Laboratory Technologist – Isiolo County – 2 Posts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample collection and processing including culture, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing;
  • Media preparation and quality control (QC);
  • Routine laboratory equipment maintenance;
  • Assay specific and equipment SOP development;
  • Maintenance of supplies inventory and lab records;
  • Perform data entry from preanalytical, analytical and post analytical processes;
  • Packaging samples for shipment to DLSP laboratories in Nairobi/ Kisumu;
  • Carry out monthly room sterility checks and laboratory waste autoclaving;
  • Participation in IQC and EQA Pannel testing.

Vacancy Requirements:

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical laboratory technology or equivalent from a recognized institution.    Mandatory
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Microbiology laboratory.    Mandatory
  • Must have KMLTTB registration with current practicing license    Mandatory
  • Experience in phlebotomy and other sample collection procedures    Mandatory
  • Specialized knowledge in microbial cultures, identification and routine testing for antimicrobial drug susceptibility    Mandatory

Registered Nurse – Siaya and Homa Bay Counties – 5 Posts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and consenting of potential study participants;
  • HIV counseling and testing of potential study participants;
  • Taking vital signs during scheduled study visits, unscheduled visits and offer nursing; care in the clinic and ward to hospitalized participants;
  • Dispensing both study and non-study medication to study participants (DOTS);
  • Accurately and completely fill out all necessary study forms;
  •  Conduct post dose observation of dosed study participants;
  • Keep records and check source documents for completeness and accuracy each day;
  • Perform real time quality control checks of documents prior to filing;
  • Report problems encountered at work to the study coordinator;
  • Able to compile and submit progress reports in a timely manner.

Vacancy Requirements:

  • Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Nursing/Midwifery, Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;    Mandatory
  • Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya;    Mandatory
  • Valid Practising Licensing from Nursing Council of Kenya;    Mandatory
  • Proficiency in computer application skills from a recognized institution;    Mandatory

Research Administrator – Kisumu

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage study setup, participant recruitment, and field activities across multiple sites.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, including obtaining protocol submissions to CSC and SERU.
  • Review case report forms (CRFs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs), train field teams on use, and monitor compliance.
  • Monitor trial recruitment and update the trial senior management team with modern tools such as AI and data visualization.
  • Organise telehealth / digital health consultations for participants requiring higher care.
  • Coordinate with data management teams to ensure data quality and resolve queries promptly.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with study participants, their communities, and all project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans and goals for research initiatives.
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for research projects.
