Rafiki Kenya – A startup NGO operating in Makueni and Machakos, is seeking a Communications Intern. Our organization is dedicated to protecting and promoting children’s rights through education.

Job Description

The Digital Communications Intern will be responsible for establishing Rafiki Kenya’s digital presence and voice through innovative design and effective communication strategies that support our advocacy efforts. This role involves content writing, production, and the application of web and design skills to create engaging digital content.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce creative content to support our advocacy initiatives.
  • Develop content for social media, websites, and other related platforms.
  • Create branded digital and print materials such as invitations, banners, and event signage.
  • Assist in storytelling and the development of impactful narratives.
  • Regularly update and manage the organization’s website.
  • Support the creation of branded visibility materials.
  • Capture high-quality video and photography during events and activities at the Center.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • A diploma or degree in web design, communications, digital content creation, or a related field.
  • Significant experience in digital communications, with a minimum of 6-10 years in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Canva, WordPress, Adobe Suite, and other digital communication software.
  • Experience working with philanthropic organizations or non-profits is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Kamba language is an added advantage.

Compensation: The internship offers a monthly stipend of KES 10,000.

Duration: This is a 6-month internship with the potential for renewal.

Mode of Work: Primarily online (90%).
