publications (32 points from the time appointed as a lecturer)
- Registration with relevant professional bodies
- At least three (3) years of full-time teaching at university level as a Lecturer or persons from research institutions, practice/industry with requisite academic qualifications and experience will also be considered.
- Supervised three (3) post graduate students to completion
- Familiarity with quality assurance and accreditation requirements by relevant regulatory organizations; Contribute to the accreditation of programmes and quality control processes.
- Demonstrable ability to lead research projects, grant writing, win bids and generate income is an added advantage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Evidence of fund-raising capability
- Develop ideas for generating income and promoting the subject.

Fundraising / Resource Mobilization Officer

- Resource Mobilization Officer responsible for building an increasingly diversified network of donors/partners as well as other philanthropic institution/individuals who believe in the vision and mission of Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) and provide funds, technical support and other forms of collaboration to meet current and future needs of KeMU.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To identify and approach potential individuals, groups and organizations that may raise funds for the development of the University.
- To take the lead in identifying funding opportunities, listing them and sharing the information with Director University Advancement & Marketing and other relevant groups in the University.
- Develop and Implement resource mobilization strategies to achieve overall fund raising targets
- To assist with funding proposal writing processes. This involves writing project and budget plan proposals and coordinating with the different sub-committees of University with the aim of Sometimes jointly submitting a project proposal.
- To assist in developing a fund generation and resource mobilization Work plan and constantly follow-up the implementation of the plan .This involves designing and writing materials for communication with different prospective donors and agencies.
- To assist in mobilizing non-financial resources from private sectors entities, individuals and corporate agencies.
- To coordinate processing of agreements in connection with funding opportunities and ensure effective and timely follow-up in terms of submission of reports to the donors and grant renewal proposals.
- To monitor donor reporting and grant expenditure deadlines; coordinate with Director University Advancement & Marketing and senior management of the University in responding to these deadlines while facilitating and participating in the preparation of quality financial and narrative reports to donors.
- Provide effective coordination for the establishment of proposal development working groups with representatives from key stakeholder within and beyond KeMU
- Establishing and broadening relations with the potential and existing donors;
Required qualifications and experience:
- Master’s degree in social sciences, humanities, development studies, human rights, political science or other relevant discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of experience with a proven track record of resource mobilization and the creation of RMoriented partnerships and stakeholder networks.
- Proven leadership and project management skills with the ability to work with a diverse group of clients.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to prepare proposals, reports and concept papers to a high level of proficiency.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-cultural teams.
- Proven exceptional communication, presentation and writing skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the University and externally;
