Senior Engineer

Reporting to the Principal Engineer, Energy Research and Development, the job holder will be responsible for implementation and/or coordination of identified research and development projects/ programmes/ initiatives by:
- Assisting in the identification of suitable institutions/organizations and/ or programmes/ projects for collaborative research under the energy research and development collaboration framework;
- Assisting in monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the energy sector R&D coordination framework;
- Conducting research on synergies between oil & gas and clean and/or renewable energy systems;
- Conducting research on technologies, techniques, and processes related to the exploration, extraction, production, transportation and utilization of oil and gas resources to improve safety and efficiency, optimize recovery rates, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impacts of the oil & gas industry;
- Exploring the application of Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) techniques to improve decision-making and optimize processes;
- Participating in evaluation of energy research outputs for dissemination/publication;
- Evaluating the suitability of relevant energy R&D tools, computer codes and models for effective projects implementation;
- Providing input in development of R&D competency framework for expertise in energy technologies;
- Contributing to curation of data on energy R&D and maintenance of up-to-date research database(s);
- Contributing to the formulation and implementation of Intellectual Property (IP) management strategies;
- Assisting in development of proposals on energy technologies for commercialization; and
- Developing individual work plans, monitoring own performance and seeking requisite support to ensure delivery on agreed targets.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant filed from a recognized institution.
Professional Membership
- Membership to Engineers Board of KEnya
Work Experience
- A minimum of four(4) years relevant work experience

Scientist – 2 Positions

Reporting to the Senior Scientist, the job holder will be responsible for implementation of identified nuclear energy research areas/programmes for safe application of nuclear technologies in improving productivity and quality of life in the country by:
- Assisting in the identification of institutions/ development partners/ organizations and of programmes/projects to be implemented under collaboration framework in nuclear energy research and development;
- Assisting in monitoring the implementation of Nuclear R&D coordination framework in the country;
- Conducting research on complex social and technical issues pertaining to nuclear energy production such as nuclear safety, performance improvements, radioactive waste and spent fuel management, integration of nuclear power with variable renewable energy (VRE) sources, societal aspects (socio-economics and public perception) of nuclear energy systems;
- Supporting implementation of plans for development and implementation of Kenya nuclear research reactor project (stakeholders/user-groups build-up, utilization, and business plans review; risk management; operation and maintenance; and decommissioning);
- Participating in evaluation of nuclear energy research findings and other material for publication;
- Analyzing relevant nuclear R&D tools, computer codes and models for projects implementation;
- Adhering to guidelines to ensure that the safety, security and safeguards (3S) objectives are realized in operation/implementation of nuclear research projects and programmes;
- Providing input in development of R&D competency framework for expertise in the field of nuclear science and related technologies;
- Contributing to curation of data on nuclear research and maintenance of an up-to-date research database;
- Assisting in development of proposals on nuclear energy technologies for commercialization; and
- Developing individual work plans, monitors own performance and seeks requisite support to ensure delivery of agreed targets.

Legal Assistant – 2 Positions

Reporting to the Regulatory and Compliance Officer, the job holder will be responsible or assisting in the development of a legal and regulatory framework for a nuclear power programme and provision of legal services to the Agency by:
- Undertaking, updating and making amendment on laws, policies and regulations necessary to the successful implementation of a nuclear power programme;
- Preparing and drafting of legal documents, instruments and briefs;
- Responding to inquiries regarding specific issues on legislation and regulations on nuclear technology application;
- Tracking legislations, conventions, protocols and treaties and their subsequent correspondence;
- Preparation and proper documentation of all laws, polices and regulation documents
- Undertake legal research on nuclear law;
- Managing and updating the Agency’s legal files and diaries; and
- Filing and documentation of all legal instrument of the Agency.
Academic and Professional Qualifications

Reporting to the Human Resource Officer, the job holder will be responsible for providing administrative support for the Human Resource Department including filing, training and development and performance management by:
- Assisting in maintenance of accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation;
- Providing clerical and administrative support to Human Resources department;
- Assisting in recruitment process including placement of job adverts, new hire induction, orientation and on-boarding processes;
- Assisting in conducting employment background checks and screening for prospective employees;

- Assisting in ensuring that Human Resource operations are in compliance with the laws and Government regulations and keeping abreast of the changing emerging trends;

- Recording visitor’s details in the visitor’s register;
- Receiving and directing customers comprising of visitors, suppliers, stakeholders and the general public;

Accounts Assistant

Reporting to the Accountant, the job holder will be responsible for providing support to the Accounting Department by maintaining accounting documents, processing payments and preparation of audit file schedules by:
- Handling communication with clients and vendors via phone, email, and in-person;
- Recording and processing transactions;
- Assisting in filing financial reports and documents;
- Assisting with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies;
- Receiving and maintaining accounting documents, updating imprest and assets registers;
- Preparing preliminary monthly and quarterly expenditure analysis and budgetary draft reports and various other reports and returns as required.
- Assisting in the implementation of internal controls and examine the payment process for accuracy;
