Reporting to: Head of Department – Nursing & Perioperative Theatre Technology
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervise all clinical activities and workings of all students and support all departmental activities, including continued program accreditation, aiming to offer our students quality training.
- Oversee all activities of patient care and ensure an optimal level of care in a clinical setting and participate in various educational programs and ensure compliance with all lesson plans
- Assist all students in adjusting to the trainee group, ensure optimal work performance in the assigned ward to meet patient needs, and train all students to minimize infection and contamination.
- Train all students to identify signs of patient health deterioration and clinical equipment malfunction to ensure the achievement of all course objectives.
- Coordinate with students, manage all communication with the same, and provide an optimal level of training through practical training.
- Assist all facility nurse managers and academic staff in analyzing all student requirements, ensuring appropriate resources in the facility, and assisting in various laboratory activities.
- Prepare all student assignments, ensure compliance with all academic course programs, and evaluate trainees’ performance in classroom clinical training.
- Train and provide feedback to all nursing students to ensure optimal quality of work and provide consultation to various nurses for nursing education programs.
- Other duties as may be assigned to you by your supervisor.
Perioperative Theatre Technology Trainer (Kitale)
Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have
- Higher National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree, Theatre Nursing, Medical Technology, or a related health field from a recognized institution.
- Registered Nurse status with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Perioperative Theatre Technologist or in a related role, with a strong foundation in theatre operations and surgical procedures, along with experience in teaching or training in a university or tertiary institution setting
Key responsibilities also include
Reporting to; Head of Department – Nursing & Perioperative Theatre Technology
Duties and responsibilities;
- Plan, prepare and teach the units assigned, as outlined in the course outline in line with the course curriculum.
- Development of learning materials, timely preparation and submission of professional records and maintaining records to monitor student progress, achievement and attendance.
- Plan, develop and deliver appropriate learning plans for individual students.
- Assess students work and monitor their achievement
- Take part in the Course review process and adapt delivery patterns to meet student needs
- Examining and marking of Trainees’ Assessment Tests (C.A.Ts ) and end of term assessments) and timely uploading of marks in the MIS of the units assigned
- Carry out Practical instructions for trainees and maintaining their portfolios of evidence
- Supervising students during assessments
- Contributing to the development, planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum
- Participation in departmental meetings
- Other duties as may be assigned to you by your supervisor
Clinical Medicine And Surgery Trainer (Kitale) – 2 Positions
Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have
- Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine, or a related healthcare field.
- Practicing license from Clinical Officers Council.
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical practice, with at least 2 years of teaching experience in a university or tertiary institution setting

Reporting to: Head of Department – Clinical Medicine & Surgery
Duties and responsibilities
- Participate in the development, Instruction and Curriculum Delivery; deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical training sessions in clinical medicine and surgery.
- Provide hands-on training in clinical skills, including diagnostic procedures, patient examinations, and surgical techniques.
- Supervise and guide students in clinical settings, ensuring they acquire essential skills safely and effectively.
- Organize and oversee clinical rotations in hospitals and clinics, coordinating with healthcare facilities to arrange student placements.
- Evaluate students’ progress through exams, assignments, and practical assessments.
- Act as a mentor to students, providing academic, career, and personal guidance.
- Ensure that the program complies with regulatory standards set by the relevant regulating bodies.
- Engage in research activities to contribute to the advancement of medical education and clinical practice.
- Participate in the departmental meetings and activities that foster the growth of the department
